ARABELLA.
"Thank you. " I mutter to him as I stride inside while he closes the door. I wait for him to move before I follow him, and he stops in the middle of the living room. Without much thought, I allow my eyes to run across the room. It looks almost the same as mine, except this is dressed in white instead of the usual classic blue.
"Stay here for a minute. " I hear Alexander say, bringing my attention back to him and I nod. He gives me one more glance before he turns away, and I don't fail to let my eyes follow him, shamelessly admiring the bare view of his back. After he disappears through the corner, I look down at myself and wipe my hand down my shirt.
"Here you have it. " Alexander appears again, and when I turn my head to him, he's dressed in black sweatpants that hang quite low on his hips and looks too good than I'd love to notice, bare-chested with his hair falling over his head in curls and holding out a shirt to me.
"Oh, you don't have to—"
"You're wet. " He says and my mouth drops. "Uh?"
"Wet. You're soaked. " He notes again and when I don't say a word, he nods his head to my body. I look down at my indeed soaked form and say, "Oh, right. Soaked. Wet. I am. "
He gives me a strange look and I let out an awkward chuckle.
"So you need a change. " He states the obvious, and I look between him and the shirt he's holding out before I take it from him, "Thank you. "
He nods and walks past me to the couch, grabbing the remote by his side as he turns on the TV while I stand in front of him, waiting for him to turn to me. When he does, gazing down at me in silent questioning, I say, "I need a place to change. "
"Why can't you do that here?" He says and I stare at him dumbly. "Here?"
"Yes, here. Is anything wrong?"
"Of course. You're sitting right there. How can I change in front of you?"
His expression changes. I don't see a smile on his face, but the coldness in his eyes softens, and it's almost as if he's smiling? But through his eyes?
"And why do you have a problem with changing in front of me? What are you trying to hide, Arabella?" With brows raised, one hand holding the TV remote, the other lifted to the edge of the couch and the tone at which he calls my name, the sound rolling off his tongue in an elegant way; I must be crazy because I find that extremely hot and I can feel warmth spreading to my cheeks.
"Everything. " I answer with a clear of my throat, and that expression deepens. "You can't go into my room, but I can go as far as closing my eyes. "
"Closing your eyes and turning away. " I propose, and he glares down at my body, not bothering to hide the way he lets his eyes take every inch in and I suddenly feel naked under his intense eyes. I raise the shirt to my chest, and Alexander meets my eyes again, "The eyes only. "
"You have to turn back. " I state firmly, and he says, "Fine. I'll turn back. Satisfied?"
"You won't take a peek. " I tell him and he tilts his head, "Okay. "
I nod and wait for him to turn back before I start with my bag, then remove my shoes and my socks. My focus switches between Alexander and the clothes I have in hand. He's playing with the remote as I remove my shirt, wiping my chest with it before I throw his over my head. It swallows my body, covering half of my skirt and I proceed to yank the clothing down my legs, leaving it with my shirt.
I leave them inside my bag and zip it close again before I straighten my back. "I'm done. " I announce and he turns back.
He looks me down, his eyes staying on my bare thighs longer than the other parts and I pull at the hem of the shirt, "More comfortable than I thought. "
He doesn't say a word, and after a minute of standing awkwardly on the spot, I move to the couch and make sure to leave a reasonable distance between us.
"Do you live here alone?" I break the silence after staring at the screen for too long and when he doesn't respond, I turn my head to him. He opens his mouth. "Yes. "
"Why? What about your family?" I ask and he locks his eyes with mine. "Is this your version of I won't disturb you?"
"Sorry. " I mouth and he looks away. In two seconds, he speaks again, "They don't stay here. They're back in New York. "
"Oh?" I mumble and Alexander surprises me by saying, "Ask. "
"Uh?"
"I can tell you want to ask more questions. Go on. " He says and I grin. Turning my body to his side, I part my lips, "Why are they there, and you're here?"
He takes a while before he answers. "I did something terrible and I was sent here as punishment. "
"What did you do?" I ask him and he looks back at me. His eyes go lower, before they meet mine again. "You truly want to know?"
When I nod, he edges closer and says, "Truly? You want to know?"
I lick my lips, my eyes moving to a place they shouldn't and I can't help, but swallow at the sight of his round, full lips with a natural slight pout.
"I do. " I whisper, not removing my eyes from his mouth with no idea of what my words refer to any longer.
Alex is silent, but I can feel him edging closer and my fingers are digging into the flesh of my crossed legs as I remain still. Not moving back or forward.
"You want it, Arabella?" When Alexander speaks again, the tone is different. It sends an exciting chill across my body; one that shouldn't be there and as I lift my gaze to his eyes, I can't decide if he's making those words from the previous topic or something else.
But I find myself saying, "I do. I want it. " His eyes don't leave mine and his hand is lowered over the couch as he brings his face closer and for some reason, my heart bangs in anticipation.
The distance between our bodies is almost eliminated when the beep of a phone interrupts and he falls back to his side while I turn to grab my phone with heated cheeks and it's a text from Ashley.
MY ANGEL: We're home. You should head back now.
"They're back. " I let out as I start to move out of the couch. "My family. They're back. I should start leaving. "
He watches as I grab my stuff and slide my feet into my shoes before he raises to his feet and, walks me to the door. I hold out a hand to see the rain stopped, and I never noticed.
I push a strand of my hair behind my ear and smile at him. "Thank you. For letting me stay, and for the shirt. I'll make sure to return it. "
He nods and slips his hands inside his pocket. "Night, Arabella. "
"You too. " I whisper, the smile not leaving my face as Alexander shuts the door, his face disappearing.
I bite down on my lips and drop my head, staying quiet to hear the sound of my name coming from him again before I start to move.
The gate is opened when I arrive at the front and I stroll inside, making sure I shut it before I walk inside the house, and Sinclair is on the couch with Ashley coming down the stairs.
"That was fast. I thought it'd take you longer. " Ashley speaks as she takes the last stair and I say, "I was right next to here. "
She lifts her brows. "Next to here? Alexander?"
My eyes widen at the mention of his name. "You know his name?"
"You were with Alexander?" Sinclair interrupts before Ashley can speak and I turn to my brother with a small smile, "Dex wasn't picking up and it was pouring. He was my only option. " I explain as I walk to him, and hug his neck.
He rubs my hand and says, "That was all that happened?"
"Please, Sinclair. I have a boyfriend. " I swallow down the sudden lump in my throat and Sinclair laughs. "How do you know him, though?" I ask him and he turns his head to me. He looks behind me, and reaches out his hand, and I watch as Ashley takes his hand and walks to his front, settling on the lap.
"I know his mother, sort of. " He answers my question and I say, "Really? So you know about him?"
"I know his mother, Arabella. Not him. Neither do I know his story if that's what you're trying to ask. But his mother did say to watch out for him. "
"You don't look like you're doing exactly that. " I tell him and he chuckles, the sound muffled by Ashley's hair as he presses his nose to it. When he pulls back, rubbing his hands down her arms, he says, "He's a grown-up. I'm pretty sure he can handle himself. "
"Was he good?" Ashley turns to ask me after Sinclair's words, her eyes running down my body. "That's his shirt?"
I drop my head in shyness and mumble. "Yes. Mine was wet so he lent this to me. "
"Sounds like he's nice. "
"Sounds like he's trying to get into your pants. "
They both say at the same time and Ashley is first to speak, "Sinclair! Don't say that. I'm sure he's just being nice. "
"We'll see how that turns out. " My brother says and I roll my eyes, looking around the room for a certain chubby kid. When I don't see Winnie, I look back at Ashley and she answers my question before I ever ask. "Sleeping. "
"She's always sleeping. " I smile. "How was the dinner party?"
"It was fun. Nice to bond with friends once again. "
"Was Uncle Vincent there? It's been a while since I last saw him. " I sigh and she smiles, "He said the same thing about you, and yes, he was there. I think you'll see him pretty soon. They're planning something. "
"What's it?"
"I'll leave it there, Arabella. " She winks and I hum with a smile. "I'll be in my room. "
"Alright, sweetheart. " And I turn away from them to walk up the stairs. I walk down the hallway and stop near Winnie's room to check on her before I leave to mine.
Throwing my bag on one side of the room, I look down at the shirt on me before I pull it over my head. I spread it across my bed, and take a few steps back to gaze at it. My face stretches into a smile and I grab it again, falling back on the bed as I press it to my nose, inhaling the mix of my scent and his. And it's like orange blossom rolled in musk— clean and fresh. It's an addicting scent and I take a breath at the smell of it as I close my eyes to take another.
"Arabella. " His call of my name echoes in my mind and his falls off my mouth with little to no deliberation. "Alexander. "
I'm brought back to that moment on the couch, and the images in my head only make my heart pound faster in my chest.
What would have happened if Ashley's text didn't come in? Would he have— I shake my head, not allowing myself to think further on that impossible possibility.
Only when I quiet down, the echoes of my heart beating loud in my ears do I realize what I'm doing — clutching a shirt that smells of him to my chest while thinking about him.
I'm quick to sit up on the bed and leave the shirt by my side, rubbing a hand over my thumping heart.
"What the hell are you doing, Arabella?"
I look at the shirt again, shake my head and move out of bed
~
"Hey. " I turn around to face Peter, and he hovers over me, sandwiching me between the locker and his large body with one hand pressed to the side of my head.
I look at his hand before I raise my gaze to him again and he throws me a small smile, "Arabella. "
When I hum, he continues, "I was worried about you. "
"Why were you?"
"You weren't talking to me. " He says with sadness evident in his tone, and when I don't give him a response, he proceeds to say, "I know you're mad at me for what happened, but will you forgive me?" His hand moves closer and grazes just slightly over my cheeks. "Hmm? Don't you think I've been punished enough?"
He mutters a curse when the sound of the bell goes off, and looks up to the spot before he meets my eyes, "Arabe—"
"I have to get to class. "
Peter shakes his head. "Not without an answer. "
"Peter. "
"Ara. " He drawls my name in the same tone, a mischievous look on his face and I roll my eyes. "Fine. We're good. Are you satisfied?"
He turns his head sideways. "I'm not. That doesn't sound sincere. "
"Peter, please—" I groan and he says, "Make it sincere, Arabella. Or you won't leave. "
Looking around us to see the hallway is almost empty, I move on my toes and press my lips to his. It's meant to be a short kiss, but Peter has something else in mind when he slips his hand to my head and presses harder against my lips, slipping his tongue through the space and tangling it with mine.
A tiny sound leaves my throat when his other hand falls to my side, bringing me closer to his chest and the book I have in hand is the only barrier between our bodies as Peter kisses me slow and hard. The very first time he's letting it get this far.
A whimper leaves my mouth when he finally pulls away and his smile remains on his face as he reaches out a finger to rub across my lower lip.
"There you have it. " He speaks with a hint of proudness in his voice. "I'll catch you at lunch, yeah?"
"Yeah. " I respond and he winks, smoothing a hand down my hair before he turns to walk away. I watch as his frame disappears, a heavy sigh leaving my mouth before I turn in the other direction, flinching at the sight of Alexander standing only a few steps away from me.
"Oh, hey—" he doesn't let me finish my words before he starts to move, and I furrow my brows as he walks past me without a word.
I turn on my heels and watch his disappearing frame. When I turn away, I feel that all too familiar pang in my chest.
And I do not like it.

ARABELLA. "Ara. " I hear Dex whisper behind me, but I don't turn to him, and when he calls my name again; I raise my shoulder slightly and tighten my grip on the brush, focusing on the faint yellow lines across the board. "Arabella!" He calls in a tiny yell this time and I groan, turning to meet his eyes. "What?" I snap and he pushes his head back, looking a bit taken aback. "Damn. Why are so pissed?" He asks and I sigh, "You know how I am when it comes to art class. You aren't exactly helping me focus. " A half-truth, and a half-lie. For the other half, I'd rather keep to myself, and ignore the fact that it truly bothers me. "Are you sure that's all this is about?" Dex asks and I throw him a small smile. "Of course it is. I'm sorry for snapping at you. What do you want?""Nothing. " He replies nonchalantly before a grin takes over his face as he grabs his phone. "I just want to show you this picture. "Before Dex turns his screen to me, I know what awaits me and the surprise does
ARABELLA. My hands slowly move to his waist, and I find myself kissing him back, trying to follow his guide as he slowly tilts my head and a shameful sound of pleasure leaves the back of my throat as his tongue lowers mine. All too soon, his lips leave mine and he looks into my eyes for some seconds before he leans back, his touch disappearing along with his space, and I don't move from the spot as I try to calm my racing heart, still in a daze from the kiss. "What are you still doing here?" I hear Alexander say and Nina's voice comes next. "Did you just—" "Yes, I just kissed her. Do you want more?" She scoffs. "They say the innocent-looking are always the bad ones. How does it feel to fool everyone with that—" "Leave. " Alex growls out, halting the rest of her words and there's silence in the room before Nina chuckles. "Your boyfriend will definitely hear of this, chick. " At the mention of that, my head snaps to Nina and she has a small smirk on her face before Alexander gra
ARABELLA. "Peter, please. Don't do this. " I plead as his leg rubs between my thighs, his mouth moving over my cleavage, and he's getting closer to my chest when the sound of a beep goes off. Peter pushes back his head, his eyes shifting to the phone I have in my front pocket, and the second he releases his grip and grabs the phone, removing his leg between my thighs; I knee his stomach, and rush to the door. The sound of his groan is the last thing I hear before I run out of the room, not caring that my phone is with him. Tears stream down my cheeks as I keep running with my palm pressed to my mouth, and my sobs breaking through. I gasp and my heart takes a jump when I bump into a body. "Arabella! There you are. I've been looking for—" Dex stops mid-sentence when I raise my head and I watch a muscle tick in his jaw as he grinds out his words, "What did he do?" "Nothing. " I sniff, wiping my tears and he shakes his head. "He did something. Tell me what the fuck he did, Ara and
ARABELLA. Peter is standing in front of me, and my mouth hangs at his black eye and other obvious bruises. He looks like he got into a big fight, and lost in every single way. "Peter?" I call and he removes his hands from my shoulders, taking a step back to leave a tiny distance between us. "What the hell happened to you?" He opens his mouth, "That doesn't matter right now. I'm so glad I found you alone. " "What–" "I'm so sorry, Ara. " He interrupts me before I can speak any further, guilt covering his expression and I take a swallow at his words reference "I don't know how many times I have to say that, I don't care how many times I'd have to, but I'm so fucking sorry. I had no idea what I was doing when I said those words to you. " "Oh, didn't you now?" I let out a sad chuckle and he shakes his head, "I don't know what came over me. You have to forgive me. Please. I'm sorry. " "You called me a whore. " I point out and he nods, lowering his gaze, "I'm sorry. " "Because of so
ARABELLA. I look into his eyes and his gaze is soft as he rests it on me. Alexander proceeds to surprise me by saying, "I'm sorry. " My eyes widen and I watch the bob in his throat shift a bit as he keeps his eyes locked on mine. "What? Why?" I ask and he says, "I thought that'd be the right thing to say. You're in this because of what I did, aren't you?" "No. " I respond to him and when he narrows his eyes, I say, "Maybe a bit, but the fault doesn't entirely rest on you. " "You have eyes all over you because I kissed you. I think the fault pretty much rests on me. " He argues, moving his hand and I shake my head. "It doesn't. People here will find things to talk about, so that isn't a surprise. It's just a matter of time before they find someone else to pick on and I become history. " "What?" I smile when he hums and he says, "Nothing. You just reminded me of something. " "Oh. " I mouth and he nods. "I'm not taking it back, though. " "Taking what back?" "My sorry. " He cl
ARABELLA. "Look who I found. It's the innocent one. " I look into the mirror at the mocking voice to meet Nina's eyes and a smirk rests on her face as she stands behind me with her arms crossed to her chest. I don't say a word as I fix my school shirt and turn to walk out of the restroom, only for her to grab my arm and twist me back to her view. She glares at me. "I'm speaking to you. Did you just try to ignore me?" "Get your hands off me. " I tell her calmly, but that only seems to infuriate her the more. "Still trying to act like the good one?" "What do you want from me, Nina?" I sigh and she seems to be surprised at my words, but manages to catch onto herself quick, masking her expression with a hateful one. "What I want from you is to stay away from Alexander. " A chuckle leaves my lips at those words, remembering the occurrence from last evening. I take a glance down her body then meet her eyes again, "And if I don't want to?" She smirks now, pushing her face closer to
ARABELLA. "Hey. " I stop glaring at my locker at the voice and turn my head to see Sabrina staring at me with excited eyes. "Hey, Sab. Do you need something?" I ask and she turns her head sideways. "No. Actually, I want to ask something from you. Do you mind coming to my party? I'm throwing one tonight. "I gaze at the outstretched pink card. "And you made cards for that?"She frowns. "Why? Is it bad? I thought it'd create better awareness. "I chuckle at her cuteness and take the card from her. "No, it isn't bad. Just the first time I'd see anyone make these for a party, but you're unique, aren't you?"She beams as I take a glance at the card. It has her name and her face on the front with nothing at the back. "I'll try to make it. ""You must. " She warns, pointing her forefinger at me and I nod. "Sounds like I just might with that face. ""Excited! Thank you, girl. I'll see you tonight?" She lifts a brow and I nod. Then she squeals once more before she walks away. I shake my head
ARABELLA. His other hand is moving to my waist, bringing my entire body to him and I grip the back of his head, pressing his face closer to my neck as sparks of pleasure fly through me. Alexander pulls back, his eyes roaming mine for a second and then his mouth is back on mine. He sinks his teeth into my bottom lip and I whimper, giving him access as he slides his tongue in, tangling against mine in a battle to give and take, in which he's doing an incredible job. I feel high and it feels like my head is in the clouds each time our lips drift apart then come together. His lips are hot and wet against mine, it has an exciting rush whisking through me, and something so wrong has never felt so right until this moment with this boy. "Oh, sorry. I didn't think– " He's quick to break away at the sound of the voice and his hand shifts to the back of my head, using it to press my face to his chest, shielding me from the gaze of whoever is at the door as he responds. "Do you need someth
Hellooo Loves, it’s been a long time, hasn’t it? I apologize for the late update but thank you so much for being patient with me.We’ve now come to the end of Arabella’s and Alexander’s story but as seen, Dex’s and Veronica’s isn’t over yet. There’ll be a short book attached to this one for Dex’s and Veronica’s story. Then after their story is done, we’ll have bonus chapters on Alex and Ara, where we’ll get to know about their lives after high school. This will not be now, though because I’ll be completing my other book—My Stepbrother—in June along with writing my new book.In case some people don’t know yet, I have a new book on the app. It’s titled My Best Friend’s Girl and you can check it out if you’re interested. The characters are new to me, and I’m sure many of you would enjoy the journey as much as I’m enjoying writing it.Anyway, I’ll be writing My Best Friend’s Girl and completing My Stepbrother in June so bonus chapters with DexVeronica’s short book won’t be happening then.
GRADUATION DAY.~TWO MONTHS LATER~ARABELLA."Is Alex not coming?" Ashley asks me again after Sinclair leaves to attend an urgent business, and I frown as I take my phone out of my purse. The last texts I’ve sent him stare back at me with no response and I chew my cheek. "I don’t know. He isn’t responding.""Are you sure he’s okay?" He should be. We spoke last night before I went to bed and I saw his bike in front of his house this morning, but I’ve heard nothing from him. Could he be bummed that he isn’t graduating with me? But that was his choice. After Alexander returned from Florida, he told me he had a change of mind. The small life he wanted to live once was no longer his dream and after seeing his mother struggle and fight for her life, he now wants to be a doctor. He studied hard for the little time he had left till we took the exams. Maybe even more than me. He had no time to be with me and I understood. I’m happy he has a dream he’s pursuing and when the results came out, he
ARABELLA.We walk back into the house with our intertwined fingers and I pass Alexander a smile when Dex sees him calling out his name from the sofa."That’s you?" Dex stands from the couch and strides toward us. His hands are in his pockets and his gaze is on Alex, who pushes out his other hand, refusing to let me go. "Hey, dude."Dex looks at the outstretched hand, and his face hardens. "Are you back now after almost breaking my best friend’s heart?" He throws the question at Alex, who looks down at me before tightening his hand against mine. When he looks away, I try to meet Dex’s eyes, but he’s too busy glaring at Alex. The tension in the air rises as Alex’s hand stays in the air while Dex looks like he’s just two seconds away from punching him."You should know I’d never intentionally do that. They were stuff back at my home that needed to be taken care of and there was no avoid—"Dex’s face suddenly breaks in a smile and before Alex can finish, he slaps a hand on his shoulder. "
ALEXANDER. I continue to pace down the hallway, my heart drumming in my chest with each second that ticks by, and no one coming out of that room. My gaze turns on Kaleb, who’s nervously tapping his feet against the floor and fidgeting in his seat, his eyes occasionally shifting from his moving hands to the door next to him. "She’ll be fine," I tell him as I slap a hand on his thigh to keep it steady before I fall into the seat next to him. He shakes his head as he turns to me. "It’s been hours and there’s been nothing. Just people moving in and out of there, and refusing to tell us anything." "That’s kind of how the surgery works." I let out a chuckle, trying to suppress the fact that I’m just as afraid as he is. Afraid the news that comes out of there wouldn’t be the one we want. "Seriously, Kaleb; she’ll be fine. Remember what she told us: we can’t get scared no matter what happens." "I’m trying." He hisses as he bends over his back and drops his clamped hands to his legs. I rem
ARABELLA. I gaze at Alex between my legs and my head falls back on the arm of the couch with a loud moan as I feel his tongue laps at my core. "Alex…" I call out his name as I pull at the end of his curls and he hums with his lips pressed to my pussy, the vibration sending shocks through my body and I drip even more on his tongue. "Oh God," my other hand moves to my chest, and I squeeze my breast through the fabric of my dress as my eyes screw shut, my toes curling around his neck. "Oh, don’t you dare do that." I snap my eyes open when Alexander suddenly yanks my hand off my chest and also because he removes his head from my pussy, ripping away my fast-coming pleasure and I frown when I meet his eyes. He only grins down at me, as if he enjoys having me this way—frustrated and desperate for release. "Alex…" "Shh, baby." He whispers as he comes down over me, his hands slipping to my sides and I’m sure he can hear how fast my heart is beating in my chest at this close distance. "I tol
ALEXANDER. I walk into the house with my shoulders sank and Arabella is standing in the middle of the living room. She smiles when she sees me and immediately starts moving in my direction. I stretch my hands and pull her into my chest once she’s close enough, and she wraps her arms around my neck, pressing herself against me. "Hm." I moan into her neck as my hands lock around her waist and grip tight. "Are you okay?" Arabella asks against my chest and I pull back to look at her pretty face but keep my hands around her waist. She doesn’t remove hers from my neck either, and I drop my forehead on hers. "I’m so fucking sorry, baby," I whisper, and she moves one hand to my hair, threading it through my curls while the other stays on the back of my neck. "What are you sorry for? You’ve done nothing wrong." She says in a soft voice, and I push back my head to look into her eyes. I keep my eyes on her as I drop my hands to her ass and bend my legs back slightly. I lift her in my arms and
ALEXANDER. ME: I’m on my way. I don’t get another reply and I sigh as I throw my phone back into my pocket before I turn to Mom, whose head is lifted to me. Her brows are arched when she asks, "Is everything alright?" "Just the company. Really weird stuff, and I’m not sure how they’re happening." I inform her in a tired voice, and she drops the frame in her hand to her side. "Weird stuff happens all the time with business." She chuckles and I stare at her even when I know her eyes are on me. She doesn’t question it and I stare some more before I crouch before her and grab her hands. If she’s surprised by my sudden display of affection, she definitely doesn’t show it and only gives me a questioning look as we lock gazes. "Will you be… like you know… mad? If I fail? If I’m unable to save the company?" I ask and she takes a while to answer. When she does, her voice is gentle and laced with assurance. "If that’s what you’re afraid of, then you need not be. I told you before: it’s up to
ALEXANDER. My eyes widen. "Amanda?" I croak as I keep my eyes on Zack, who looks like he just got denied the biggest and most important goal of his life. "But how… How did she? How did that happen? We have more than 60% of the shares and she only got the…" "No, Alex." Zack interrupts and pushes himself off the wall he’s leaned against. He swipes a hand down his face before he crosses his hands over his chest. "She wasn’t the one. The buyer isn’t Amanda." I wiggle my brows. "I don’t understand. Are you saying…" I pause and I don’t complete the words before Zack nods, confirming the thought that comes to mind. "There’s a new buyer?" "Yeah." "Who? And how exactly did they manage to buy the company without having shares?" He sighs. "I don’t know who it is and I don’t know how they did this, but they must be really good." He lets out a dry chuckle. "Exceptionally good, because I never thought this was possible. I didn’t know…" "We have to find out who it is." "We’re in the dark. W
ALEXANDER."Hi." Sofia smiles as she adjusts her bag on her shoulder. Her brows furrow as her eyes drag down my body before she holds my gaze again. "I didn’t know you were back in Florida. What are you doing here?""Just stuff," I mutter as my eyes go to her stomach. Sofia must have noticed me staring because she drops a hand on it and I raise my gaze. "What are you doing here?""I came to meet my mom." She provides and when I stare at her, confused, she continues. "I didn’t exactly take the advice you gave.""Oh?""But I didn’t go through with the terrible plan I had either." She chuckles and I smile as I take in the happiness that radiates on her face. She looks sunny. Different from the last time I saw her, and her eyes are twinkling. "I spoke to Mom about it and it took a while, but she understood. Dad, however, didn’t.
