Chase sat there staring at me with his mouth wide open. I turned to look at Payton and Connor, and they had the same look.

"What?" I said in a high-pitched tone.

"Brie, are you sure? Do you even know what it all entails?" Payton asked me, her eyes wide with shock.

"Well, no, not exactly, but I'm sure you can all fill me in. Doesn't he just bite me, then you know, I turn?" I asked with a shrug.

"Oh, no honey, there is so much more to it than that. Chase, you need to tell her," she said while sitting down in the armchair. Connor dropped on the floor beneath her, stretching his long legs out in front of him. My gaze landed on Chase as I waited for him to explain.

"Well, first I'd have to talk to my uncle and try to convince him to let me take over early as Alpha. We don't usually take over until were twenty-five..."

"Yeah, good luck with that," Connor chuckled.

Chase growled at him and Payton slapped him on the head.

After my accident, everyone tried to convince me that I'd hallucinated seeing Jesse. They insisted that they'd had a traditional werewolf funeral for him, and that me thinking that I'd seen him that day was because of the knock to my head when the car hit me. And even though common sense and logic told me they were all right, in my heart, I still held hope that he was alive.I'd started up classes again and decided against joining the cheerleading team despite the insistence of most of my Sorority sisters. Instead, I focused on track and took up my old ritual of an early morning run. This morning I was up at four forty-five, had a protein shake, and left by five.Chase didn't like me going for a run alone and kept going on about Alphas, Sires and, kings. Blah, blah, blah. He would send different guys out with me each morning to run behind me, or Arabella would come with me, but today I left an hour early so that I could get some peace. I needed to clear my he

It had been nearly six months since Chase left. I’d spent weeks trying to call him and sent thousands of texts, but eventually, his phone was cut off completely. I tried asking Arabella about him, but she just said he was off travelling, and she barely heard from him. I didn't want to put her in the middle. so eventually, I quit asking.I focused on my classes, and track, even began training every morning with Arabella. Running against a team of werewolves was not easy, but I was slowly catching up. Being heartbroken helped in a weird way, and I pushed myself as hard as I could. The physical pain during and after running took away the ache in my heart, even if it was only for a short while.I already knew I was delusional before Chase left, but now I was certain. My visions of Jesse, which brought both joy and confusion, disappeared along with Chase. After a while, I began to think of Jesse less and less, and even when he did pop into my mind, I didn't feel g

“Fiancé? What the hell is he talking about, Bell?" I screamed over the crowd of cheering people. And when I looked back at Chase, his eyes were searing into me. It didn’t deter me. My gaze burned right into his, confusion warring with sadness contorting the features on my face. His shoulders fell and his head dropped as he stepped forward, moving toward me.The crowd was too thick, though, and besides that, Arabella had already started dragging me away, weaving through the mass of people and moving into the kitchen. She took me out the back door and pushed me towards her car. When we were close, I yanked my arm from her grip while she struggled to find her keys in her purse."You can't drive, Bell! You've been drinking!""No, no, it's fine. I haven't had that many," she replied with her head still in her purse. A huge smile spread across her face when she pulled her keys out, dangling them in the air in triumph.I shook my head at her. "I'm

The next few months were difficult. Chase and I had to sneak around, spending time alone whenever we could. Olivia was great because she was sneaking around seeing Claudia, but for her, at least she could be seen in public. All Claudia had to do was shift into Chase, and as long as they didn't get too close to werewolves, they could be together anywhere in town. We worked out a system. When Chase and I wanted to get away for the weekend—or even just for a night—Olivia and Claudia would come too. Chase and Olivia would leave together, as not to raise suspicion, and then Claudia and I would meet them there. It was exhausting and sometimes confusing, but I couldn't lie, it was exciting as hell. Sneaking around made us lust after each other even more, and the sex was even more mind-blowing. I did find myself getting jealous a lot, though. Sure, I knew it was all an act to keep everyone in the dark but seeing Chase and Liv's public displays of affection had me fuming. Angry s

I lowered myself back down to the ground and sat in silence while I wondered who that another blond wolf was. I knew one was dead. Whether or not that was Chase, I didn't know, but from the looks of it, Chase's families wolves were always blond. Maybe it was his father, mourning the loss of his son or brother? Either way, I felt sorry for the wolf, and myself.I sobbed into my hands, not knowing if I had just lost another man that I loved. I wanted to know for sure, but I was too chicken to go back and find out."Brie?"I lifted my head and saw Dawson. He rushed towards me when he saw that I was crying, knelt down, and pulled me into his embrace, where I sobbed into his chest."Why are you crying?" he questioned."Chase? Is he?""Chase is fine. He killed the Alpha."I sat back and searched his eyes to see if he was being truthful, and I noticed the soft smile on his face. I could tell that he felt sad, probably because even thoug

  • Chased By The Light   Chapter Thirty-Three ~ Open This Damn Door

I spent the night alone in my room. Payton tried to comfort me, and Arabella tried to get me to eat, but I refused to open the door for either of them. I was feeling sorry for myself and I didn't want to deal with anyone. A bubble bath sounded nice, so I took one and soaked in it for hours. By the time I got out, the water was stone cold, making me think I might have fallen asleep at some point. After I dried my hair, I headed to bed, only to be woken in the morning by banging on my door.I groaned and rolled over in bed, pulling the duvet over my head. I didn't even bother to ask who was there because I just assumed it would be Payton or Arabella, and I didn't want to listen to their pity or pep talks. The banging on the door got louder and louder. They wouldn’t take no for an answer, I guessed, but they were going to have to."Aubrey, open this damn door!" Chase yelled."Chase?" I said, shock making the word come out slow."Yes! Now, are you goi

I laid there in Chase's arms after a night of the most incredible sex I'd ever had. It was strange, since becoming Alpha he was more animalistic than usual, and I wouldn’t lie, I loved it. But this morning, I was aching and completely exhausted. He, on the other hand, was raring to go. He kissed my neck, sending tingling shivers down my spine. I groaned a little."Chase, no. I'm exhausted."He growled lightly against my neck, sending another wave of shivers through me."Please, baby. I'll be gentle, I swear. Just one more time. I want the feeling of you cumming all over my cock to be etched into my mind all day. I need it to get me through. It should be us spending the day together before our wedding."Without saying a word, I grabbed his face and kissed him. My tongue slipped into his mouth to greet his. I swung my leg over him and reached for his excited cock, placing the tip at my entrance. As I eased it inside, he groaned into my mouth, so I grinded

When it got to seven a.m., I decided it was pointless trying to sleep. I got up and went for a shower, before getting dressed. Sitting on my bed, wracked with nerves, I glanced at my phone. No messages. I thought Chase might have messaged me, considering he was trapped in the house in the woods. But he didn't. Then I remembered how drunk he was last night and figured he was sleeping off a hangover.I startled when I heard a tap on the door. Heart pounding, I hoped it was Chase."Brie?" Payton called out.My heart rate slowed back down. "Yeah, come in."She walked in holding a dress bag. Looking elegant, she wore a dusty aqua blue bridesmaid’s dress. It was long to the floor, but nipped in at the waist, showing off her curves. It also had one thick strap that went across the top of her chest and over her shoulder, and as she walked past me, I could see that the strap flared out into a train at the back.It was stunning, and I smiled afte

I sat on the porch wearing my fluffy socks, fleece pyjamas, gloves, hat and a super soft grey blanket that I'd wrapped around me. Our beautiful winter was in full swing and Christmas was only a few days away. I had my hands around a large mug of coffee and took occasional sips as I gazed out over our immense snow-covered yard. Chase and Jesse, we're in the middle of a snowball fight with the kids and usually I would be joining right in with the festive fun, but being heavily pregnant meant lots of rest and sitting on my ass. I didn't mind though, I'd so can't the last few winters making snow angels and building snow men with the boys. So, it wasn't like I hadn't mad memories with them in their five years on this earth. We’d been through a lot, but life had been pretty perfect. Our relationship was sealed when I had the twins and even though we didn't know which kid belonged to who, Chase and Jesse didn't care and neither did I. We were a family and that's all that mattered. All the pa

The guys continued their game and every time I guessed the wrong guys touching or kissing my body, I was punished. From being whipped, slapped, and bitten, but how sexually aroused I was they didn't seem all that much like punishments. I didn't know if it was the heat or the fact that Jesse's sexual preferences had finally rubbed off on me. I was drenching the bed by this point and a knot had formed in my stomach from the insatiable need for them to ravish me. The treats I got for guessing correctly went from a kiss, to full on licking me out and even though I came a few times, I still needed more. I wanted them inside of me. My body wanted their seed. Chase was currently licking and gently hitting the inside of my thighs. My legs were shaking uncontrollably and I knew my body had gotten to the stage that it couldn't take the teasing any longer, so I begged Chase.“Please! Fuck me!” My words were released on the end of deep breaths and those were the only words I could manage to get o

I’d been visiting Chase and Jesse at the medical centre where they’d been kept for a few days. When I first saw them, I was in complete shock. They were black and blue, and their faces were so swollen that I couldn’t even tell who was who. Fast healing was one of the things I definitely appreciated about our breed and with them being Sentinels, they healed even faster. Today was the day that they were both due to come home and I’d worked my ass off all morning making the house perfect for their return. I wanted them to come home and us get straight on with the mating ritual, because my heat was in full swing, but the packs needed to see them too. So, I let them organise a party for them. Of course, I couldn’t attend because of my excessive pheromone production. They had been under sedation when I visited them, and we made sure no male doctors or staff were around during my visits. We sorted it out that they would have the party at my parent’s pack house rather than ours, so I just had

I was thrown onto the bed and I still didn't have a clue who was with me. I prayed to God that it was Chase and Jesse, and that my what was in full swing so I wouldn't go bat shit crazy on them and literally bite their heads off like a praying mantis. I couldn't understand why we couldn't catch a break. If the universe or fates or whoever wanted us three to be mated together and be strong Sentinels, then why the fuck were they ripping out lives apart now? Maybe it was a test to see if we deserved to have this life and be together? It didn't matter, I was fed-the-fuck-up of dealing with all this shit. I just wanted an easy and calm life. Was that too much to ask for?Whoever had thrown me on the bed placed his hands either side of my legs and leaned over me, sniffing my hair and my face. His warm breath on my cheek made my skin crawl, and that was when I knew it wasn't Chase or Jesse. I had to think fast before they had their way with me. I could feel my Sentinel powers tingling in my

I yanked my hands away from the guys and just managed to jump out of my chair and dive across the room as the wild men launched themselves at me. They weren't themselves any more, their feral instincts had taken over them. I'd seen it once before my cousin was at our house for dinner with her new mate and he ripped the whole dining room apart trying to get to her. I was only a young teenager and it scared the crap out of me. When I bonded with Chase and Jesse, I never thought about coming into heat, especially not this soon. Usually, it takes around six months, but I forget that the women in our family come into heat early. Although, never this soon. It's been less than twenty-four hours for Christ’s sake, I haven't been able to enjoy them as the men I love.“Mom! I'm in heat! Help!”While mind linking my mom, I sprinted toward the basement door. Every pack house has a safe room and ours has a nesting room. We had it set up the way me and Jesse wanted it, bit I wasn't expecting to use

I’d managed to fall asleep somehow. How I did with all that anxiety and embarrassment running through me, I don’t know. When I finally awoke the sun was rising in the sky. I could smell the morning dew and hear the birds chattering outside. Their songs were sweet, some what enthusiastic and it bought a smile to my face. But the smile was short lived. As soon as I remembered our naked escapades, the embarrassment took over again. I wondered if everyone had left. Well, I hoped they had. I couldn’t bare to face my family or the packs this morning. I dragged myself out of bed and went to the bathroom to get ready for the day. Once back in my room, I didn’t feel like getting dressed properly so just pulled on some boyfriend style panties, then tugged on a pair of black three-quarter length leggings and a gray tank top. I finished the look with an over sized gray cardigan and a messy wet bun on top of my head.I could have easily of jumped back into bed and slept the day away, but something

Chase and I kept running through the trees like giddy fawns. We couldn’t believe how lucky we'd been. Irene turning up, right when we were trying to escape seemed like fate had planned it all out for us. It felt great knowing we had a higher power on our side. Sure, I knew that if Irene and her brothers survived the Soulderians, they'd hunt down Chase. She won’t let him go that easy. I mean if she was willing to sacrifice her life by fighting the black witches, there was nothing that could stop her from getting Chase back. The triplets had been running from the Soulderians all their life, so risking her own life and her brothers meant that she did Love Chase, in her own murderous and twisted way.If it went the other way and the triplets lost, I would be next on the Soulderians list and if they managed to extract the Titagel’s powers, I doubted that we stood much chance against them. They were power-hungry and beneath Irene and her brothers, I was classed as the next most powerful bei

I didn’t sleep well at all. The stone floor made places hurt that I didn’t even know I had. But when I opened my eyes and saw my crazy bearded soul mate, my pain didn’t matter any more. All that mattered to me, was getting us out of there. I sat up and stretched. My aching bones clicked and cracked and it felt good. My noise made Chase wake up.“Morning, babe,” he said sleepily.“Morning.”I knew he'd only just opened his eyes, but I needed answers and wanted to go over some ideas on how we could escape.“How do you remember me?”“Irene cast a spell so I could remember her, but it let me remember everything.” He sat up and stretched his legs out. With his back pressed up against the wall he continued, “I had to pretend that I loved her. She was highly jealous and killed any girl that showed interest in me.”“Oh God, Chase. I am so sorry you had to go through that.”“Well, it is what it is.” He turned his body to face me and pulled his knees up and wrapped his arms around them. I faced

Without even thinking about it, I ripped my hands away from my eyes and screeched into the air,“Stop!”Shana's screams ceased and all the cloaked men turned to face me. I glanced down at my hands and they had a glowing gold aura around them. Two of the men whispered to someone in a red cloak.“She's a Sentinel,” one said.“I thought they were a myth,” the other added. The red-cloaked man raised his hand to silence them, then approached me. When he reached me, he grabbed my face and turned my head from side to side, then stared into my eyes like he was looking for something.“Curious.
