Nathan is an engaged worldwide boxer, he is arrogant and aggressive but with a twisted secret causing his manager Sophie a lot of chaos every day, and one day she finds out about his secret but she definitely shouldn't have. Is the secret as dark as it sounds or is like it a blessing in disguise? "Goodnight Mr. Kim. You're gonna be fine, just give it a couple of days," I smiled as he kicked the slippers off and quickly hid under the covers. "Hm? How'd you know? You don't know about me," he teased, still a bit of slur in his voice as I shifted him a little to the side to sit beside him. I chuckled softly and shrugged. "Trust me, Mr. Kim, I might not know about you but I know about heartbreak. Someone will come along you know, to mend these pieces of your heart," he chuckled sadly and shook his head. "It's not my heart that I'm worried about Sophie." Typical but atypical.

~COMBATIVE~
He lost today.
He had been winning all the matches since last year but he lost his streak today. I wonder what happened for him to be that distracted in the middle of a fight. With my chest heaving up and down vigorously out of fear, I enclosed my fingers around the handle of the waiting room and pushed it open with closed eyes.
Big mistake, because there he was, in the same clothes from the fight, back visible to me. Even from the back of his head and shoulders, I could tell what was about to happen. His shoulders moved up and down due to how heavily he was breathing. I took small quiet steps till my knees touched the behind of the bench he was perched upon.
"Sir?", his head snapped towards me in less than a second, gorgeous silver hair wet at the ends with sweat sticking to his forehead and dragon-like eyes red with fury. His nose flared with every angry pant of his lips and puff of his chest. I kept my heart which was clenching with fear, at bay and circled the bench till I was standing right next to him.
His gaze never left mine as I extended a shaking hand towards him. He let his palm clammy with sweat rest in mine followed suit by the same action for the other palm. I gulped but smiled nonetheless, trying my best to not show him how scared I was as I sat down in front of him on my knees between his widely parted legs. I could sense that he was trying to fight the outburst that was bubbling up in his chest and chose not to question anything right now knowing how dangerous it could be.
"Would you like to have something sweet?", I looked up at him as I tucked my finger under the white wraps around his palm slowly pulling out the part that had been tucked underneath. He too knew I was only asking it so he wouldn't feel the burn of the cloth against his bleeding scratches. Understanding that he wasn't willing to answer, I unwrapped the cloth from both his palms and turned them over to look at the knuckles.
"Where is she?", his voice came out so vulnerable, so weak and so shaky that I would've mistaken him for an emotional man if I didn't know better. I clamped my lower lip between my teeth before puffing my cheeks out as I blew air out of them. He was getting impatient and honestly, it scared me a little too much.
"Teressa left before the fight," I could feel him tense up even without opening my eyes since his almost double my size palm was still in mine. With a firm heartbeat, I opened my eyes and found him staring upwards with a clenched jaw and I almost thought he was crying for a moment but he couldn't be crying, right? He was the toughest person I knew.
He took in a deep breath through his nostrils, the anger evident in his neck and eyes snatching his palm away from me starting to get up but I quickly latched my fingers through his left hand pulling him back down with all my strength. He gave me a questioning look and I silently pleaded for him to sit down. He knew I had reached my limit today and there was no way I'd be able to handle another one of his tantrums especially tonight so he let himself fall on the bench listening to me.
"I'm gonna be applying antiseptic, squeeze my hands if it gets too much," I warned pulling the box out from under his left leg and he nodded quietly. As tough and emotionless as he was, Nathan couldn't handle smaller problems like getting his thrashed wounds treated but who was I to complain, it was fun, you know, to watch the person I feared so much be so under my control even if it was for a minute.
"I saw your uppercut today. Impressive," I commented as I slowly let the cotton dab against the wounds while I help his hand as if about to kiss it like a prince. He didn't say anything, he never did when he was angry so I let it go and pressed the cotton against all his knuckles one by one. By the third one, I felt my hand being squeezed so I stopped and looked up at him.
"Hurts?", I asked him in a low whisper but he just squeezed my hand again so I ceased all movements and softly patted his forearm trying to calm him down. I whispered a string of 'there, there's before proceeding to repeat the process all over again in both his hands.
I got up from my knees and dusted my pants before taking a step closer and he leaned back on the bench after brushing his hair with his fingers, giving me enough access to his face and jaw. This one was an easy task, it didn't hurt as much in the face so I quickly finished treating him.
"C'mon, I'll take you home," I said keeping the kit away and grabbing his clothes for him to wear. He held both his injured arms up and I quickly bunched the material together pulling it over his head and then through both his arms. He slipped his feet into his flip-flops and stood up keeping completely mum about everything.
I picked up his bag and walked beside him to the car that was parked across the street for the three of us but unfortunately there were only two of us here. He glanced back at me over his shoulder and again walked back ahead, for a second I thought he wanted to say something but I guess not. With another sigh, I slid open the door for him to enter looking left and right for any tails.
"What are you doing here now?", I jumped up slightly my eyes darting back and forth between Teressa sitting in the middle of the seat and Nathan standing by my side with his fists clenched, veins protruding out of his forearms. There was no going back now. He was gonna cause a scene again and I was not ready for another one so soon.
I whined to myself silently and placed a hand on his tensed up back nudging him forward so he sits inside before he starts yelling or she does. He understands, immediately stuffing himself on the seat opposite to her. I placed his bag next to Teressa and climbed in myself, perching down next to Nathan. She looked at me with a scowl and I gave her a blank look, the feeling of hatred between the two of us more than visible and mutual.
I had nothing against her till the day she pushed me down to the floor leading to a bruised knee and pride.
He ran a hand through his hair looking at her and then at me.
"Why are you here now? Was sleeping with my best friend not enough that you're back here?", His tone was louder than last time and she didn't hold back either.
"I told you it was a mistake, he was too drunk to function properly!", she yelled slapping her hands against the leather seats. Nathan growled lowly, face turning red with anger.
"He was drunk but you weren't and I trust him enough to know that he would never make a move on you!", I could tell by his voice that his throat was aching and he was struggling.
"Oh come on! I said it was a mistake! I've done so much for you till now, you can't possibly break our engagement because of this!" I flinched in my seat because of how loud and stupid she was. He took notice of my cringing face but didn't comment on it.
"Get out of the car, I'm not letting you ruin my life over and over again." After this sentence, I tapped the driver's shoulder and he pulled the car to the side in a second. She scoffed at my behavior and I smiled graciously before sliding the door open and gesturing for her to leave.
"I wasn't planning on staying anyway, we both know this was all for mom and dad!" Teressa screamed stumbling out of the car in her heels before snatching her purse from the seat. I quickly closed the door and hopped onto the seat in front of him.
"Fuck!", he cursed under his breath before slamming the side of his fist on the car door. It wasn't new or unexpected to me but the driver was still scared so he swerved the car slightly after jumping in his seat and I held back a snicker at that. Nathan held his head in both his hands constantly slapping the left side out of frustration making me sigh.
I slid forward in my seat till my knees were in between his spread-out legs and he was in my range of touch. As much as I knew him, he wouldn't act up with me being too close so I placed a hand on his knee and his eyes shot up to me quickly.
"You know, for such a small woman you sure can take a lot of fights without being scared," he commented when I slid the stress-relieving ball in his left palm while the right one was in my hold. I chuckled slightly nodding along and pulled back when I knew he was stable enough to carry on his own.
"I've learned to do so, sir. You've been an awfully good teacher," I said with a cheeky smile and he too let out a hoarse chuckle before he quickly traced his hand back to his throat with a pained expression.
"Sophie, I think I'm gonna have to retire at this rate," I gasped out of surprise and placed my fingers against his lips without thinking much of my actions and vigorously shook my head. I was never good at boxing or any other sport but I looked up to Mr. Kim greatly, he was just so hardworking and tough, I aspired to be just like him.
I adored him. Every part of him.
I watch Sophie fix her hair in the mirror for the millionth time and feel myself smile even through the nervousness that pumped in my blood both because of how beautiful she looked and also because of what was about to happen. It wasn't the first time but I couldn't bring myself to not worry about going up to the stage and speak in front of at least hundred people that were invited to the summit I had willingly asked to be a part of. She sighs and stomps her feet before draping herself over the royal blue couch next to my similarly designed seat. "Just leave it alone, you look perfect just like that."She picks her head back up from where it was lolling at the back of the couch and scowls directly at me. "Easy for you to say, you just have to comb yours once and you're good to be. God! I'm so jealous of men sometimes," Sophie complains even though I knew she didn't mean it."Well, sweetheart, I think you're forgetting that women too can get the
"You guys are really all going to sleep here?", my mouth was wide agape in bewilderment of my friends' weird request as they all nodded, not bothering to look away from the screen. "Well then, two of you can take the room upstairs, I'll sleep down here," I shrug and settle down on the round chair in front of Mrs. Kim and Kate."No, you sleep in your room and we take the living room," Mr. Min states in a no-nonsense tone, completely ridding me of any excuses. "It's your birthday, go have some 'me' time or whatever.""First of all, it's Nathan's room and my birthday is tomorrow," I dead-pan, picking at the hem of Nathan's shirt to busy myself and keep my thoughts away. "I'll have a whole lot of me time tomorrow, don't worry.""But what's the difference? What's his is yours and what's yours is his," Kate shrugged, nonchalantly throwing me a smile as she leaned back in her seat on the couch."Oh he's definitely not worrying and your bi
"Good morning Sophie," Kate hums softly from the other side of the room and I hum back, not having enough energy and still half asleep to reply to her greeting. "I'll be on the lawn if you need me.""Okay," I mumble, finally, and then her footsteps faded into the distance. Once again, the room felt too quiet and solemn without Nathan's warm presence in it. Gathering all my energy, I get up and stop in a sitting position on the bed, smiling softly at the drawn curtains.Who would've known, Nathan's habit of keeping the curtains drawn originated from Kate? I yawn and stretch my arms up to feel the satisfying pop of my muscles after a tiring night with all the guys and then having to drive back, completely exhausted. My head thrummed with a slight headache and I wondered if it was some sort of handover.Nah, maybe just lack of sleep.I find myself slipping down the bed and towards the bathroom in haste to brush the weird morning breat
My fingers tightened around the warm cup of coffee, it's temperature already helping with the shriveling cold outside even through my knitted gloves. They were a gift from Kate, she had been into knitting a few weeks back and made a cute couple on the back of them. The coffee shop was newly opened next to the Yongsan Seoul Hospital. I often came around to grab a cup of coffee for myself when I was particularly lonely or stressed out. The doorbell that chimed whenever somebody entered the shop made it's signature sound again and I ignored it, picking up a packet of brown sugar to rip it open and added it to my coffee."Didn't you already put two?", Hearing Mr. Min's voice, I jump up in surprise before a smile causes my cheeks to hurt. He smiles back at me, pointing his finger between the two already empty packets of sugar lying on the table. "You shouldn't put in so much, it's like aiming for diabetes.""I don't do that always," I lie, rolling m
"Is that-" he tremors."Yes," I assure."Are they-" he begins again."Yup," I confirm, last letter popping.Seok-Min was star-struck. He couldn't take his eyes off the three men huddled on the couch together for a whole minute. It wasn't like this was the first time Nathan had bumped into a fan or have somebody struck like that but there was a certain rawness to Seok-Min that made him shy.Maybe it was the fact that the past few days had been so rough on him that he didn't expect anybody to care about him anymore. He probably didn't expect the news announcer to be that whipped for him but it wasn't news to the rest of us. The man had literally defended Nathan on national television and risked his job trying to protect his name."Hey," Nathan chirps out, quietly and shyly rubbing the back of his head. I watch as Seok-Min smiles happily and I gesture for him to sit down once he had returned all their greetings."
It's five in the morning, my head rests back against Nathan's chest, we both have been talking for the whole night now, three hours washed away in love and unresolved matters. His back is against the headboard of my bed and the window is open ajar to let the chilly wind it.It seems like it might rain in the next few hours and I want nothing than to just lie down for one more day, waste a few more hours talking to him before we need to get up and face reality. Reality that there were lot of untangled ropes in our lives that were swirled around."Hey, Nat?", he hums, tightening his arm around my front. "Can I take up a nursing job or something? You know, I'll have to get my license and work," I trail off, feeling smaller with every silent second that passed by."What made you think you needed permission for that?", he asks, voice sharp and seemingly offended. "Do you think I have autonomy over your life? I can't believe you sometimes Soph."
Nathan's head was soundly placed in Kate's lap. She was sitting on the couch across me and it was pitch dark when I gazed out of my window. All four of us were unaware when time had ticked by so as soon as Nathan's eyes drooped shut in exhaustion of how big a day this had been, Jo went to bed too."So, how did you two meet?", Kate questions, drawing my blue cardigan closer around her shoulders with a soft sigh. "You know, you and Nat are two very different people. How did it- how did this happen?", she emphasizes on the word 'this' and I could only laugh softly in response."I have no idea either," I perk up, bouncing my feet against the carpeted floor of my living room. "Should I start from the beginning or?", Kate sits up a little more comfortably as I quirk my brow at her curiosity but it was understandable. She hadn't met her little boy in what must be two decades."From the start, tell me everything," she smiles and I couldn't help but ret
A week later me and Nathan sat on the freshly white painted benches of the park nearest to his mansion with his arms draped over the back of it in exhaustion after our run. I smile at the look of sheer bliss on his face and the glow that emitted due to his constant lifted moods.Mrs. Lee had explained Nathan's disorder to him and he had taken almost a day off to accept it but he later mentioned that a lot of things were starting to make sense for him and that he felt better knowing the cause behind it instead of being confused all the time.Kate was yet to meet him, especially after Mrs. Lee's clear instructions that he must be told before the two met and now that he knew, I guessed what would be the right time for them to meet?"Quit staring," he laughs, chest heaving up and down and I feel the vibrations rake down my own body. Shaking my head playfully, I reach over to my opposite side and throw him a baby blue towel so he could wipe his swea
"Don't you think this will be too shocking for him right now?", Mr. Min suggests, chewing on his lower lip with a concerned expression as he pulls his car into my apartment complex's parking lot."Yeah but she's staying with me and I'll make sure that the two of us don't end up coming back here later or atleast for a few days till Mrs. lee figures out the whole deal," I sigh and Kate's ears perk up at the suggestion as she shuffles closer to me from the back seat. "Hey, Kate, do you- would you mind me staying over at Nathan's since you know, we basically stay over at each other's all the time?""Of course not, why would I have a problem with that? You both are grown-ups," she chuckles. "I'm just excited to see him again, hear his voice again without the television screen."I smile back at the woman and nod softly. It was heartwarming to see how much she loved him and how accepting she was, of the two of us. What made me even happier was to know
