Lies

LIES.

I stared at the chandelier as its stones collided with each other.

To my greatest surprise Ares didn’t turn to look at who interrupted our love making. He continued to thrust into me with every ounce of strength he had. 

“My Alpha, you are making the biggest mistake of your life,” Lita yelled, her voice sounded so cracked so it took me a couple of minutes to realize that she was the one yelling.

Ares stops and turns to look at her, he remained quiet while his attention was still fixed on her.

Turning back to me, his entire being was consumed with rage. He rolled away from me, covering his body with bed cover while I used the other half to cover mine.

I was so confused. What was happening? What was Lita talking about?

Anger thrummed through her veins. She struggled to breathe while she rested on the door, holding her stomach.

She yelled again “You are making the biggest mistake of your life, she is not one of us!”

Ares snapped “How dare you come into my chambers forcefully? Are you out of your mind,” his loud voice bounced on the walls and back into my ears.

It was strident. It was excruciating and terrifying.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart.

My intrusive thoughts were right afterall, someone heard Amelia.

She must have ran as fast as she could when Amelia opened the door and I was so dumb not to put meaning into Lita’s glare at the gathering.

“Tell him the truth, you traitor. Tell him!” shouted Lita.

“I do not know what you are talking about,” I replied Lita calmly, burying myself deeper into the bed cover.

i was dead on my feet.

“Traitor!” she screeched.

“QUIET!”  Ares vociferated vehemently.

“ No! you will not shut me up when I am trying to help you.

She is our enemy, she is from Elisiva pack! I knew something was up with her, ever since I set my eyes on her I knew something was strange and different about her and then to my greatest shock I overheard her telling Amelia,” Lita said abruptly.

Alpha Ares thought for a while before regarding me, “Daphne is it true?” 

I searched for escape routes in his room but all his windows were above my reach.

What should I do? Daphne! Think!

“I am fully a member of our great Siracusa pack,” I lied blatantly.

“Lies!” Lita charged at me, snarling and growling. Her claws were outstretched as she swiped them towards my face.

I dodged the attack, rolled down from the bed with all the bed cover to myself.

 She lunged forward, I snarled in pain as she sank her claws into my neck.

Ares held her hand and pushed her onto the wall. Her head collided on the wall and she instantly fell to the ground.

My body is soaked with my whole blood. Holding my neck with one hand and covering my body with my other hand I walked slowly to the door.

“Do not try it,” he ordered

As I paused to listen to the next word he would say, Amelia burst into the room like a hurricane, her face flushed and her eyes wide with terror. She was gasping for breath, and sweat dripped from her forehead down her shoulders and onto the floor. It was as if she had been running for her life.

" I heard some an disturbing noise and I thought someone might in danger," she said.

Roving her eyes, she gasped as she saw Lita on the floor, me who was in front of her holding my bleeding neck and her furious Alpha behind me.

She tore a strip from her hem, her eyes wide with panic, and rushed to my side. Her fingers trembled as she pressed the clothing against my wound, her breath coming in ragged gasps. I groaned as the pain seared through my flesh, but her touch was gentle and reassuring.

"What happened?" She asked.

"Traitor!" Blurted Lita, who was still on the floor-trying to get up.

Amelia questioned,"Is she alright?"

"No, she must have hit her head so hard" I stuttered.

" Amelia!" Ares stood up straight and puffed himself.

"Yes, Alpha Ares" she bent her head in respect.

"Before you came in Lita reported something unacceptable to me."

"My Alpha" she raised up her head to look at him, her hands still pressed on my neck.

"She reported that Daphne does not belong to SIRACUSA PACK but rather to Elisiva pack," he said with an angry voice. One that could kill a person before the person is actually killed.

"That would be so absurd, My Alpha. She is my dead sister's daughter. She is my neice" she kept her promise.

" I do remember the time you said you lost a family member. May her gentle soul rest in tranquility."

"Perhaps, Lita should not allow jealousy consume her. Daphne has been chosen chosen there is nothing anyone can do about that," said Amelia in confidence.

Lita sat in silence. She lost the battle.

I felt relief wash over like a downpour of rain. I removed Amelia's hand from my neck. It became too heavy.

"Get the maids immediately and Keil too" Ares commanded and Amelia dashed out immediately.

They all came to our aid, taking me into a different room and Lita into another different room. Amelia stood by my side and watched the maid stitch my wounds carefully.

I winced in pain as the needle pierced my skin. She apologized and continued stitching. Her movements were precise and delicate.

Finally, she tied off the last stitch and cut the thread. she stepped back and admired her work. My wound was now closed.

She turned to the patient and smiled. "All done," she said. "You're going to be fine."

"Everyone, leave" a deep male's baritone echoed. It was Ares.

Ares walked in and closed the door quietly,

I felt a surge of fear over my entire body.

Did he believe Lita?
