Thick red liquid trickles down my forehead as a groan of pain leaves my lips.
“Ahh, doesn't she look so beautiful?” Annie, my sister, sings out. Her voice filled with clear mockery. I squeeze my eyes tight shut, expecting the next hit. “Aw, does she want her mommy?” She taunts, causing her two minions to laugh. “Please, Annie, just stop.” I pleaded, my voice weak as I tried to gain some strength. My back feels heavy against the cold tiles of the restroom floors. My eyes fall droopily against my top cheek as my body aches in different places. “Why are you doing this?” I wheeze out, tears stinging my eyes, but I refuse to let them drop. Letting her see me cry only adds to her joy. She slowly goes down, reaching my level before wrapping her dainty fingers around my hair in a tight hold. My vision blurs, but I can still make out her honey-coloured hair paired with those lifeless dark black orbs. Annie Christian has the body of a goddess, slender, curved hips, average height, with lipstick that I am sure is a part of her already. “It's simple. I hate you,” she whispers, then strikes me in the face. My head rears back with the hit, biting my lips. I push back the groan of pain threatening to leave my lips. “Girls grab her.” She orders her minions. Sandra steps forward, grabbing my arms as Sophia joins her in pulling me up. Sophia and Sandra West, twins from a rich home with rotten attitudes, and worse simping, are two of their many useless traits. This time around I don't fight or struggle, as it will lead to only more pain. Annie pushes one of the stalls open, then steps aside for her minions to do the dirty work. Sophia shoves my head into the toilet sink. My breath hangs in my throat as I go under, wiggling in their arms for some air; finally, I am pulled back up and tossed to the side. My head hits the cold floor, making me see stars. Headache rises as my head pounds seriously. All I want to do is scream; I want to pull Annie by her disgusting hair and give her a taste of her own medicine. Yet I can't. Because if I do that, our brother will give me hell to pay when I get home. It will be so much worse, so I just swallow and take the pain. The door to the restroom burst open as two figures rushed in. “Oh my goodness, what happened?” My friend’s voice is distant as my eyes flutter close. “Reena, open your eyes now.” I hear a deep, commanding voice. The voice is so strong I open my eyes immediately. Rafael and Rose are besides me, trying to help me up. I follow their moment and raise my body, allowing them to take me to the nurse. “You need to report this, Reena; it's getting too much.” Rafael growls, his chest rumbling as he walks. Rafael and Rose have been my friends for so long. We met in fifth grade and have been pretty much inseparable since then. I had no choice but to take whatever treatment she gives. I let them treat me like a slave. But, No matter what they do, I won't fall down. I won't let them break me. **** The night air whistled as I breezed past in the street; the air on my body rose as goosebumps spread across my skin. I walk fast, my head snapping to every little sound that I hear. I really don't know what I did to be cursed into a family that wants nothing but my death. Having my sister hate me is something I have always been used to. People always speak of how their family always comes through for them. But not me; my family never does that for me. My family hates me with so much passion, and I am just wowed. Reena Christian, born into a very wealthy home, yet I am treated like a slave. My parents are one of the richest billionaires in the whole of New York. No one knows I am my parents child, as I am always cast aside. It's painful, but at the same time it's training. But the fact that they hurt me so much. I really don't know what I did to make them hate me so much that even my presence repulses them. A sharp pain slices through my body as I try to keep it together. It's precisely after eleven, yet they think it's still ok to walk about at such an ungodly hour. The streets are still busy, but the roads, like the one I am currently taking, are not so busy. People linger around only in bits and pieces, but I can still feel something weird looming around my head. A nudge that something is about to happen. “Hey there, pretty lady!” A dark, thrilling voice calls out to me, causing me to snap my head so fast it almost falls over. Three men stand at the end of an alley with thick smoke coming out of their lips. Without thinking, I dash into a quick run. Heading straight for the busy road, I don't know what on earth possessed me to take such a road today. Because I am on so much speed, I can't tell if they are still after me or if they stopped chasing, but I don't stop. Curse my family. I curse them with so much pain and tears. Taking a sharp turn, a bright light pierces into my eyes as an incoming vehicle veers towards me with great speed. What the hell? I dive for the other side of the road; the car speed increases, barely brushing past me before heading straight into a nearby pole. The car crashes as fire consumes the entire front immediately, causing a scream to tear out of my lips. “OH MY GOODNESS!!!”My eyes water as the fire spreads; I gasp and puff, trying to focus my eyes on the chaos in front of me. The road is not so full of people, so there is no one really here to help, and the passerby just takes out their phone to video. A groan leaves my throat as I push my body up into a sitting position and then drag myself fully up. I stagger to the burning car; smoke emits, wafting through my nose down my throat. I crackle through a cough, my breath hangs as I palm my nose in an attempt to stop the smoke from going deeper into my lungs. The car is shut; the airbag bursted as the man behind the wheel slumps over it, hot crimson liquid dropping over his forehead. “Sir, sir, are you okay?” I cough out, banging the door. He raises his head slightly, turning around to face me before groaning. “I can’t feel my legs,” he croaks out before slumping back, losing consciousness again. I wiggle the handle, but it’s locked. The smoke coming from the front of the car increases, a
A hard smack lands on my back, dragging my attention back to my friends. “Ow, what the heck is wrong with you?” I exclaim, glaring hard at Rose for such a prosperous act. “You are zoning out like a zombie; bring your mind back to the present.” She snaps, eyeing me before hissing loudly. Oh, the guts of this girl. “I am not zoning out; I just decided not to participate in the conversation. Can't I be quiet in peace?” I lie through my teeth. I wasn't going to listen to any words that came out of either hers or Rafael’s mouth. I was thinking about a certain man. One who I don't even know his name. “Huh, if you were listening so keenly, tell us what we were talking about.” Rafael had to be the spawn of the devil sent to me this sunny day. I open my mouth to speak, then slam it shut back, knowing fully well that I wasn't paying attention. “Yeah right, close that trash you call a mouth.” Rose sneers, rolling her eyes at me as if I am impossible to deal with. Rafael simpl
What!!! What the heck are they talking about? Getting married? To whom? Why? When? “How can I get married when I haven't brought anyone to you guys yet?” I play pretend, refusing to believe any word they say. I know they hate me, but this is just so much. I mean, what did I ever do to deserve this? “Do you need to bring someone to us, huh?” Mum sneers, raking her eyes over my body like I am the dirt beneath her feet. “Like someone will ever willingly want anything to do with you.” Annie chips in, using her palms to cover her nose. I shift uncomfortably in my seat, wanting nothing more than the group to open up and swallow me. I don't smell; they are just trying to hurt me. I know this, yet my eyes still burn with tears. “I don't smell.” My voice makes everything worse as I sound so unsure of my words. “Yeah, right!” Shane snorts, rolling his lips between his fingers. Shane is the oldest and only chimes in when I am being mocked or abused, while Dwayne also stays
I can't bring myself to believe what Mum just said. My what!!!! “Mum, is he really here?” I ask, my lips wobbling as I stare, my eyes almost dropping tears. “What do you mean? Are you that excited to be in my son's life? So desperate that you are shedding tears of joy at the fact that he is here, huh?” A sharp voice pierces the ear. Her voice is so disgusting and cold. It sends chills down not only my spine, but my mother's too. That's a first. “Um... it's rather the opposite.” I grunt, my face scrunching up in sheer disgust. My face whips to the other side as the sound of a snack echoes through the air. She smacked me. Mrs. Stone actually smacked me on our first meeting. My palm flies to my cheeks as I rub it repeatedly because it actually hurt, but I was confused she did it in the first place. If I could get hit on the first day, then I would have signed with the devil's associate. “Such an insolent brat. Is this what you want to give to my child, huh?” She
“What!!” I gasps, tears flodding my cheeks. “Please, take everything away not school please.” I plead, clasping my palms together as tears rolls down my cheeks. If he takes that from me I can't graduate, and that means I would forever be useless, and worthless. He leaps over sinking his fingers into my hair, and tugs hard, “Shut your trap or you won't like what follows.” he barks, eyes burning as he glares at me. I yelp the tears refusing to stop as I nod my repeatedly, “Yes Rom–” the words barely left my before he pushes my head, causing me to bang my head on the glass mirror. “Ahhh!!” I cry out, my hand flies up to touch the wounded skin. Thick liquid trickles down my forehead, running down as it mixes with my tears. “Don't you ever use that disgusting lips of yours to call my name. I am master to you, nothing else, understand?” he growls, his chest heaving. “Yes master.” I whimper, pressing myself closer to the door in an attempt to stay far away from him.
Cold chills run through my bones as I force my eyelids open. My body shudders as cold air ripples through my system, filtering into my skin. My teeth clatter without thinking. I fold up my knees to protect myself from the unending cold. But, nothing seems to stop it. My eyes wander about, trying to find out where I am. The familiar black couch fills my vision alongside black headboard. The cold sipping into my bones feels hard so I jab my elbow at it. Wrong move. Pain sits through my elbow down my spine as my flesh makes contact with the hard tiles. Slowly I push myself up into a sitting position. I am dressed in a shirt that barely covers my thighs, the material is too thin to protect me from the cold as theAC is blasting at a full eighteen. What the hell happened? My head is pounding, the headache splitting through my skull. Vague memories flashed through my head. The argument, his nice brother, and me tumbling down the stairs. I fell down the stairs yet he kept
