ALEJANDRO POV

The tension in the room was thick and cloying, the air dense and heavy to breathe.

I pinched the bridge of my nose and stared at the small chair that was placed in the middle of the office, curtains closed and shadows hiding underneath the blinding light of the crystal chandelier above. It was a good place, the one grandmothers used to have.

What enticed me was not the chair… No.

It was the bambolina dressed in a white dress, hair pulled in a tight bun on top of her head. She had on her feet white stiletto heels with red bottoms, and her face held no emotions whatsoever.

“Signorita, please. I did not mean to…”

“To betray my husband and I? I know.” She nodded with mock understanding, then pulled the white gloves from the pocket of her white fur coat that was draped behind the chair, and dropped them to her lap.

My blood ran cold with what came next!

“They had my family. My wife and my daughter… I didn’t know what to do.” The traitor bawled from the floor in front of her, his hands coming out to clutch the heel of her white stilettos, staining them with blood.

Her face twisted with disgust.

I chuckled where I stood.

“You are touching me.” She said with sheer nonchalance, and the man dropped his hand the shoe had caught fire.

Bruno yanked him, sending him to the floor where he landed with a meaty thunk.

“Now, the Contini’s have your wife and child hostage. Instead of doing what any smart man would, which is coming to me, or my husband to report, you decide it's in the best interest to go behind our backs and leak my dealings to the media. Not so smart, Lloyd.” She shook her head while regarding the man whose face was a mess of blood, tears, and mucus.

I stared, mesmerized by the intensity in Rayana’s eyes as she regarded the traitor who scattered the news of Rayana being involved with the underworld to the media.

When we found out who the rat was, I was livid, wanting to skin him alive and make a wall piece with his skin.

But then she held my hand, shook her head and me, and muttered ‘Let me take care of this.’

Seeing her in the game, how much she’s grown and accustomed to the mafia world made my chest swell with pride.

She took gloves and sheathed her hands, then stood up and took big strides to where I was standing.

I watched the small sway in her hips, the way the white dress clung to her body, and I swallowed audibly!

She was hot as hell. Heck, even today, I still couldn’t believe she was mine.

She stopped in front of me and leaned in for a small kiss. Our lips collided briefly, sending a spark of dopamine throughout my system. She pulled back and smiled.

I wrapped my arms around her lean waist and then stared into her beautiful eyes.

“What do you wanna do with this one?” I mumbled before nibbling her lower lip.

“Bruno show him the video we have.” She said out loud to Bruno who quickly sprung into action. My brows knitted with confusion, but she smiled assuringly before patting my chest.

“I am always a step ahead, baby.” And how true that was.

I watched out of my peripheral vision as Bruno tapped on the iPad he had, then showed it to Lloyd whose face contorted with pain at first, then a relieved laughter cackled out of him.

I stared at Rayana in question.

“I got the family from the Contini’s hands.” She winked, then yanked the gun from my waist belt and spun around in my hold.

My hands dropped from her waist reluctantly but once again, I was in utter awe.

She stood in front of Lloyd with a gun in her hand, Lloyd’s head hung low on his shoulders with defeat. He knew what was coming next. He knew there was no way he could make out alive after doing what he did.

Even if Rayana were to pardon him, I’d still smother him and send him straight to hell.

“You see, Lloyd, we take care of what is ours. You could have gotten your family safe and sound.” She said as she drew the gun and pointed it at the motherfucker’s face.

“I am so-,”

BAM!

The loud sound filled the space before the body dropped onto the floor. Blood started to pool from beneath it, and Rayana spun around and faced me.

Blood stained her dress, and looking at her now, I feared I might have created the she-devil.

She took off her gloves and dumped them onto the body, the signature she came up with when she fully accepted her role as my wife and the queen of Cosa Nostra.

A silent ‘I did it, and there’s nothing you can do about it,’ she sent to the police and everyone who dared to come spewing nonsense to us. She was my queen, my phoenix, and she was a bloody murder weapon.

She extended her hand, and I wrapped my fingers around her lean ones.

“Let’s get out of here.”

RAYANA POVIgnorance is bliss! And so were the times I pretended to be one of the million citizens of Great Britain without the duties and the expectations of my ‘holier than thou’ last name following closely behind me like a shadow. Very unfortunately, those times did not end well; it so happened that every time I stepped out of the shell that had cocooned me my entire life, things just had to go to shit! And to shit they go. I raised my head as the heavy metal door slammed shut a few yards from where I was canoodled on the cold floor, blankly staring at my sparkly two-toned green and silver Jimmy Choo’s. Something about the gems studded into the fabric fascinated me!“Get up, princess. Looks like today is your lucky day.” The mean Latino officer intoned as she jiggled heavy cell keys, the sound creating a hollow echo inside my brain. The deadlock bolted into place before she yanked the bar door open, and then held it ajar. I got up from my pitiful position and straightened the non

Chapter 2ALEJANDRO POVThe clock’s timely ticks and tocks filled in the silent space, the words ‘Tell me about yourself’ lingering in the air between us. Everything about being here left a bitter taste in my mouth, and made me ache for something entirely different. I came here because somebody suggested I needed it. I needed to think about something; anything other than blood and white powder and reigning the underworld, yet all the red-haired bambolina did for the past eleven minutes and thirty-seven seconds was flash her undoubtedly fake tits in my direction and lift her skirt inches higher up her thighs.A universal ‘I want to fuck you’ sign women flashed whenever they wanted someone up in their nooks and crooks!I could fuck her right where she sat; considering I had already pictured all the ways I could switch positions in her like I was doing some yoga. Yoga! Maybe I should try that shit. Maybe it would ease the blood lust and make me think like a human!Tick. Tock. Tick. Toc

Chapter 3RAYANA POVThe sun floated across the sky as I sat on the elevated sill staring blankly at the greenery that stretched on the acres and acres of land. Tears left a trail of sticky mess on my face, and my chest rose and fell with short breaths as I tried to make meaning of the situation. It felt like a nightmare; a cold, inhuman, cruel dream and my heart was screaming in agony to be shaken awake. My dad and I may have had our differences but he was everything to me. The man got me in ways that nobody had ever done, and he was my safe space when the world kept me awake at night. And to lose him just like that… It was a cruel joke. He was sick. There was no doubt that he was ever going to make it. Leukaemia sucked him dry from the inside. I watched him wither and rot in his skin until he was nothing but the shallow reflection of the glorious and mighty man he used to be. It hurt me to see him slowly perishing, but all of that didn't prepare me for his death. None of it ev

RAYANAI whisked my head to the side and glared at the monster who was sitting at my right, looking so unaffected by the series of nonsense he just spewed. Inheriting the archduchy was all that he thought about. My blood roared in my veins, and venom threatened to choke me dead. I bit my tongue and swallowed the poison that was ready to pour off my tongue, then decided to glare out the window at the passing scenery. He was right, to some extent. Our lives, unlike theirs, were a long political charade, always open and exposed to the eyes of the public. And vultures and thieves were hiding in the shadows waiting for a moment of weakness, just a tiny lapse in judgment and they would latch on everything that had the archduchy name on it. I released a shaky breath and pinched my eyes shut. And in that moment, I wished I was born ordinary. At least I could mourn my father’s death without having to worry about being mocked for grieving my dad. “I understand it is hard for you, brother.

Chapter 5ALEJANDRO POVI watched her out of my peripheral vision as she rose from her seat and walked out. Her face was swollen, her feet wobbly, yet she managed to hold her head up high and walk out like she owned the place. I looked at the front of the ballroom at the excuse of a man called her brother, only to find him glaring piercing daggers at her retrieving back. I let out a smooth chuckle!Of course, he didn’t like it. And she just had to do it.My chest ballooned with pride as I cast another look at her, and a foreign feeling caught my heart in a tight grip.I swallowed hard. I don’t know what it was that propelled me to fly to the UK. And I knew damn well it wasn’t to pay tribute to the late archduke. Yes, we may have been business associates but that was all it ever was. Nothing more, nothing less. And we sure as hell were not on a friendly basis to attend each other’s backyard brunches and funerals. And heck, now that I thought about it, I had a shit ton of things to t

Chapter 6RAYANA POV The morning arrived, and I peeled myself reluctantly from the warm pillow. The inside of my head felt like a clubhouse of a thousand trolls, and there was this sinking feeling that seemed to be pulling my insides into a bottomless pit. I remained seated for a few minutes, trying to come to the current reality and not drift away in the musings of my mind. As much as my mind had rather amusing things- and I would rather be anywhere than in my current life- I had to get up and face the day. The door was yanked open and in came Charlotte dressed in a pair of black pants, black stiletto heels, and a black coat. She had on her head a small veil that covered her pale skin and undoubtedly poofy eyes. “You look like shit.” She said walking in my direction and stood before my bed. I wanted to ask where she got the energy to get up so early and prep up, while I was here feeling like I had had a one on one with John Cena in a wrestling mania!“And you bathed nice,” I said

Chapter 7RAYANA POVLiquid shock held my lungs captive as I watched HIM walk away, shoulders and frame larger than life. Everything in my body and soul just knew that it was the beautiful intruder from last night, the same man who'd moved into my head and decided to live rent-free. His face was the replica of an angel, his body the one only possessed by gods. It was clear to any onlooker that God took his time sculpting, modeling, and framing to be the finest specimen he was.And the voice... I now knew who the owner of that sweet voice was, and intrigue bubbled inside me like green acid.I wondered what his eyes looked like. Damn the bloody glasses that hid those killer jewels from me."I don't blame you for staring. He's hot as fuck." Charlotte's voice yanked me from my musings. Redness crept to my face and I thanked Heaven for the small blessings since my face was already red from all the crying.I cast a look at my sister to find her staring at me, a knowing look on her face. Chapter 8RAYANA POVHeels clicking on the marble floor, we all waded into the main office where we all plopped wherever our heart desired. James had already sucked all the decorum out of all of us, and no one cared how messy everyone must have looked. I scoffed when he claimed my father’s seat on the main desk, then leaned back and watched us like we were peasants under his mercy. His gaze was proud, triumph dripping off him with disgusting arrogance I found myself wondering if the man in front of us was the brother I grew up with and loved with the whole of me. “You are so fucking unbelievable.” Even though everything was happening right in front of my eyes, I still found myself having a hard time wrapping myself around the recent happenstances.Everything was happening so fast that my mind failed to catch up, and all it did was drag behind and register the events a little too late. Just a few days ago I was sleeping in a jail cell, and then my father died. I bet the Latino office

Chapter 67RAYANA POVHot steamy sex and three orgasms later, we hopped into the lift side by side. Alejandro was dressed in a nice black tracksuit with Nike trainers, his broad shoulders stretching the material so thin that I could trace the curves and lines of his muscles. He was just so big, so manly, so right. And to see him in anything but his expensive suits… That made a trail of wetness to pull between my legs and my stomach clench in a delicious way. I was also clad in a pair of black leggings, a sports bra, and some trainers as well and I looked so small against his big build. My hair was pulled in a messy bun and I was feeling so pumped up I could take up a whole army of the royal guards if they appeared in front of me.

Chapter 66RAYANA POVWhen I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was triple, obsidian orbs staring at me with so much tenderness I began to melt right there and then. The gaze of them was soft, gentle; a concoction of comfort and reliance. Alejandro’s hand traveled from the path next to my neck before threading his fingers in my hair, then smiled that lazy smile that always made me weak in the knees. He was such a beautiful man; a stark contrast to what I saw last night.Last night, I had seen him in his might, the horrible things he was capable of doing. And just thinking about it all left me on the precipice of indecision. I didn’t know whether I was to love him more or fear him.“M.m.” He grumbled

The darkness I loved and worshipped filtered through the cracks on the walls of the dungeon while the fucker continued spewing things that were only guaranteeing his death. Things along the lines of how ‘he’ was going to fuck Rayana’s corpse after they delivered it to him. Like I would ever let that happen. Not in this life or the next. Rayana was mine to tame, mine to train, mine in all shapes and forms of the word. No fucker in this world or beyond would stake a claim on her while I lived. And I was about to make it known to the rest of the wo

  • Claiming The Archduchess   Chapter 64

Chapter 64RAYANA POVI still wasn’t sure where all bravery came from, or where I got the guts to stand in front of the most dangerous man in all of the UK and call him up on his bullshit. Maybe it was from the fact that I had the devil incarnate standing guard by my side and ready to maul and maim if he so ever tried to pull any other shitty stunt, but still… I couldn’t believe I stood against the man who cooked people for a living and handed him his shit on the platter. After a little back and forth, the chef managed to convince Alejandro that his little proposal was worth taking. I wanted to believe his little act of loyalty was his patriarchal instincts kicking in, but I knew better than to delude myself into that.

Chapter 63RAYANA POVWhen the door slipped closed, the first thought that infested my mind was that I was not staying behind! Fuck everything else. The times I had been without Alejandro, something lethal always happened, something that always resulted in a near-death experience. And I would be damned. “Where are you going?” Charlotte sat up straight when I jumped out of the bed, her face puffy and tear-stained. One look at her and I knew I owed her my life. Which meant I wasn’t going to sit around here and wait to be fed with the news of why I was hunted by the Russians. I needed to hear it all with my own ears, and then decide what I was going to do about it!

Chapter 62ALEJANDRO POVMy whole body felt like a weightless piece of paper when the news reached my ears. I felt light on my feet, the blood inside of me simmering on low. I allowed the bloodlust to infest my system, let the darkness swallow my soul whole, blackening every piece of me that was left human.Calamity brewed and formed its path to my throat, the bitterness of it spreading inside my mouth. My whole body itched to destroy, to shred everything in the vicinity to pieces… It was not the fact that my girl was almost killed, twice in a week while I fumbled on straws trying to nail the one person who was after her head; or that I warned her against this crazy idea of going out there in public.

Chapter 61RAYANA POVWestfield London plus month-end frenzy was not the most ideal combo for a little getaway… Especially for the most wanted person! The mall was insanely crowded with month-end throngs, and going up and about was almost a pain in the mess. If bumping into people here and there was not crazy on its own, I just couldn’t shake off that rattling awareness of eyes following me at every turn. And no matter how long I had it, I just couldn’t get used to it. It was unnerving, and there was no way I could relax under the watchful gazes of Alejandro’s men. I would look around at some point to see if they were near, and I would see nothing! Just normal civilians going about with their lives.

Chapter 60ALEJANDRO POV“What is this madness of going out?” I asked, trying to be as understanding as I could possibly be. I seriously didn’t think Charlotte would come knocking here. It was clear I underestimated the lengths the two sisters could go just to see each other. The how’s of it didn’t matter, because she was here now. And it could only mean one thing; they were dead set on going out. “All we are asking for is a few hours of gallivanting around the mall. Just a few hours. I mean look at her. She is room-rotting in here.” Charlotte pleaded her case and gestured to Rayana. She looked perfectly fine to me. I am talking about a grey loungewear set that clung onto her body, accentuating her lush curves and perky tits. I
