Anna's POV

I slowly opened my eyes and took a moment to understand where I was. The room was dimly lit, and as my vision cleared, I saw Jack’s wicked grin staring back at me.

“Well, well, well,” Jack said with a smirk that made my skin crawl. His voice was filled with malice. “Look who’s finally awake.”

I attempted to sit up, but a sudden wave of dizziness hit me hard, forcing me to fall back onto the bed. I closed my eyes for a second, hoping the feeling would pass.

“What do you want from me, Jack?” I tried to sound brave, but my voice shook slightly.

Jack let out a mocking chuckle. “Oh, Anna. You’re so naive. You really don’t understand what’s happening, do you?”

I shook my head, pretending to be confused and unknowing. “I don’t know what you mean. What are you talking about?”

Jack raised one eyebrow, a glimmer of curiosity in his eyes. “Really? You have no clue about your… about Sarah? About me? Or the gold?”

I played along, keeping my expression blank. “sarah? You? Gold? What are

I knew I had to keep my composure for now; showing any emotion would expose my true feelings. I had a plan for revenge, and I didn’t want anything to mess it up.I forced a smile on my face, acting as if everything was perfectly fine. I could see Jack’s eyes narrowing as he took a step closer to the window. I could feel that he was confused and uncertain about me. His confusion played right into my hands, and that was exactly what I wanted.Just then, I heard the door of my hospital room creak open. Ethan stepped inside, and I noticed the concern etched on his face. His eyes moved quickly over my features, searching for signs of distress.“Anna, are you okay?” he asked, speaking softly as if he were afraid of the answer.I nodded while still managing to hold on to my smile. “I’m fine, Ethan. Just feeling a little tired, that’s all.”Ethan’s gaze remained fix

ANNA'S POVI blinked severally as if it would help me understand what he was saying because truly couldn't. My breaths were coming out laboured and shaky. Was there something I had missed?"I..I really don't get what you're saying Jack. I don't." I said, trying hard not to let the tears drop.I saw him roll his eyes. He does that when he's irritated or annoyed."What is there not to understand Anna?...."A WHOLE LOT!" I yelled. I covered my face with both my hands, trying to steady my nerves. "I'm so sorry for yelling. I didn't mean to." But his face was still the same - expressionless. Like what I was doing or saying meant nothing to him. • Christmas to Remember    Chapter 2-Back Home.

ANNA'S POV I took one last look at the house I had spent ten years of my life in before turning and entering the taxi that was to take us to the airport.Lily sat beside me giggling about our visit to granny, if only she knew. It didn't take long for us to arrive at pine hollow. The snow fell in hurried flutters, covering the small village in white. I shivered as I stepped out of the car, pulling my coat tighter around me. 8 year old Lily stepped out after me, her pink boots clinking after her.“Mom, look!” she twirled under the falling flakes, her laughter ringing out into the frosty air. “It’s like a snow globe!” I smiled faintly. Though my heart was heavy, I couldn't let Lily see it. I was home, but it really didn't feel like home just yet. The towering pine trees and the small stone cottages lining the village road were exactly as I remembered, but the warmth I had once felt was gone. Coming back here was a choice, it was my only escape.“Let’s get inside before we freeze,” I

  • Christmas to Remember    chapter 3 - Unplanned Encounter

ANNA'S POVI needed to get some air. After most of the morning dodging questions from my mother and curious glances from my father, I decided it was best to take a walk through the town. Maybe if I spend some time alone it would help clear my head and remind me of what I loved about Pine Hollow. The town didn't really change much in the years I’d been gone. The same cobblestone streets lined with festive garlands, the same little shops decorated with twinkling Christmas lights, and the same bakery where I’d spent so many afternoons as a teenager. It was nostalgic, yet suffocating. Unfortunately, the people here haven't changed. As I walked, I could feel their eyes on me—the silent stares from behind windows, whispers that stopped just as I turned around. They were talking about me. About the divorce. About Jack. No matter how much I tried to block it out, the murmurs snuck through. “She’s back.” “I heard he left her for another woman.” “Poor thing. And with a child, too.”

Ethan's POVAs I entered my house, I slammed the door shut. My cheeks burned with anger, and my fists were clenched beside me. Anna had such a strong head on her shoulders. I couldn't believe she would risk her life and safety and want to face jack head on. The nerve she had considering everything she stood to lose.I drag myself to the living room and thought about her, feeling proud of Anna’s strength and independence as a woman. Yeah, those qualities are what attracted me to her in the beginning. Instead of admiration or appreciation of her bravery, I felt annoyance. She had no sense of what she was jumping into. Jack was brutal and cruel and always got what he wanted. I walked around the living room non-stop hoping to ease my stress. I had no option but to reach out to her and make her understand. Her life was at stake, and she had to understand the repercussions of her actions, but whenever I tried to convince Anna, she would strike me as an irrelevant person who she could easil

I wanted to be alone, in a quiet space to fight the storm of feelings inside me.When I got home, I opened the door and slammed it shut hard. My chest was tight with anger as I stomped into the living room. The fury was so strong that it filled my head. I swept everything off the table with one swift move. Books, papers, and stuff spilled everywhere, but I didn’t care. The noise hardly reached my ears.I had never felt this much anger before. It was like a fire that wanted to eat me alive. My mind was crowded with thoughts of Jack—how he had lied, hurt my family, and left us broken. The betrayal was too much to bear, and it pressed down on me until my legs felt weak.Hot tears ran down my cheeks. Soon, my sobs were out of control. My body shook, overwhelmed by the hurt. I staggered to the couch, collapsing into it. I curled up, trying to protect my
