CHAPTER FIVE

KATHRINE’S POV

“Mom. Is it true that my Dad abandoned us and that's why we don't live with him?” Rex, my four-year-old son, asked me.

“No, honey. Who said so?” I asked him.

“My classmates,” He pouted. The sadness I saw in his eyes broke my heart.

I held him close and sighed as I began to reminisce about my past. It had been four years since I left Tyler’s life.

I should have waited for him to come back that day so I could explain myself and tell him I was pregnant for him but decided not to after I was framed by goddess knows who.

But I realized that even though we settled things, there were still chances that my love life with him was going to face so much hardship because almost everyone was so against it.

That's why I left and came to Ravenmoon pack which was far away from Tyler’s pack. I got rid of my old phone and used a new one so that he wouldn't be able to reach me.

He didn't even care to look for his child and I because I was sure Kelly told him that I was pregnant and that annoyed me the most.

Luckily when I got here I met Julian, my close friend back in high school who traveled abroad to study and we lost contact.

He helped me get a Job here at their hotel and I gave birth to Rex. I have been working as a receptionist since then.

“That's not true Rex. Your daddy is in a good place. And remember I’ll be getting married to Julian and he will be your daddy,” I answered and he cheered.

Rex was very fond of Julian because Julian had been here for us since his birth.

And yeah, I was getting married to Julian soon even though my heart still yearned for Tyler because I didn't accept his rejection.

Julian rejected his mate and since then his parents had been pestering him to get married and he approached me with the deal.

I found it convenient because Rex adored Julian and so did Julian and I needed a father figure for Rex.

Most importantly I wasn't bothered because I knew Julian didn't have feelings for me and neither did I so I felt the marriage would go on smoothly for us.

His family also liked me, so everything was going smoothly and our marriage was next month.

I prepared Rex for school and took him to school. My baby boy had his father's eyes and height.

That was why I always thought about Tyler because looking at Rex reminded me of him.

I dropped Rex off at school and kissed him goodbye before I rushed to work because I was already late.

************

Reaching my workplace, I took over from Violeta, my colleague who had been helpful and was now my best friend.

“Seriously? You came late and you know I’m supposed to go see Brad’s parents today?” She complained.

“I’m sorry,” I apologized and rushed to wear my uniform.

When I came back, she hurriedly left because she was seeing her mate's family for the first time that day.

I began cleaning my counter and mistakenly hit the coffee I bought, making it fall to the ground. I cussed and bent down to pick it up.

When I stood up, my heart skipped a bit when I saw Tyler standing in front of my counter.

I used my hands to clean my eyes because I thought it was just my imagination but he was still standing there with widened eyes too.

“Kat?” He called out looking unsure.

How on earth did he find me? Or was this just a coincidence?

“It’s you!!! I'm so sorry for not believing you, I found out that Elayne was the one who planned all that. I searched for you but couldn't find you,” He said in a rush.

The fact that he said he had been searching for me warmed my heart but I decided not to indulge him.

It was best if we wouldn't be together because I didn't see any good coming from it. I only saw problems upon problems.

“What can I do for you, sir?” I asked him formally hoping I would get the message and go away.

But he sighed and walked closer to my counter and wanted to hold my hand but I shoved his hand away.

Of all time he knew to show up in my life and that if his son it was now that I would soon be getting married to Julian.

“Please, I’m sorry. I didn't mean to reject you. I thought I would meet you back at home and talk things out. I’m sorry please just….” He didn't get to finish because that was the moment Julian walked into the hotel.

I ran and went to hug Julian, making him crease his brows as he looked at me but still hugged me.

“Act like we are in love. Rex’s Dad is here,” I whispered into his ears while hugging him.

When we pulled away he looked at Tyler with curiosity as we walked over to him.

The fact that his Jaws were hardened pleased me. He should feel an ounce of the humiliation I felt.

I walked back to my counter with a confident smile on my face.

“Alpha Tyler?” Julian asked.

“What do you want?” Tyler asked with a frown.

“I’m Julian McKenny. We are supposed to meet here,” Julian said, corking a brow up and whispering something into Tyler’s eyes.

I was curious as to what was said and then it hit me that Julian must have known he was my mate who rejected me because I showed him a picture of Tyler.

What is Julian up to? Why would he do this? my wolf, Madeline said in my head before I cut off communication with her.

I didn't want to miss anything that would be said between Julian and Tyler.

“Kat, can I talk to you for a second?” Tyler asked softly.

“I’m at my duty post right now,” I answered curtly.

I was still hurt and angry by how he judged me quickly and thought I really cheated on him.

“Okay, then give me your phone number or better still a dress so we can talk later when you close from work,” He pleaded and I almost wanted to give in but shook the thought from my mind.

“Uhm…. With all due respect, Alpha Tyler, Kat is taken. She is my fiancèe,” Julian answered and smirked but masked it away quickly.

“What?” Tyler exclaimed in shock and looked at me and I nodded in confirmation.

I felt this was the best. It was for our good for us to remain apart.

He turned and walked out of the hotel and the moment he was outside the door of the hotel, something happened.
