ARABELLA.
"So what happened last night?" Dex asks as we stride down the hallway and I say, "What happened?"
He gives me a side-eye. "The party?"
"Oh, right. The party. " I mumble, and he tilts his head to my side, "Are you okay? You've been acting weird since I picked you up. "
"I'm alright. I didn't stay long at the party though. " I tell him, and just as he opens his mouth to speak again; Peter appears in front of us with a sad expression on his face as he calls my name, "Arabella. "
I sigh. "What do you want, Peter?"
"Why didn't you respond to any of my texts? And you can't tell me you missed them, Bella. I know you didn't. " He says and I raise my shoulder, "I didn't want to. "
"You didn't want to respond to my texts?" He repeats and I hum. "Does that come as a surprise to you?"
"Are you still mad at me?" He asks and I let out a small laugh. "Why'd I be? Did you do something for me to be mad?"
"Babe. " He drawls and I look away from him. "Can you move? I don't want to be late for class. "
"Ara—" he steps closer, and tries to grab my wrist, and Dex moves in front of me as I step back. "She clearly doesn't want to talk to you, dude. Maybe later. "
Peter looks over his shoulder at me, before he nods and turns to walk away. I watch as his frame disappears out of sight before I step in front of Dex and continue my walk.
"Do you want to talk about that?" He asks when he catches up with me and I say, "A girl kissed him, and he was going to kiss back if he didn't see me. "
"What?" He exclaims and grabs my arm, stopping my movement. "You're serious?"
"Do I joke about something like that, Dex?"
"Why didn't you tell me this sooner? I would have reconstructed that face for him, I swear. " He growls and I shake my head, "No, you won't do that. "
"Yes, I will. Why the fuck would he do something like that?" He argues and I say, "Don't do anything stupid, Dex. He's still my boyfriend, and I just need him to realize what he did wrong. Plus, she went to him first. "
Dex narrows his eyes at me. "Are you being serious?"
"What?"
"You know, sometimes, you truly confuse me, Ara. Are you furious at the boy or not?"
"Of course, I am. " I say. "But he didn't initiate it, so it wasn't entirely his fault. "
"But he was going to go along with it until he saw you?" He points out and when I don't give an answer quick enough, he sighs and says, "I know you like him, babe, but I don't think you should overlook that fact. That means if you weren't there, he'd have kissed the girl and you honestly shouldn't put up with that. "
With a squeeze of my shoulder, he says, "I'll see you in the next class. "
I lift my head. "Where are you going?"
When he gives me a knowing smile, I groan, "Seriously? You're leaving to stalk her again?"
"I just want to see her before class. Don't miss me too much, pumpkin. "
"Fuck off. " I tell him, and he laughs, pressing two fingers to his lips, then to my cheek.
"You know I hate maths. " I tell him when he starts to pull away and he laughs again, "Oh, baby. You're in your senior year. You'll have to find a way to love maths if you want to graduate. "
"Just leave. " I tell him with a wave, not letting him say another word before I turn away and head in the direction of my first class.

I click decline to another one of Peter's calls as I stop in front of the house.
"Fuck. " I cuss under my breath when I realize the gate is locked. Raising my phone, I put a call to Ashley and she picks on the second ring.
"Hey, Arabella. Is everything okay?" Her voice is loud and I have to pull back the phone a bit before I press it back to my ear with my second hand closing the other. "Where are you and why's it so loud?"
"We have that dinner party today. Did you forget?" She says from the other end, the noises getting lesser till her voice becomes clear and there are only the tiny sounds of voices.
"That's today? I thought it's meant to be tomorrow?" I respond and she chuckles, "It's today, baby. What's wrong? Do you need anything?"
"Yeah. I'm home, and I'm locked outside. "
"What about your key?" She asks and I shake my head. "I didn't bring it with me. "
"Oh, shit. That's trouble, and I don't think it'd be— oh wait, can you stay with Dex till we get back? We'll try to quicken things up for you. " She suggests and I hum, "Alright. You guys have fun. "
"Take care, sweetheart. " And the line disconnects.
With a sigh, I scroll down my contacts and click on Dex. As I glue the phone to my ear, there's the sound of drizzle, and I furrow my eyes and lift my head to the sky to see darkness has settled over the clouds.
"You've got to be kidding me. " No longer than the words leave my mouth, a drop falls then another and another, till it starts to pour and I move back against the gate with a hiss.
"Great. It couldn't get any worse. " I mumble as Dex's line rings continuously before it declines and I lower my phone. Looking down at my legs, the edge of my shoes is covered with dirt, and I sigh, holding a hand over my head as I try Dex's number again. When it drops just like the first time, I turn to the gate and the thought to climb over it crosses my mind but that thought is quick to flush down the drain when the terrible outcomes that could turn out to be my fate register along with it.
Turning away from the gate, I look ahead of me to the house that's only steps away with lights reflecting through the window, and I shake my head.
"No, Arabella. You'll not go there. You don't even know him that way. " I caution myself as I look away from Alexander's house.
When the splatters of the rain start to get worse, reaching up to my socks, nearly at the end of my skirt with my hair sticking to the side of my face; I mumble a curse before I run towards the direction I never wanted to.
I stand in front of the door and blink a few times before I make contact with my knuckles against the door. When I don't receive a response, I repeat the action and I'm about to make the fifth attempt when the door suddenly opens, revealing Alexander with a small towel in his hair and water trickling down his naked chest.
I gulp as I let my eyes roam down the skin to the towel that hangs low on his hips and I shamelessly glare at the spot, forgetting for a second what I'm here for.
"What do you want?" His voice brings me out of my thoughts and I lift my head to his face, redness coating my cheeks at the fact that he just watched me watch him.
"Um, hi—" I start with a nervous smile, only to be distracted by the hand holding the towel over his head, showcasing his biceps. God, why does he looks so good doing that? And what the fuck are you doing, Arabella?
I shake my head twice to gather my thoughts and with a clear of my throat, I start again, "Hi. My family isn't home, I'm locked outside and it's pouring. Do you think I can stay here for a while?" When he doesn't say a word, I'm quick to add "I promise not to disturb you. "
He remains mute as his eyes roam down my wet body, and I'm suddenly conscious of the black bra peeping through my wet shirt. I close my hands over my chest and when Alexander meets my eyes again, I give him an awkward chuckle.
He looks behind me to the rain before he takes a step to the side, and I take several deep breaths before I move my leg, allowing myself to step feet into his house.
ARABELLA. "Thank you. " I mutter to him as I stride inside while he closes the door. I wait for him to move before I follow him, and he stops in the middle of the living room. Without much thought, I allow my eyes to run across the room. It looks almost the same as mine, except this is dressed in white instead of the usual classic blue. "Stay here for a minute. " I hear Alexander say, bringing my attention back to him and I nod. He gives me one more glance before he turns away, and I don't fail to let my eyes follow him, shamelessly admiring the bare view of his back. After he disappears through the corner, I look down at myself and wipe my hand down my shirt. "Here you have it. " Alexander appears again, and when I turn my head to him, he's dressed in black sweatpants that hang quite low on his hips and looks too good than I'd love to notice, bare-chested with his hair falling over his head in curls and holding out a shirt to me. "Oh, you don't have to—" "You're wet. " He say
ARABELLA. "Ara. " I hear Dex whisper behind me, but I don't turn to him, and when he calls my name again; I raise my shoulder slightly and tighten my grip on the brush, focusing on the faint yellow lines across the board. "Arabella!" He calls in a tiny yell this time and I groan, turning to meet his eyes. "What?" I snap and he pushes his head back, looking a bit taken aback. "Damn. Why are so pissed?" He asks and I sigh, "You know how I am when it comes to art class. You aren't exactly helping me focus. " A half-truth, and a half-lie. For the other half, I'd rather keep to myself, and ignore the fact that it truly bothers me. "Are you sure that's all this is about?" Dex asks and I throw him a small smile. "Of course it is. I'm sorry for snapping at you. What do you want?""Nothing. " He replies nonchalantly before a grin takes over his face as he grabs his phone. "I just want to show you this picture. "Before Dex turns his screen to me, I know what awaits me and the surprise does
ARABELLA. My hands slowly move to his waist, and I find myself kissing him back, trying to follow his guide as he slowly tilts my head and a shameful sound of pleasure leaves the back of my throat as his tongue lowers mine. All too soon, his lips leave mine and he looks into my eyes for some seconds before he leans back, his touch disappearing along with his space, and I don't move from the spot as I try to calm my racing heart, still in a daze from the kiss. "What are you still doing here?" I hear Alexander say and Nina's voice comes next. "Did you just—" "Yes, I just kissed her. Do you want more?" She scoffs. "They say the innocent-looking are always the bad ones. How does it feel to fool everyone with that—" "Leave. " Alex growls out, halting the rest of her words and there's silence in the room before Nina chuckles. "Your boyfriend will definitely hear of this, chick. " At the mention of that, my head snaps to Nina and she has a small smirk on her face before Alexander gra
ARABELLA. "Peter, please. Don't do this. " I plead as his leg rubs between my thighs, his mouth moving over my cleavage, and he's getting closer to my chest when the sound of a beep goes off. Peter pushes back his head, his eyes shifting to the phone I have in my front pocket, and the second he releases his grip and grabs the phone, removing his leg between my thighs; I knee his stomach, and rush to the door. The sound of his groan is the last thing I hear before I run out of the room, not caring that my phone is with him. Tears stream down my cheeks as I keep running with my palm pressed to my mouth, and my sobs breaking through. I gasp and my heart takes a jump when I bump into a body. "Arabella! There you are. I've been looking for—" Dex stops mid-sentence when I raise my head and I watch a muscle tick in his jaw as he grinds out his words, "What did he do?" "Nothing. " I sniff, wiping my tears and he shakes his head. "He did something. Tell me what the fuck he did, Ara and
ARABELLA. Peter is standing in front of me, and my mouth hangs at his black eye and other obvious bruises. He looks like he got into a big fight, and lost in every single way. "Peter?" I call and he removes his hands from my shoulders, taking a step back to leave a tiny distance between us. "What the hell happened to you?" He opens his mouth, "That doesn't matter right now. I'm so glad I found you alone. " "What–" "I'm so sorry, Ara. " He interrupts me before I can speak any further, guilt covering his expression and I take a swallow at his words reference "I don't know how many times I have to say that, I don't care how many times I'd have to, but I'm so fucking sorry. I had no idea what I was doing when I said those words to you. " "Oh, didn't you now?" I let out a sad chuckle and he shakes his head, "I don't know what came over me. You have to forgive me. Please. I'm sorry. " "You called me a whore. " I point out and he nods, lowering his gaze, "I'm sorry. " "Because of so
ARABELLA. I look into his eyes and his gaze is soft as he rests it on me. Alexander proceeds to surprise me by saying, "I'm sorry. " My eyes widen and I watch the bob in his throat shift a bit as he keeps his eyes locked on mine. "What? Why?" I ask and he says, "I thought that'd be the right thing to say. You're in this because of what I did, aren't you?" "No. " I respond to him and when he narrows his eyes, I say, "Maybe a bit, but the fault doesn't entirely rest on you. " "You have eyes all over you because I kissed you. I think the fault pretty much rests on me. " He argues, moving his hand and I shake my head. "It doesn't. People here will find things to talk about, so that isn't a surprise. It's just a matter of time before they find someone else to pick on and I become history. " "What?" I smile when he hums and he says, "Nothing. You just reminded me of something. " "Oh. " I mouth and he nods. "I'm not taking it back, though. " "Taking what back?" "My sorry. " He cl
ARABELLA. "Look who I found. It's the innocent one. " I look into the mirror at the mocking voice to meet Nina's eyes and a smirk rests on her face as she stands behind me with her arms crossed to her chest. I don't say a word as I fix my school shirt and turn to walk out of the restroom, only for her to grab my arm and twist me back to her view. She glares at me. "I'm speaking to you. Did you just try to ignore me?" "Get your hands off me. " I tell her calmly, but that only seems to infuriate her the more. "Still trying to act like the good one?" "What do you want from me, Nina?" I sigh and she seems to be surprised at my words, but manages to catch onto herself quick, masking her expression with a hateful one. "What I want from you is to stay away from Alexander. " A chuckle leaves my lips at those words, remembering the occurrence from last evening. I take a glance down her body then meet her eyes again, "And if I don't want to?" She smirks now, pushing her face closer to
ARABELLA. "Hey. " I stop glaring at my locker at the voice and turn my head to see Sabrina staring at me with excited eyes. "Hey, Sab. Do you need something?" I ask and she turns her head sideways. "No. Actually, I want to ask something from you. Do you mind coming to my party? I'm throwing one tonight. "I gaze at the outstretched pink card. "And you made cards for that?"She frowns. "Why? Is it bad? I thought it'd create better awareness. "I chuckle at her cuteness and take the card from her. "No, it isn't bad. Just the first time I'd see anyone make these for a party, but you're unique, aren't you?"She beams as I take a glance at the card. It has her name and her face on the front with nothing at the back. "I'll try to make it. ""You must. " She warns, pointing her forefinger at me and I nod. "Sounds like I just might with that face. ""Excited! Thank you, girl. I'll see you tonight?" She lifts a brow and I nod. Then she squeals once more before she walks away. I shake my head
Hellooo Loves, it’s been a long time, hasn’t it? I apologize for the late update but thank you so much for being patient with me.We’ve now come to the end of Arabella’s and Alexander’s story but as seen, Dex’s and Veronica’s isn’t over yet. There’ll be a short book attached to this one for Dex’s and Veronica’s story. Then after their story is done, we’ll have bonus chapters on Alex and Ara, where we’ll get to know about their lives after high school. This will not be now, though because I’ll be completing my other book—My Stepbrother—in June along with writing my new book.In case some people don’t know yet, I have a new book on the app. It’s titled My Best Friend’s Girl and you can check it out if you’re interested. The characters are new to me, and I’m sure many of you would enjoy the journey as much as I’m enjoying writing it.Anyway, I’ll be writing My Best Friend’s Girl and completing My Stepbrother in June so bonus chapters with DexVeronica’s short book won’t be happening then.
GRADUATION DAY.~TWO MONTHS LATER~ARABELLA."Is Alex not coming?" Ashley asks me again after Sinclair leaves to attend an urgent business, and I frown as I take my phone out of my purse. The last texts I’ve sent him stare back at me with no response and I chew my cheek. "I don’t know. He isn’t responding.""Are you sure he’s okay?" He should be. We spoke last night before I went to bed and I saw his bike in front of his house this morning, but I’ve heard nothing from him. Could he be bummed that he isn’t graduating with me? But that was his choice. After Alexander returned from Florida, he told me he had a change of mind. The small life he wanted to live once was no longer his dream and after seeing his mother struggle and fight for her life, he now wants to be a doctor. He studied hard for the little time he had left till we took the exams. Maybe even more than me. He had no time to be with me and I understood. I’m happy he has a dream he’s pursuing and when the results came out, he
ARABELLA.We walk back into the house with our intertwined fingers and I pass Alexander a smile when Dex sees him calling out his name from the sofa."That’s you?" Dex stands from the couch and strides toward us. His hands are in his pockets and his gaze is on Alex, who pushes out his other hand, refusing to let me go. "Hey, dude."Dex looks at the outstretched hand, and his face hardens. "Are you back now after almost breaking my best friend’s heart?" He throws the question at Alex, who looks down at me before tightening his hand against mine. When he looks away, I try to meet Dex’s eyes, but he’s too busy glaring at Alex. The tension in the air rises as Alex’s hand stays in the air while Dex looks like he’s just two seconds away from punching him."You should know I’d never intentionally do that. They were stuff back at my home that needed to be taken care of and there was no avoid—"Dex’s face suddenly breaks in a smile and before Alex can finish, he slaps a hand on his shoulder. "
ALEXANDER. I continue to pace down the hallway, my heart drumming in my chest with each second that ticks by, and no one coming out of that room. My gaze turns on Kaleb, who’s nervously tapping his feet against the floor and fidgeting in his seat, his eyes occasionally shifting from his moving hands to the door next to him. "She’ll be fine," I tell him as I slap a hand on his thigh to keep it steady before I fall into the seat next to him. He shakes his head as he turns to me. "It’s been hours and there’s been nothing. Just people moving in and out of there, and refusing to tell us anything." "That’s kind of how the surgery works." I let out a chuckle, trying to suppress the fact that I’m just as afraid as he is. Afraid the news that comes out of there wouldn’t be the one we want. "Seriously, Kaleb; she’ll be fine. Remember what she told us: we can’t get scared no matter what happens." "I’m trying." He hisses as he bends over his back and drops his clamped hands to his legs. I rem
ARABELLA. I gaze at Alex between my legs and my head falls back on the arm of the couch with a loud moan as I feel his tongue laps at my core. "Alex…" I call out his name as I pull at the end of his curls and he hums with his lips pressed to my pussy, the vibration sending shocks through my body and I drip even more on his tongue. "Oh God," my other hand moves to my chest, and I squeeze my breast through the fabric of my dress as my eyes screw shut, my toes curling around his neck. "Oh, don’t you dare do that." I snap my eyes open when Alexander suddenly yanks my hand off my chest and also because he removes his head from my pussy, ripping away my fast-coming pleasure and I frown when I meet his eyes. He only grins down at me, as if he enjoys having me this way—frustrated and desperate for release. "Alex…" "Shh, baby." He whispers as he comes down over me, his hands slipping to my sides and I’m sure he can hear how fast my heart is beating in my chest at this close distance. "I tol
ALEXANDER. I walk into the house with my shoulders sank and Arabella is standing in the middle of the living room. She smiles when she sees me and immediately starts moving in my direction. I stretch my hands and pull her into my chest once she’s close enough, and she wraps her arms around my neck, pressing herself against me. "Hm." I moan into her neck as my hands lock around her waist and grip tight. "Are you okay?" Arabella asks against my chest and I pull back to look at her pretty face but keep my hands around her waist. She doesn’t remove hers from my neck either, and I drop my forehead on hers. "I’m so fucking sorry, baby," I whisper, and she moves one hand to my hair, threading it through my curls while the other stays on the back of my neck. "What are you sorry for? You’ve done nothing wrong." She says in a soft voice, and I push back my head to look into her eyes. I keep my eyes on her as I drop my hands to her ass and bend my legs back slightly. I lift her in my arms and
ALEXANDER. ME: I’m on my way. I don’t get another reply and I sigh as I throw my phone back into my pocket before I turn to Mom, whose head is lifted to me. Her brows are arched when she asks, "Is everything alright?" "Just the company. Really weird stuff, and I’m not sure how they’re happening." I inform her in a tired voice, and she drops the frame in her hand to her side. "Weird stuff happens all the time with business." She chuckles and I stare at her even when I know her eyes are on me. She doesn’t question it and I stare some more before I crouch before her and grab her hands. If she’s surprised by my sudden display of affection, she definitely doesn’t show it and only gives me a questioning look as we lock gazes. "Will you be… like you know… mad? If I fail? If I’m unable to save the company?" I ask and she takes a while to answer. When she does, her voice is gentle and laced with assurance. "If that’s what you’re afraid of, then you need not be. I told you before: it’s up to
ALEXANDER. My eyes widen. "Amanda?" I croak as I keep my eyes on Zack, who looks like he just got denied the biggest and most important goal of his life. "But how… How did she? How did that happen? We have more than 60% of the shares and she only got the…" "No, Alex." Zack interrupts and pushes himself off the wall he’s leaned against. He swipes a hand down his face before he crosses his hands over his chest. "She wasn’t the one. The buyer isn’t Amanda." I wiggle my brows. "I don’t understand. Are you saying…" I pause and I don’t complete the words before Zack nods, confirming the thought that comes to mind. "There’s a new buyer?" "Yeah." "Who? And how exactly did they manage to buy the company without having shares?" He sighs. "I don’t know who it is and I don’t know how they did this, but they must be really good." He lets out a dry chuckle. "Exceptionally good, because I never thought this was possible. I didn’t know…" "We have to find out who it is." "We’re in the dark. W
ALEXANDER."Hi." Sofia smiles as she adjusts her bag on her shoulder. Her brows furrow as her eyes drag down my body before she holds my gaze again. "I didn’t know you were back in Florida. What are you doing here?""Just stuff," I mutter as my eyes go to her stomach. Sofia must have noticed me staring because she drops a hand on it and I raise my gaze. "What are you doing here?""I came to meet my mom." She provides and when I stare at her, confused, she continues. "I didn’t exactly take the advice you gave.""Oh?""But I didn’t go through with the terrible plan I had either." She chuckles and I smile as I take in the happiness that radiates on her face. She looks sunny. Different from the last time I saw her, and her eyes are twinkling. "I spoke to Mom about it and it took a while, but she understood. Dad, however, didn’t. I had to leave home for a while, but I think everything should be back to normal soon.""I’m happy for you, Sofia," I tell her and she beams. "Thank you. I am. Ve
