After the farce ended, I stayed home for three days at my father's request.

During this time, Eugene kept reaching out to me. He called me, but I didn't answer, so he called my father instead.

But my father didn't take his calls either. After that, Eugene kept standing outside our house for three nights.

On the third evening, it was drizzling.

Eugene remained rooted to the spot, soaking wet but unmoving. Frustrated, I reluctantly got dressed and went downstairs.

The moment he saw me, his eyes lit up, and he flashed me a smile. "Sherlyn, you're finally willing to see me."

I dodged his attempt to hold my hand, saying in a flat tone, "Eugene, no matter what you do, I'm determined to call off our engagement."

"Sherlyn, have you fallen for someone else?" Eugene choked out, his hands by his side clenched into fists.

It seemed like he was bearing a great injustice.
