Elsa
My alarm goes off and I can barely open my eyes. How had I gotten home? I don’t even remember walking home.
Last night’s events were hazy. My neck aches like hell and I was still in yesterday's clothes.
Crawling across the floor. I peer at myself in the mirror. My long dark hair was a mess. My ears were ringing from the music at the bar. Big dark rings sat under my baby blue eyes. I was a complete mess.
Turning my head, I see two small red lumps on my neck. They were sore to touch. Glancing at my bedroom window I curse myself for leaving it open. I must have been bitten by some bug or something.
Quickly rearranging the bandages around my waist, I pull a green sweater over my head and slip on a pair of dark blue jeans. I knew I had to hurry to make breakfast. Kyra was likely already mad that I disappeared last night, ruining her celebrations. I didn’t need her to start the day in a foul mood.
My head was spinning from all the alcohol. It was only the second time that I have ever had any and my head felt like it was going to explode. “Not doing that again.” I mutter
Pulling open my door, I crash into Sadie coming from her room
“Watch where you are going you stupid cow!” she screeches at me. I cover my sensitive ears and notice she isn’t alone.
Ben was with her. Both looking smitten with each other. It was bad enough they were together, but to sleep together in the same house as me? That was messed up!
“Where the fuck were you? You ruined last night. Mum is furious with you.” Sadie snaps. “When did you sneak in?”
“Leave her alone, she isn’t worth it, babe.” Ben tugs her back. Enveloping her in his arms.
The man from last night flashes through my mind, how his lips had trailed over my skin leaving strange little bursts of electricity. How he had made me laugh when I was feeling at my lowest.
“Why are you smiling?” Sadie demands.
“Nothing.” I mutter quickly. I didn’t need to give them anymore ammunition.
“Where the hell have you been?!” Kyra comes out of the bathroom with her hands on her hips.
“Sorry,” I mutter. “I’m going to make breakfast right now.”
“Sorry? Sorry doesn’t put breakfast on the table!” Kyra charges towards me, her hand out ready to slap me. As it comes towards me, I duck and her hand makes contact with her daughter.
“MUM!” Sadie cries, clutching her cheek while Kyra looks on horrified that she had hit her own daughter. Ben takes a step back looking completely baffled and wishing that he wasn’t here.
A smile creeps across my face. Sadie had never even been threatened or hit. This had just made my day. Maybe my entire year.
“Sadie, baby. I’m so sorry.” Kyra rounds on me. “Look what you made me do!”
Her hand comes at me again. It looked like it was moving in slow motion and I easily dodge it again. My reflexes were on fire this morning.
Her face turns beetroot red as her anger rages through her.
“GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!
She didn’t need to tell me twice.
Grabbing my bag and my coat, I quickly escape the mad house.
At least today it wasn’t raining.
Walking along the road, I figured I would catch a bus and head over to the next town and really make Kyra lose her shit. I had nothing to lose. She was only keeping me because she wanted my trust fund when I turned twenty.
Sadie catches up with me, shoving my uniform in my hands.
“I’m not on today.” I mutter. I can’t help but look at her face and stifle a giggle.
“Liar. I know your schedule.” She folds her arms across her chest.
“I swapped shifts.” I lie
“Who is going to swap with you? It’s my friends that work in that dump, not yours.”
“Does it matter? I’m not in today.”
I was trying not to laugh at the red handprint on her face. Maybe, just this once, she would know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of Kyra’s wrath.
“Mum is mad.”
“Do you think I care? She’s a bitch, just like you.” Where the hell was this confidence coming from? I’ve never stood up to her ever.
“Did you seriously just say that? To me?” She scoffs
“I did, now leave me alone!”
“You deserve everything you get!” She storms off back towards the house as I roll my eyes.
My headache was growing. Every sound seemed to have intensified. I was certain I could hear the conversation of the old couple across the road. I must be going mad!
Sitting on a nearby bench, I felt sick. For some reason everything seemed to smell. Even the person running along the road had bad body odour. What the fuck was wrong with me? Is this what a hangover does? It messes with your senses?
I try getting away from the smells but no matter where I moved, a new scent would appear. Until I smelt something different. It was intoxicating. A scent that called to my soul. Vanilla bean.
Following my nose, it leads me back to the bar from last night. Nate was standing outside. He was chatting to a blonde haired guy when he looks directly at me. His eyes locked with mine.
My heartbeat quickens as he crosses the road, heading directly towards me. He runs a hand through his short dark hair as he comes to a stop in front of me. Damn he was hot!
“I wondered when you would appear.” He gives me the same smile from last night.
Why the fuck did he smell so good? I wanted to devour him.
“Thanks for getting me home.” I mutter. I still didn’t remember telling him where home was, but I must have done.
“Is that all you have to say?”
“Uh huh.” I turn on my heel, moving quickly away from him. But I could hear his footsteps behind me. And his scent seemed to be following me.
“You don’t have any questions.”
“No.” I keep moving and try not to look at him.
Don’t turn around, just keep moving!
“You don’t want to know why you can smell me?” The question brings me to a stop. As I turn around, he is grinning at me.
“You know?”
“Of course. Everything smells different too, right? And your hearing? You hear things that you have never heard before?”
I nod my head, not quite sure how I was supposed to answer. How could he know all this?
“What the fuck did you put in my drink?!” I fire the question at him. Pure anger that had come from nowhere was surging through me.
He puts his hands up “Woah. I didn’t put anything in your drink.”
“Sorry. I….. I don’t feel myself.” I mutter, dropping my gaze.
He tips my chin up, locking his eyes on mine. “It’s perfectly understandable. Now let me take you to a place where I can tell you what is happening to you. Take you away from this shithole.”
“You want to take me somewhere?”
“Yes. It’s a little hard to explain it here. Too many ears.”
It was stupid of me to agree. But I couldn’t help wondering how he knew that something was wrong with me.
“Okay.” I whisper
“Good.” He presses his lips to my forehead. “You won’t regret it.”
NateIt took longer than expected. Mason and I had been standing outside the bar for over an hour before she appeared. Her baby blue eyes were wide as she spots me.“Stay here.” I mutter to Mason. He follows my gaze. “Alright, you win, she did make it here.”He remains behind as I cross over to her. Just like last night, she couldn’t take her eyes off of me.It takes some convincing, but she agrees to come with me. Now I just needed to find the words to tell her that she isn’t human anymore. She sits in the back of the car next to me as Mason drives. After a brief quiet moment, she begins firing questions at me.“What’s wrong with me?”“How do you know I can smell you?”“How did you know I would come to the bar?”“What’s wrong with my hearing?”“Elsa, just wait.” I mutter, draping an arm around her shoulders and pulling her in next to me. I hope it would be enough to settle her nerves. That I could be some sort of comfort to her or my scent would. The questions keep coming and Mason
Elsa“How did you get here?” I groan. I could smell him before I even opened my eyes. The vanilla bean scent was welcoming, but also frustrating. How did he even find me?Nate stands over me, his white tee covered in my blood. At least the beatings had stopped. For now.“I can feel your pain. This isn’t the first time though, is it?” He hands me a glass of water and a couple of paracetamols. His brow creases into a frown. “Why didn’t you tell me?”“Does it matter?” I murmur, propping myself up. My sweater had been replaced with a tee, it was rolled up and tucked into my bra band. The bandages on show for all to see. “Did you undress me?”“You left me little choice. I couldn’t have you bleed out now, could I? Your other bandages weren’t doing much anyway.” He sounded annoyed. How could he be annoyed with me? I was the one who had been beaten. I was the one in agony.“Where are they?” I mutter, peering at my watch. A sharp pain shoots through my head. “I need to make dinner.”“That’s wh
NateHer eyes are wide as she stares at me. “He was turned?” Her voice breaks as she asks the question.“Yes, it would seem so. But it was a long time ago.”She pushes herself up off the chair. Her hand grips her ribs as she frowns. “You’re wrong! He would have told me! He told me everything.”“Elsa…”“Don’t Elsa me. I knew my Dad. He wouldn’t hide that. He would have told me. He was my Dad. She is lying to you. She's just making up shit like she always does.”“He wanted to, he was just waiting for you to be old enough to understand.” Kyra mumbles. But she is glaring at Elsa.Tears are threatening and with a single blink, they burst over. Elsa quickly wipes them away. Embarrassed by her outburst. Her blue eyes search mine. She wanted me to tell her it was all lies. That it was all made up, but I couldn’t do that. She needs to know the whole truth. She needed to hear what Kyra was hiding from her.“Tell her the rest.” I growl“I’ve told her.” Her stepmother cries.“What about the other
Elsa“No.” He holds his hands up in front of me. “Lola was caught up in something when she was a child. She was bitten. My Dad found her and took her in.”“Your Dad found her?”“In wolf form. She was five.”“Five? As in five years old?” I was shocked.“If anyone can understand what you are going through, it’s her.”“Alpha Nate.” A chocolate haired girl comes running towards us. Her face red as she huffed and puffed. “I’m sorry I’m late. There was a problem with the water and….”“It’s fine Lola, I was just showing Elsa around.” He smiles sweetly at her. The same smile he gave me when he pulled me out of the road.I didn’t like it.She smiles at me, her dark eyes are welcoming. Yet I didn’t feel welcomed. I felt protective.“Lola is going to show you around while I catch up with my guards.”Lola wastes no time in linking her arm with mine. She turns me out the door, apologising when I wince at the pain in my ribs.“You’re so lucky.” She whispers as we get out the door. “Alpha Nate has b
NateShe smelled good. A little turned on but she was fighting it. If only she wasn’t injured. I could have shown her that she didn't need to hide herself.“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have been watching you.” She whispers in the dark. Her eyes had finished transitioning if she could see me in the dark.“You can look as much as you want.” My voice is low as I fight against my own urges. I couldn’t have what I wanted until she was healed. “I’ve never…I’m not like that.” She mutters. As she clamps her legs shut. It takes me a moment to realise that she was telling me she was a virgin. Nineteen and still a virgin. It was rare. She rolls over to face me. Her face screwed up from the pain. “I haven’t even slept in the same bed as a man.”“Are you uncomfortable?” I would take the floor for the night if she were. She gives me a tiny shake of the head. “It’s just strange.”“I will keep my hands to myself, for now. Close your eyes and get some sleep.”I watched her for a while. Keeping my erection
Elsa“Inside!” He yells at me.“What are you going to do?”“It doesn’t matter. Lola, take Elsa inside.” His voice is low as he stares at the dead man. Mason's eyes shift between us. Lola quickly pulls me away.“What is he going to do?” I ask, hoping that she would give me a clear answer.“He thinks the man has been sent after you.” Her dark eyes refuse to meet mine. Her fingers fumble together as she bites her lip.“Me?”“It’s what you said. The man killed your father. Alpha Nate will most likely think he was here for you too.”“How would he know where I am?” I had an eerie feeling that I was being watched.Pulling the curtains closed, Lola raises an eyebrow at me.“Is it because Nate bit me?” I ask, nervously.“I don’t follow.”“My stepmother was disgusted by Nate biting me.”“He bit you, because you are his mate. That has nothing to do with the dead human.”“He was the same man that killed my father. Maybe he got lucky and found the pack.”She shrugs her shoulders at me. “The man kn
NateShe peers up at me with those baby blues of hers. Sometimes it was just the way she looked at me. I could feel the hunger inside of me. The need to be with her.“She’s good to go.” Doctor Ally breaks me from my thoughts.“Good. Home.” I mutter. Her baby blues narrow at me.“I didn’t mean to break the stitches.” She drops her eyes, still frowning“I know. I just have a lot on my mind.”“The meeting?” I nod my head. Though I was aware that the doctor was paying attention.“We will talk about it later. Ready?”She nods her head at me. Instead of picking her up, I let her walk. She stays a step behind me. Quieter than usual.“Are you alright?” Turning around, I see that she has stopped. Her eyes are on the group of Lycans that are sparring near the forest.Elsa jumps when I touch her. Letting out a little gasp“They’re not going to hurt you.”She takes a deep breath. “How do you hide yourselves so well?”“Rules.” I mutter, tugging her up to the house.“Rules.” She repeats “What if t
ElsaIt had to be lies. He would have told me. He told me everything. Nate tightens his arms around me. But I see how they all look at me. A look of pity.“That can’t be true. I knew my dad.”A few moments later Brant comes back into the room. He nods his head at Vella.“My Beta has just confirmed it is true.”It was too much. I felt sick. Everything I had known was a lie.“What is even more fascinating is you.” Vella is smiling“Me?”“You’re mother, you were told she died. Correct?” How did he know that?“During childbirth. My dad told me. Why? What do you know about my mother?”The more the conversation went on, the sicker I felt. I was certain I was going to vomit all over Nate.“She’s alive.”I had heard of stories where people felt like everything around them stopped. Like the whole world had come to a standstill. I didn’t imagine it to be like this. The silence was loud. I could hear my heart thudding like it was in my head. My stomach churned as I fought to keep the food inside
