I kept staring at them, helpless. Why did they always have to behave like babies? Virg had also seen him, but she didn't react. But here they were, embarrassing me.
Was I supposed to talk now?
"She's not my girlfriend," Roy spoke first.
Phew, good.
I looked at him, smiled uncomfortably. "Can you give me a sec? I'd like to speak with them."
"Sure."
Turning to my two childish friends, I glared hard at them, took their hands, pulled them somewhere I wasn't sure of. Well, somewhere was the door of the store I just stepped out of.
I released their hands from my grip, sighed, and gritted my teeth. First, I turned to Bella. "What's wrong with you guys? Do you think it's funny?"
"Oh, yeah! We're just happy for you!" Barb shouted again. This girl seriously needed a zip on her lips.
"Stop, please." I brushed my palm through my face. "This truly isn't funny. I really don't know anything about him. He's just been… coming to me for a couple of days."
Barb tried as hard as possible to not laugh, biting her lip. And, Bella on the other hand, smiled like she was being forced to.
"I'll take that explanation." Barb cut the silence around us, dropped her hands on her waist, stared intently at me. "Anyways, since he's here with you, maybe you should just go with him."
I shook my head violently. "No, no. You guys should come with me, please. I don't wanna walk alone with him."
Before I'd say any other thing, Barb took Bella's hands, ran past me. "See you at home," they both announced, and jogged out of the vicinity.
I squealed in my palm, feeling so, so uncomfortable. Turning back to Roy, he was already smiling at me. As expected, Virginia was gone already. Gosh, I hated this.
Walking to him, I swallowed. To be honest, boys like him couldn't be trusted. What if he—
No. I guessed I just had to be less judgemental, and be positive instead. Maybe he just wanted to be friends with me.
"So…" I tugged my fist to my sweater, so nervous. "Do you want something?"
"Can we go now?"
I debated with myself. Could I go now?
"Okay." That came out of my mouth in a rush.
Saying that, I walked past him, still so confused that this guy had been coming to me for a couple of days. Again, what did he want?
***
"How many places do you work?" Roy cut the silence between us. Good, I was getting uncomfortable with the stupid silence.
"About three places." At first, I didn't want to reply to him, but I just thought of being nice. Maybe he truly wanted a friendship. At least, he hadn't said anything about a hookup since we had left that store.
"Wow, really?"
"Huh."
He sighed. "That's a lot of work, you know? I mean, how do you get to study at the same time? I feel it's quite stressful."
I snorted. "People who've got money, don't know what it means to need money. So, I don't know how to answer your question."
"It seems like you love to tease the rich, right?" He stood in his tracks. I wondered if it was because of his question, but then, I realized I was at the building of my dorm. Woah, woah, when did we get here? And, woah, woah, woah, how did he know my dorm?
I raised my neck to catch his gaze, stared dumbly. "Um, that's not it."
He chuckled for some reason, and looked away. "Not everyone who's rich, is happy."
"Huh?" I furrowed my brows at him.
"Anyways…" he returned to smiling, sighed. "I'll be leaving now. Thanks for your company. I really appreciate it."
"Oh. Okay."
"See you tomorrow." He winked, as usual, and turned to take his leave.
Again, and again, I just stood with widened eyes. I still needed an answer for the reason he was coming to me always.

I yawned, feeling drowsy. My reading lamp light was twitching at every second, signaling that I had to fix or change it soon. But, how'd I get a new one now? I was literally broke. I guessed I was always broke.
"Don't you think you should get a new one?" Virginia asked as she sat on her bed, which was opposite to mine.
I turned to her, rubbed my fingers against my sleepy eyes. "Oh. Yeah. I'll do that soon."
"Okay." She returned to studying.
I smiled. She was just so boring. She didn't even bother to speak about any other thing. And that was why I loved to read with her. If Barb and Bella were awake, I'd definitely be able to read nothing.
Turning back to my book, the thought of how Roy had been following me, made me Instantly bothered. He knew certain things about me, and I absolutely didn't like that. What if he was truly stalking me? That wasn't fine at all, huh?
Someone knocked on the door, which made me flinch from my thoughts. Knitting my eyebrows, I looked at Virginia. As well, she was looking at me.
"You're expecting someone?" She queried.
I shook my head. "Nope."
"Do you think we should open it?" There was some kind of fear in her tone. Fear? Really? Well, that was quite okay. It was weird for someone to come over, by this time of the night.
Slightly shaken, I stood from my bed, headed to the door. Reaching the door, I propped my neck forward. "Who's there?" I asked calmly.
"It's Sean," the person said. I sighed in relief.
Opening the door, I smiled a little. Why would he come by this time of the night?
"Hey, Sean," I greeted first.
"Noodles." He lingered a bag in the air. Ah, good! My favorite noodles.
A huge smile grew on my lips. I wanted those noodles so bad. But because I couldn't get enough money, I never bothered to buy it.
"Thanks. Would you come in?" I licked my lips, intertwined my fingers in each other.
"Let's stay on the balcony," he suggested.
"I'll join you there. Let me get my sweater."
Stepping back in, I took a thick cotton sweater since it was cold out there. And turning to Virg, I was surprised to see her smiling at me.
"That's a date, huh?" She winked. That wink definitely didn't suit her. She was too nerdy for that.
"You're silly," I remarked, and stepped out.
Walking into the hallway, I heaved a deep sigh. To be honest, staying with Sean wasn't so good. It reminded me of the time we used to… date. We had dated in our first year at the University. Due to my screwed up lifestyle, we had to break up. We had truly never had time for each other, so what was the point in the relationship?
As soon as I walked into the balcony where every student on this floor liked to stay, I bumped into Sean, which made me gasp. Blankly, we stared at each other. Again, I was seeing the handsome guy I used to like. Those adorable brown eyes, bright lips, bronze hair, high jaw, and the straight nose which featured in between those unreal arched eyebrows. He was just so cute.
He smiled warmly as he looked down at my 5"8 height. Raising his hand, he used his thumb finger to soothe my cheek. "You're so pretty tonight," he remarked. "As usual."
I blushed so much. Not wanting him to see my red cheek, I put my eyes down, bit my smile.
"Thanks," I said.
And before I'd say anything else, his lips met with my cheek. Gosh, what?!
"I miss you," he stated.
I tried blinking away my tears. This was not the time for him to miss me. When I had needed his support in the past, he had left, claiming he didn't want a busy girlfriend, although he had fully known that I was the breadwinner in my family.
"Let's just eat. I don't wanna—"
He raised my jaw so I'd look at him. Again, he pecked me on the cheek, without being permitted to. What was wrong with him?
"Don't worry about anything. I won't force you to come to me. I'll give you some time."
I nodded. "Good. Can we eat now?"
He chuckled and pinched my cheek. "Foodie. Alright, let's eat."
We sat on the small bench in here, served the noodles, ate and chatted all night.

"You smell like a rose." Sean played his nose through the skin of my neck, up to my hair, as we sat on the beach sand.Staring up at the Azure sky of the evening, I giggled at the feeling of his warm breath against my skin. He cupped his arms around me, pulled my back closer to his torso, although there was hardly any inch left between us. Leaning closer to my neck, he kissed it."I miss your tiny body. I love you." His naked chest locked to my back, causing goosebumps to rise on my skin."I love you too." My reply came out in a whisper. Since I was wearing a singlet, his lips could also make contact with the skin of my shoulder. He kissed my body passionately. Very passionately. And at this moment, I decided to enjoy his touch.I shut my eyes, inhaled the cool air that surrounded us. A low gasp left my lips when his hands moved to my waist, and before my body could react furt
Barb stared intently at me, not saying anything. We were seated in the school library, studying together. But, obviously, how would I study with a person like her? She was a great distraction to me."What?" I waggled an eyebrow at her, pressed my lips against each other. She batted her eyelashes, a weird smile on her lips. "Behind you," she whispered.I rolled my eyes. The drama Queen was back."You've got a test. You know that, right?" I said. She dropped her elbow on the table, cupped her jaw in her palm. "Yeah. I know. Don't tell me what I hate.""Okay." I returned to studying."Hey, Renee?" That voice startled me. Oh, no, no! Not again!I shut my eyes, ready to see the dude who had been stalking me."Hey," I returned his greeting as soon as he sat on t
I continued to gasp for air, but the middle aged man only stared blankly at me. I couldn't even tell what he would do next.Slowly, the corner of his lips formed a small smile. A smile that was almost like a smirk. And then, he released his grip against my arm."Hi, Miss?" He stepped backwards, putting his hands into the pocket of his trousers. My eyes were still widened, fear swaying through me. I was particularly dreaded because of the way mom had cried over the phone. What made her do that?"Who're you? What do you want?" I demanded. He chuckled, and muttered something I wasn't sure I had heard. Something like “mother-daughter”."You haven't answered me yet." I managed to remain dauntless, trying as hard as possible to catch my breath. He smiled. But, although his smile loo
Renee______I stared at Bella as she laid on her bed, weeping. To be honest, I hated to see her this way. If I had known she would see Jason today, I wouldn't have gone to the library with her. Since we had returned from school, she wasn't talking to anyone, doing anything."Gosh, this makes me sick," Barb murmured. Turning to her, I just sighed."Me too," I affirmed. "I'm so surprised to see her this way. I thought she had completely forgotten about him."She nodded, pulling a sad look. "I know, right? But what can we do? Don't you think we should talk to her now?""It's not like she'll listen," I said.Virginia scooted closer to Barb, smiled at me. Since I was sitting on Virg's bed, opposite to them, I could see them clearly."You know what? I think Renee's more experienced in things like this." She poked
A week had passed since I had seen Sean kiss that lady. Yep, I'd admit, I still wasn't fully able to get it off my mind. But seriously, was it my fault? Sean was the first guy I'd ever fall in love with, and the one I still kind of liked. Getting him off my mind was an absolutely huge task.Well, Roy on the other hand, had been coming to me frequently. After he had told me he felt something for me, I really wasn't getting myself. Even though he was being as calm and nice as possible, I had a strong feeling he was fake. That was how famous guys behaved. They just liked to use a lady, and dump her."Will you be attending the dance?" Bella stood up from her bed, walked to the wardrobe."You know I don't like parties. That's definitely not my thing," I told her the truth. Tugging a pillow to my chest, I sighed hard. To be honest, I would have considered going to that dance if Sean had to come with me.
I lowered my head, bit my lip, feeling so embarrassed. Fine, Roy and I had grown close in the last few weeks, he came here often, we chatted a lot more. But did that mean he should come here without telling me?This was so embarrassing.Rolling my fingers into a fist, I raised my neck to look at them. Barb had a crazy smile on her lips, and she winked at me. The moment I looked away, my eyes caught Virg standing by the threshold of the door which led to the corridor."Oh. I forgot to tell you that I poked you because I saw Roy coming," she uttered. Saying that, she walked back in.What was wrong with my friends?"You know what?" Barb smirked. She leaned forward, pinched my cheek. "Maybe we should leave you both. Bella and I need to catch up with something.""True," Bella affirmed, and winked too.I shoo
Okay, this was getting too annoying for me. I wasn't the type of lady who appreciated guys so much, so why the heck would they both be angry just because they wanted to go on a date with me? Was I Amy Walter, or Kathleen Carl? What was going on?"Yeah." Roy stepped closer to Sean, and that made me step backwards. Now, they were both gazing at each other. And since they were about the same height, they seemed like some wrestlers who were in the ring.Sean sighed. I could tell he was getting flustered. One thing I knew about him was, he never liked anyone to get on his nerves. When we had been dating, I had never dared to go to him when his mood was unstable. I would say he was short tempered. So, what if Roy was short tempered as well? That meant this was a war between two Goliaths. Absolutely. Crazy."Hey, guys." I gauged an anxious laughter, stood in between them. First, I tu
"Just ask Bella to do it!" I whined at Barb over the phone. I had only left my dorm about an hour and thirty minutes ago, but she had called about five hundred times already. She was complaining about Virginia not wanting to cook breakfast. How was that even my problem?!"Oh, so you're supporting Virg? Seriously?!" She cried.I slapped my palm against my forehead, sighed hard. "Jeez, girl, you could be annoying sometimes. I'm only giving my opinion. You can't keep calling me for little things like this. It's quite annoying.""Oh, so now, I'm the annoying one?" She sounded angry."Why can't—""Fine! Just get out. I'll sort it out myself. And till you return, I won't call you," she uttered."Barb, you've got to—""Bye!" And then, she hung up.I rolled my eyes, and stepped into the por
Hey guys, I want to appreciate everyone who reads this book. It means a lot to me. Sooooo, I know some of you might not be happy with the end, but I want you to know it's just a story. And wait, remain calm! There's going to be book two. This is more like a prequel, an introduction to their love story. Book two is titled: Chasing her. It'll be out soon. Yes. Soon. You don't wanna miss book two, do you? 🤔 How do you think it'll go when Renee finds out about this? This would be a second heartbreak, right? Or wait, how'll she find out? Roy's a great pretender, you know? And yeah, if Roy could betray her, don't you think there could be more craziness in this story? That's enough of a spoiler, right? Thanks to God for making this book complete, and thanks to everyone who read and supported t
The cool breeze staggered through us, teased my hair, causing goosebumps to rise on the exposed part of my skin. I smiled as I stared up at the sky, so happy. Particularly happy because Roy was with me. He had his arms around my waist from behind, no inch left between us."When will you return?" I asked him, my voice soft.He pecked my ear. "In a week. You'll miss me?""Hmm, maybe."He sighed. "Renee, I'm so glad we're finally going to be happy.""Me too." I sighed."I can't wait for you to graduate. We'll be able to leave here, and start a life together," he said. That melted my heart. So he also wanted to start a life with me? So nice."Yeah."Dropping another kiss on my ear, he stepped backwards, held my arms, and twirled me around to face him. He looked stre
"Pancake or?" I gave Mom a questioning look, waiting patiently for her to answer my question. She sighed. "Pizza. Just order a pizza.""Good." I grinned at her, rushing to get my phone from the living room. I was particularly happy because I wouldn't have to cook any longer.I logged in to the website of the store I loved to order food from, and ordered a pizza immediately. Done with that, I sauntered back to the kitchen.Stepping in, I sighted mom first. She was glued to her phone, and for some reason, sweat seeped on her forehead. Her eyes were widely open, and she swallowed. She looked tense."Mom?" Hearing my voice, she flinched. She blinked about two hundred times in one second, inhaled hard. "Oh, dear. Have you ordered the pizza?"I nodded, pulling a concerned look. "Mom, what's going on? Why do you see
I watched as Virg packed her stuff, tears in my eyes. Her mom was here to take her home. And, I didn't know when next I would see her. She said she wasn't sure she would survive the cancer, and thinking about that, I was even more fearful. I just couldn't think of losing her."When will the dorms be shut?" She asked, snapped her neck in my direction, smiled at me."Um…" I smiled to ensure she didn't notice the tears in my eyes. "Tomorrow, I think.""That means y'all will be leaving today, right?" She zipped her big box, starting to arrange her bed."Yeah. Barb left yesterday," I informed her."Honey." Mrs. Julio, Virg's mom, ambled into the room. This woman was definitely the youngest mom I had ever seen. Tall, slim, her dark skin so fresh, curvy figure, and her partial grey hair always neatly styled.
The elevator stopped when it reached the floor of Roy's Condo. Stepping out, I headed to the condo. Smiling, I took a glance at the cookie I had made for him. And, raising my neck, that was when I had to bump into someone. I would admit, I was quite clumsy.Ah. Shit. No. Not now. This moron, Kathleen. What the heck was she doing here? She scoffed. "Damn, you again? Whenever I see you, I always feel like starting my day over.""Stupid," I muttered, scoffed as well. "Woman, you think highly of yourself. Funnily enough, you've got a really low standard. A person who can stoop so low as stealing a babe's guy, has no class at all.""Blah blah." She flapped her hand in the air, rounded her eyes like the idiot she was, sneered as well. "Poor you. I'm so sorry for you. Like I'll say, that dude's mine. And it's so sad you're not willing to back off."I sighed in frustration. "
I moved my lips, but said nothing. I was so shocked. How had it happened? How had she gotten to meet a boy? This sounded too crazy to be true."Bella, how did it happen?" I managed to ask.She stopped wailing, put her eyes down, sobbed. "A few weeks ago, I went to the club. I wanted to speak with you, but you weren't there. Your boss said you weren't working that night. And then, I-I saw Jason there.""Jason?" I dropped my mouth. So she slept with that idiot? Really?"Yeah." She rubbed off the tears on her cheek. "He offered to have a drink with me, and I accepted. I didn't want to, but I thought it would be a good way to get rid of the stress I felt.""Oh goodness." Barb slapped her hands against her forehead, probably knowing where Bella was leading her story to.Bella sniffed. "We both got drunk. He drove us to the hotel, and then, we&hel
This bed was comfy, comfy enough for me to have a great sleep. I rolled on it, pulled the blanket over my naked chest, yawned as well. Wait, why was my chest naked?"Oh my gosh!" I sat up straight, gasped. I was on Roy's bed. Naked on his bed.Ah, quite embarrassing.I pulled the blanket up, to cover my chest, ran my fingers through my rough hair. Where was Roy? He wasn't on the bed. Did he go somewhere?Glancing up at the wall clock, I grumbled on seeing it was nine in the morning. First, mom would be so worried. Second, my roomies would be worried. Also, I wasn't supposed to sleep till nine!Heaving a sigh, my eyes caught the shirt I had worn last night. And, that brought a clear memory of how Roy had slipped off the shirt from my body, how he had almost ripped off my underwear, how he had adored my body. He had made my first time so memorable. I was gla
I wasn't hearing the honking car anymore. Was this death? Was I in heaven? But woah, I was still hearing the barking guys.I pressed my hands against my ears, not wanting to hear anything. I just kept weeping. I just wanted everything to be silent."Are you fine?" That voice was familiar. I knew that person.Slowly I raised my neck to spot whoever had asked me that. And, this instant, I knew a miracle existed. This was a miracle. A big one."Roy!" I jumped from the ground, cuddled him tightly. He dropped a kiss on my forehead, soothed my hair, sighed."Are you okay?" He asked."I'm so scared." I wept on his chest. "I thought they would kill me.""Don't worry." He cupped my jaw, looking so worried. "They won't hurt you any longer. I'm here to help you out."I nodded.
Something hit my eyes. Whatever that was, was hot, disturbing and crazy. It pulled me from my sleep, which was so annoying. I had to sleep. I hadn't slept so well in a long time.A knot kept my hands and legs captive. I tried to move on this bed, but it seemed impossible to. And, what in the world was this bed made of? Rock?As I yawned, my bad breath attacked my nose, which made me scrunch it. And, trying to sit up, I opened my eyes.I gasped. I was scared. I remembered all that had happened last night. My legs and hands were tied. I was sitting on a dusty floor, close to a terribly old sofa. I knew something had been wrong with where I had been sleeping, but I didn't know it was a floor not a bed.The thing that had pulled me from my sleep was the sun that passed through the silky curtain on the small window above my head. Where was this place?
