BEATRICE’S POV
The dreadful day that I had long avoided slowly slipped in like a thick fog consuming the sky, and now I knew it was either I faced it head-on or lost my job, and the latter wasn’t an option. I patted my face with the powder foam for the umpteenth time as my heart thumped loudly against my rib cage. It was funny how I had changed my hairstyle into something more elegant, just like my son advised. But what could Xander be up to this time? What was his plan? Did he know about the kids?
My hands trembled at the thought, but I straightened out the unseen wrinkles on my Red gown. The choice of colour was the only way to intimidate him, accompanied by my red lipstick. Call me unprofessional, but I wasn't about to let him have the last laugh.
The meeting was due in an hour, and the company was forty-five minutes drive from my house.
“You don’t have to go if you don’t want to. I can always support you and my grandkids.” Aunt Silvia reminded me the second I got into the sitting room. She was still dressed in her nightgown and a bonnet. My eyes ran over her pretty yet ageing face, and I realized how lucky I was to be loved by her.
“I can’t run forever, Aunt. I need to do this.” I said in an attempt to convince myself instead, and she nodded. Making her way towards me, she squeezed my shoulder gently.
“Let me know when you need me to beat him up.” She said jokingly, and I sent her a smile. Soon, I was driving into the company’s compound. The tall glass building looked like it cost a million dollars or more, maybe.
“What took you so long? He is almost here.” Alpha Lee scolded as he ran his palm over his shiny head. I could see his hands shaking, which made me slightly glad to know that I wasn't the only one who didn't want to be in the same closed space as Xander. “Remember, you are to do everything to make him accept the deal, even if it means licking the dirt off his shoes.”
I couldn't tell if he was joking or serious, but I laughed it off. Maybe I might need to call Aunt Silvia on my boss instead. We settled in the meeting room, awaiting his arrival ten minutes later.
“We shouldn't partner with someone who sees us as a joke.” The words slipped from my lips, and I quickly added, “Just an opinion.” When Alpha Lee sent me the coldest glare, sharp enough to slice through a skin.
“Keep it to yourself.”
The door was pushed open, and he strolled in in an intimidating manner, her scent filling the air.
“I am late. Had a meeting with Xnfity. Can we start?” He said without a hint of remorse, and I rolled my eyes at him for being a prick. I wanted to believe he caught that because he sent me a smile that didn't reach his eyes. Xnfity was one of our top competitors in the business, known to produce exceptional technologies.
I caught Alpha Lee's discomfort, and I wanted nothing more than to get out of there. Picking up the carefully designed proposal, I stepped forward and began. His eyes followed my every move, his gaze stern as he rolled the pen in his hand while my boss kept glancing from me to him. Alpha Lee seemed uncomfortable, evident through the half-baked laugh he kept sending Xander’s way. Deep down, I felt so bare and saw as memories of us having sex played through my mind, causing a small amount of electricity to course through me.
“Not bad.” Xander finally let out the second I was done, and I clenched my teeth angrily. The CEO himself had read this proposal, and he loved it, so how could this Monster with horns not be impressed? “I believe it needs something more, but we can talk about it over dinner.”
Alpha Lee was sitting close to the edge of the chair now. I wouldn't blame him, and we were running out of cash due to his endless dating scandals with ladies twice his age, most of them were married. “Is that a yes, Mr Evans?”
Silence hung in the air as Xander twisted his lips, staring hard at him.
After an eternity, he finally responded, “I wouldn't come here to say No.”
A sigh of relief escaped my lips, and Alpha Lee’s expression brightened.
“Thank you so much for this opportunity. We promise you won't regret it.” The CEO said, beaming hard while trying to shake Xander, who seemed unfazed by it.
“I don't have regrets, Mr Lee. I’m a businessman. The project flops, and you lose everything to me. The company and all that lies in it.” Xander informed me, and I froze. How? That was unprofessional. It wasn't part of the deal. It wasn't even supposed to exist. It was glaring that Xander was up to something, but why couldn't Alpha Lee tell?
Alpha Lee’s hand froze mid-air, his eyes widening while the two female staff with us in the room glanced at one another, mouthing something.
“Well, you do not expect me to invest billions of naira in a collapsing business for nothing, do you?” His lips thinned after he spoke, and he dropped the pen.
Alpha Lee looked confused for some seconds, accompanied by a forced smile. “We can adjust the conditions in my office alone.”
Xander looked like he wanted to protest, but he didn't. Instead, he nodded. “Fine, think about it. I will have my Beta draft and send my terms to you.”
I could feel my blood boiling as I squeezed the lower part of the document I held so hard. He was pushing us around and treating us like minions. Like fools.
He stood up, walking towards the door until he stopped, turning around with his palms in his pockets. “About the dinner?”
Alpha Lee laughed dryly, clearly affected by the terms and conditions. “We…we can do that now.”
Xander nodded before his eyes landed on me as though expecting a response.
“I have someplace to go to. The others can attend the dinner, right Alpha Lee.” I let out and watched his jaw tighten.
“I don't remember telling you the dinner was for them.” He frowned as he spoke, then turned to Alpha Lee. “Beatrice here has a dinner date with me to talk about the project and changes that could be made.”
My boss’s mouth fell wide open, and he looked transfixed.
“What do you say?” Xander added, sounding impatient while my annoyance multiplied. It was taking everything in me not to snatch the vase from the corner of the room and throw it in his face. The made-up image of him grunting in pain gave me a little closure.
“Beatrice, go with him.” Alpha Lee finally said, and I froze.
“No!” I let out, then quickly added, “Respectfully, sir, Mr. Xander here can always discuss business in the office. Going on a date wasn't part of my job requirements.” I threw the words at him, not minding if it might cost me my job. I didn't run from him for years to end up with him again.
Another silence. Alpha Lee had no words to say.
“If that is so, then I take my leave.” Xander inputted, turning around to twist the door knob.
“Wait!” Alpha Lee groaned, his eyes searching the floor. “Beatrice will go with you.” My jaw dropped as he turned towards me. “We need him, Beatrice.”
My eyes darted from him to Xander, who now had a smile. I let out a soft grunt and squeezed my eyes briefly.
“Fine,” I responded and caught the gleam in his eyes. The ‘I told you so’ type.
At that moment, I vowed to make it the worst date of his life.
BEATRICE’S POVI said no word to him as his car drove on. Being this close to him made the air thicken with tension, and I could barely breathe. He said nothing, but I could feel his eyes on me. My heart thumped against my ribcage, and my fingers trembled. “You look good today.” He muttered out of the blue, causing me to look at him. His eyes were as beautiful as always.“Thanks. You too.” I responded, nervousness munching off me. According to the books I had read, giving back compliments like these meant I didn't see myself worthy of it. Nevertheless, I look out the window again. Soon, we arrived at the tall White building, and his car was parked. I watched as his driver held his door open to let him down, then proceeded to do the same for me, and I caught Xander shaking his head.“We are here.” Xander’s voice pulled me back to reality. He was holding my door open with his left hand stretched towards me. “Hold me.”Something about the way he said it made me transfixed for a second, b
BEATRICE’S POVJust like every other normal day, I got up and got the kids dressed for school. All was going just fine until I opened my front door to find flowers sitting right there. BEATRICE’S POV“Retrieve the document and burn down the damn house!” A voice yelled outside, and the door creaked under the intense banging. The unpredictable slams were both unsettling and nerve-wracking.My hands trembled as I watched Father scurry to hide the brown envelope he held.“Go hide. Now!” He ordered, fear written all over him. But I was just seven. My feet remained frozen, and I let out wails, a piece of my chocolate birthday cake in my palm. “Daddy…”“Go pumpkin. You can't let them find you.” He picked me up, ignoring my wails as he rushed towards the back door. His breathing had gotten so heavy, and the voices from outside sent my fear on a spiral. I was holding onto his shirt as he put me down. “Don’t look back. Run until you get to the end of the world. Don’t let them get you.” “Daddy…” My voice broke. “Can you come with me?” I was scared of the dark. Of the outside world. Even though I was nothing but an Omega, my parents had done everything to protect my innocenc
BEATRICE’S POVI watched as they spoke in hushed tones. I was standing feet away from them, and from the frown on Fred’s face, I could tell he wasn't happy. But I was. I was glad I was finally leaving him and that I would be happy now. My mate patted him on the shoulder and then walked towards me. “Let’s go.” He informed, sending me a warm smile before he grabbed my palm.Peace was what I felt. Or was it pride when we walked amid the maids with their faces full of envy? Or was it their loud gasps? I could have sworn they would have wished to be for a second. It felt so good to experience this straight out of a rom movie feeling. “Get in.” He said and held out the door. Sending him a smile, I did even though I wanted to tell him I reeked and needed a bath. Or that my butt still hurt from the whip. But no, this was my new life now.I clutched onto my dress out of sheer happiness while trying not to scream or giggle as we drove away from the pack. Throughout the journey, he said nothi
BEATRICE’S POV It continued, the act of him making me watch her cum as he thrust into her while my heart ripped into two from the splitting pain. Every single time, my wolf would wail and groan in pain, but that was as much of a conversation as we had. In a few days, I had learned to accept my fate and gotten used to being a maid. A loud slam sent me back to reality, and I met with her brown piercing eyes. The female my mate cherished. “Iron this,” Anna said irritably, placing her silky blue dress on the kitchen counter. “Babe is taking me out in ten minutes.” She rolled her hair with a finger and then proceeded to eye me. “I wonder how he can be mated to someone like you. You look nothing like me, and don’t get your hopes up, and I’m the only one he wants.” All I could do was sigh as I watched her walk away. Tears weighed in my eyes at the thought of how unfortunate I was. I moved towards the iron board and ran the iron over the dress, hoping and wishing that one day, my mate w
BEATRICE’S POVThe morning light hit my face, and the scent of freshness dampened with sex lingered in the air. My head banged hard as I managed to drag myself out of bed. Bed? Silk white bedsheet and the hot naked blonde lying right next to me. I gasped the second it sank in. I had slept with a stranger. Kia was going to kill me. Picking my scattered clothes, I darted out of the room with my heart pounding fast. I knew I was so dead because, by now, Kia would be foaming. My adrenaline increased the second the house came into view. I caught the glances of the other enslaved people and their hushed whispers. I could tell I looked like a mess and probably still smelt like him. Sarah sent me a concerned look the second I stepped in. “He has been calling your names for hours. He is foaming. You need to go see him.”I sighed heavily and sent a nod before proceeding to his room. I cupped my palm and blew into it, and trust me, I stink. He was pacing up and down by the time I stepped in. O

BEATRICE’S POVMy eyes darted around the restaurant as I awaited the arrival of whoever the owner of the message was. Something about wanting to partner with the company: yes, maybe doing this without the knowledge of the boss was absurd, but if it turned out to be a potential client, then I wouldn’t have to put up with the annoying attitude of Xander. All we needed was someone willing to invest in ‘Dreamland’, our company’s new project. I glanced at my watch again. Thirty minutes had passed, yet nothing. I let out a frustrated sigh the second the voice in my head reminded me that it could have been a prank.“HI, Beatrice. We meet again.” The overly familiar voice vibrated in my ears, and I felt my heart flip multiple times. My breathing got stuck the second our eyes met. “Did you miss me?” He laughed dryly. “Kai. BEATRICE’S POVThe date the night before had been a disaster. It had taken every strength in me not to ditch him and run. Was it the way he kept calling me pumpkin? Or trying to act like we were so much in love. The only reason I had stayed back was because Aunt Silvia made me promise to get through this one date. For the sake of the kids, she had said. However, it came in handy when my worst nightmare decided to stroll through the room like he fucking owned it. Every step he took had my heart pounding because I could tell from the hotness of his gaze on me. It burnt through my skin and threatened to search my soul as well. But above all, I knew he was dangerous, and I knew better than to let myself mingle with him beyond business level. Or to let him know that my babies exist. “How was the date?” Aunt Silvia finally asked as she poured herself a cup of coffee and settled beside me. I had expected the question all day, yet it was late afternoon. I felt something wrong with how she mo

She tricks you into hating every core of yourself, then shows up without a feeling of remorse.I grunted as I squeezed hard the wine glass I held. This was the seventh glass I was taking, and every single time, her face came back clearly in my mind. Her two-timing yet pretty face. A face that I was going to make shed tears. I lowered my head to see my blood drop on the tiles. The broken glass had penetrated my palm, yet I felt no pain. I had been through worse. Pulling out my phone, I dialed my Beta, and his voice came through in a second.“Get me all the information on her,” I ordered and hung up before he could respond. Wrapping my palm, I headed out of the hotel, straight to one of the bars I had found in town. The whole place was rowdy, with the smell of alcohol and sweat consuming the air. The loud music blared from the speakers, and I settled in the corner of the VIP room, overloo
