Beatrice POV.
“You have to be kidding, sir. How is he the CEO?” My voice quivered as I watched him sit there with his shoulders squared but Alpha Lee didn't seem bothered. He shrugged his shoulders and then stroked his chin.
“Nice question, Beatrice, but this is my company, and I'll rule it as I deem it first.” He bellowed, then laughed dryly when Xander gave him an eye. “Sorry, I mean, was my company. Besides, Mr. Xander here was nice enough to take this shithole of my palms. Too many debts. Phew!” He sighed. “I’m free.” He added a cackle.
“Sir, you can't be serious about letting him take over the company. Can't you see he has a motive? He has a motive, sir. You cannot do this to us. You can't do this to me.” I was shaking as I spoke. I was on the verge of breaking down. Things were spiralling too fast, and somehow it felt like the goddess was mocking me.
“My decision has been made, Beatrice. He is the new CEO. I will be in the background to coordinate everything to ensure this collaboration succeeds.”
I felt the world closing on me. I felt as though the earth was shaking beneath my feet. I was losing my mind. Everything started to seem like a dream. His mind was made up. Xander seems to be having a good time. Smiling like he just won a fucking lottery. Somehow, it felt like my life just went from being a ten to being a zero.
I knew this was the part where I called it quits and resigned, but I could not bring myself to. I watched as Alpha Lee Drakon stepped out of the room happily. He was dancing as though life had just gone from being the worst to being perfect for him. I couldn't blame him, though. He had a lot of debts on his hands, and this seemed like the best solution for him, but not for me.
“I don't know what you think you're doing, but this will not work. You have to call it quits now. You should not be here. You should not be back here trying to mess with my life. You should not be here. Xander, you don't belong here.” I yelled as I paced up and down the room. Anger surged through me. And yet, all he did was smirk as though my pain gave him joy.
“I love it when you look pissed, Beatrice.” He stood up from where he sat, walking around the room as he trailed his finger over every surface he saw. He looked so relaxed and composed. His black jacket gripping his back tightly and carving out his muscles. The image of him naked flashed through my mind but I shook it off. “It shows you can show emotions. Well, I am your new CEO now, So you're stuck with me. Newsflash, you can’t run from me because I will find you.” He sounded more like a threat than a statement as he turned to look my way with a bright smile on his face, and I stormed out of the office enraged, slamming the glass door so hard that I wished it was his face and he was in pain.
This was not just about resigning anymore. If there was one thing about Xander that I was certain of, it was that he would cross to the end of the world to make my life a living hell, crawl into the hole and pull me out. He wasn’t the type to give up.
So now, this was about survival. About fighting him with all I had in me. But how? How was I to face a monster like him?
Make him hate you.
The voice in my head rang.
If he hated me, then he would let me be, right?
As I breathed, I splashed water on my face, trying to balance myself from shaking with rage. I refused to let Xander dig his claws into me. My sanity. He wasn't going to get the best part of me. I stared at my reflection in the mirror. I was standing in the restroom hoping to wake up from this nightmare. Even as I pinched myself, slapped myself across the face, I was still stuck in this nightmare.
The second I returned to the office, I saw Vera twirling with her hands in the air. She blabbed about how Xander was the new CEO. I caught Pearl eyeing her occasionally, and I could tell she wanted him, too.
“I know you want him, but he's mine, so get your claws off him.” I heard Pearl say, and I looked up to see her eyeing me badly.
“Trust me, darling, you can have him,” I responded and continued to type on my laptop. If possible, I could ordain their wedding, then I would. Anything to get him far from me and my babies. My fingers were trembling because deep down in my gut, I could feel his eyes glaring at me. When I raised my head to look in his direction, I was right; his eyes were glued to me. I shivered and looked away.
Long agonising minutes passed, and I still could not complete the document, not because I was incapable, but because I could not think straight, knowing he was now the new CEO.
Was this document even useful anymore?
A few minutes later, I felt a tap on my table, and I raised my head to see Xander standing right before me. All eyes were on me.
“Get me a cup of coffee.” He ordered and started to walk away.
I froze, staring at him in disbelief. My anger flew over the top. Was he really serious? Was he being real right now?
“But that isn't my job, sir. It is not my job to get you a coffee.” I yelled.
“It is now, Beatrice, so get to it!” With this, he walked into his office. I could imagine the smirk on his face. The happiness bubbling in his chest, the excitement that came with pissing me off. But not today.
I forced on a smile and adjusted my orange sleek top, squaring my shoulder.
I won’t let him have the last laugh.
“Do you know the CEO?” Vera asked out of the blue, and I laughed awkwardly.
“We just met him, Vera. How can I?” I lied and excused myself.

The queue at the coffee shop took longer than I expected and after twenty minutes of failed attempts, I finally got his coffee. A bead of sweat trailed down the back of my neck as I ran through the hall leading to the elevator.
“Hold the door!!” I yelled, running towards the elevator's door and luckily, a good Samaritan did. I heaved a sigh as I stepped in, and muttered a thank you. He nodded and tried to strike a conversation which I was uninterested in. He seemed to sense it because he stopped talking.

I was breathing heavily as I walked towards his office. I knocked on the door and pushed it open to see Pearl adjusting her white blouse. Her skirt was shorter now, and I couldn't care less.
She eyed me badly and stormed out of the office.
“This is your coffee, sir,” I said, stretching it towards him.
His finger brushed mine on purpose, and I caught a mocking gleam in his eyes. I rolled my eyes in disgust and wiped my palm against my White skirt.
“I will take my leave now, sir, since you have no use for me anymore,” I said and started walking away.
“Stop!” He roared, causing me to halt in my tracks. “Didn’t Lee tell you, or are you proving stubborn again?” He raised a brow.
My heart raced out of fear of what he might be hinting at. My body trembled, and the clock ticked clearer.
“You are my Secretary now, and your job is to be next to me, mate.” The last came as a whisper, and everything around me stopped.
“Your what?” My voice shook.
“Welcome, mate, to hell.” He laughed.
BEATRICE’S POV“Retrieve the document and burn down the damn house!” A voice yelled outside, and the door creaked under the intense banging. The unpredictable slams were both unsettling and nerve-wracking.My hands trembled as I watched Father scurry to hide the brown envelope he held.“Go hide. Now!” He ordered, fear written all over him. But I was just seven. My feet remained frozen, and I let out wails, a piece of my chocolate birthday cake in my palm. “Daddy…”“Go pumpkin. You can't let them find you.” He picked me up, ignoring my wails as he rushed towards the back door. His breathing had gotten so heavy, and the voices from outside sent my fear on a spiral. I was holding onto his shirt as he put me down. “Don’t look back. Run until you get to the end of the world. Don’t let them get you.” “Daddy…” My voice broke. “Can you come with me?” I was scared of the dark. Of the outside world. Even though I was nothing but an Omega, my parents had done everything to protect my innocenc
BEATRICE’S POVI watched as they spoke in hushed tones. I was standing feet away from them, and from the frown on Fred’s face, I could tell he wasn't happy. But I was. I was glad I was finally leaving him and that I would be happy now. My mate patted him on the shoulder and then walked towards me. “Let’s go.” He informed, sending me a warm smile before he grabbed my palm.Peace was what I felt. Or was it pride when we walked amid the maids with their faces full of envy? Or was it their loud gasps? I could have sworn they would have wished to be for a second. It felt so good to experience this straight out of a rom movie feeling. “Get in.” He said and held out the door. Sending him a smile, I did even though I wanted to tell him I reeked and needed a bath. Or that my butt still hurt from the whip. But no, this was my new life now.I clutched onto my dress out of sheer happiness while trying not to scream or giggle as we drove away from the pack. Throughout the journey, he said nothi
BEATRICE’S POV It continued, the act of him making me watch her cum as he thrust into her while my heart ripped into two from the splitting pain. Every single time, my wolf would wail and groan in pain, but that was as much of a conversation as we had. In a few days, I had learned to accept my fate and gotten used to being a maid. A loud slam sent me back to reality, and I met with her brown piercing eyes. The female my mate cherished. “Iron this,” Anna said irritably, placing her silky blue dress on the kitchen counter. “Babe is taking me out in ten minutes.” She rolled her hair with a finger and then proceeded to eye me. “I wonder how he can be mated to someone like you. You look nothing like me, and don’t get your hopes up, and I’m the only one he wants.” All I could do was sigh as I watched her walk away. Tears weighed in my eyes at the thought of how unfortunate I was. I moved towards the iron board and ran the iron over the dress, hoping and wishing that one day, my mate w
BEATRICE’S POVThe morning light hit my face, and the scent of freshness dampened with sex lingered in the air. My head banged hard as I managed to drag myself out of bed. Bed? Silk white bedsheet and the hot naked blonde lying right next to me. I gasped the second it sank in. I had slept with a stranger. Kia was going to kill me. Picking my scattered clothes, I darted out of the room with my heart pounding fast. I knew I was so dead because, by now, Kia would be foaming. My adrenaline increased the second the house came into view. I caught the glances of the other enslaved people and their hushed whispers. I could tell I looked like a mess and probably still smelt like him. Sarah sent me a concerned look the second I stepped in. “He has been calling your names for hours. He is foaming. You need to go see him.”I sighed heavily and sent a nod before proceeding to his room. I cupped my palm and blew into it, and trust me, I stink. He was pacing up and down by the time I stepped in. O
BEATRICE’S POVSeven years had passed. Seven years of working hard to make ends meet and take good care of my babies. Claiming a new identity, a new name, and finding a purpose. Aunt Silvia had been of great help and treated me like her daughter ever since, even after Sarah’s death, and I was glad that I wasn’t utterly alone in this world. However, it still made my heart ache to date that I couldn’t save Sarah. I owed everything I was today to her.“Don’t forget, Tricia, you must convince him to partner with us. The company depends on it. Your job, too.” Alpha Lee Drakon, the company’s CEO, reminded me as he rolled in his chair, stroking his mustache. The light from the window reflected on his bald head. XANDER’S POVMy eyes ran over the scorching sun as I puffed another smoke in the air, letting the stinging taste of the whiskey burn my chest badly. This was just a glimpse of what I deserved for what I did to my mate. Even though It had been seven years, I still couldn’t stop blaming myself for showing up in her life. If only I had let her be. If only I never got down from the car the other day. Suppose I had ignored my wolf’s endless pleas to meet her just on my way back from a meeting. I lowered my head to see my blood drop on the tiles. The broken glass had penetrated my palm, yet I felt no pain. I had been through worse. Pulling out my phone, I dialed my Beta, and his voice came through in a second.“Get me all the information on her,” I ordered and hung up before he could respond. BEATRICE’S POVJust like every other normal day, I got up and got the kids dressed for school. All was going just fine until I opened my front door to find flowers sitting right there. Every single space was occupied by one. Flowers of different colours and kinds.“Oh, Mummy's got an admirer.” My kids' excitement pierced through the air.“Waw! He must like Mummy to bring all of this. It must have taken him all night. It is just like Cinderella and the prince.” Charlotte awned. While I just stood there transfixed. BEATRICE’S POVI said no word to him as his car drove on. Being this close to him made the air thicken with tension, and I could barely breathe. He said nothing, but I could feel his eyes on me. My heart thumped against my ribcage, and my fingers trembled. “You look good today.” He muttered out of the blue, causing me to look at him. His eyes were as beautiful as always.“Thanks. You too.” I responded, nervousness munching off me. According to the books I had read, giving back compliments like these meant I didn't see myself worthy of it. Nevertheless, I look out the window again. Soon, we arrived at the tall White building, and his car was parked. I watched as his driver held his door open to let him down, then proceeded to do the same for me, and I caught Xander shaking his head.“We are here.” Xander’s voice pulled me back to reality. He was holding my door open with his left hand stretched towards me. “Hold me.”Something about the way he said it made me transfixed for a second, b
BEATRICE’S POVThe dreadful day that I had long avoided slowly slipped in like a thick fog consuming the sky, and now I knew it was either I faced it head-on or lost my job, and the latter wasn’t an option. I patted my face with the powder foam for the umpteenth time as my heart thumped loudly against my rib cage. It was funny how I had changed my hairstyle into something more elegant, just like my son advised. But what could Xander be up to this time? What was his plan? Did he know about the kids? My hands trembled at the thought, but I straightened out the unseen wrinkles on my Red gown. The choice of colour was the only way to intimidate him, accompanied by my red lipstick. Call me unprofessional, but I wasn't about to let him have the last laugh. The meeting was due in an hour, and the company was forty-five minutes drive from my house. “You don’t have to go if you don’t want to. I can always support you and my grandkids.” Aunt Silvia reminded me the second I got into the sittin
BEATRICE’S POVMy eyes darted around the restaurant as I awaited the arrival of whoever the owner of the message was. Something about wanting to partner with the company: yes, maybe doing this without the knowledge of the boss was absurd, but if it turned out to be a potential client, then I wouldn’t have to put up with the annoying attitude of Xander. All we needed was someone willing to invest in ‘Dreamland’, our company’s new project. I glanced at my watch again. Thirty minutes had passed, yet nothing. I let out a frustrated sigh the second the voice in my head reminded me that it could have been a prank.“HI, Beatrice. We meet again.” The overly familiar voice vibrated in my ears, and I felt my heart flip multiple times. My breathing got stuck the second our eyes met. “Did you miss me?” He laughed dryly. “Kai. What are you doing here?” I was in shock. How was he five hours away from his pack? Why?“Oh, baby. Is that the ‘I miss you’ I get after so long?” He was dressed in a whi
