Beatrice’s POV

The moment I stepped into the house, I felt so tired, from my temple to my whole legs. This Xander of a man is committed to making my day at the office miserable Every Time. I felt like that was his main purpose on this earth.

Every single time, he keeps overloading me with work. The fact that he pays a high salary doesn't cover the fact that he acts rudely toward me. I'm so darn tired of him and the office as a whole.

The only thing keeping me upright was the thought of my babies—the only light in my dark, chaotic world.

I tiptoed inside, careful not to wake them. The streetlights dimly lighted the living room. Outside, because the triplets must have slept, it cast soft shadows across the furniture. The triplets lay curled up in their beds, their small chests rising and falling rhythmically. A soft smile tugged at my lips despite my fatigue.

They looked so peaceful, so untouched by the cruelty of the world. I can't imagine the day Xander will find out about them because I know he will surely find out one day, but I won't let him know soon so as to avert danger.

I wanted to reach out, stroke their hair, and reassure them that I would always be there for them no matter how hard life got. But I couldn’t risk disturbing their rest. Instead, I sighed, tired and sank onto the worn-out couch, my body instantly melting into its cushions.

"Just for a few minutes," I told myself as my eyes fluttered shut.

But no sooner had I drifted into much-needed sleep than a small, gentle hand shook my shoulder.

"Mommy… wake up."

I forced my heavy eyelids open and was met with my daughter Charlotte’s wide, concerned eyes. Behind her, Caleb and Cooper stood, rubbing their tired faces.

"Mommy, you're home late again," Caleb murmured, his voice still thick with sleep.

“This is exactly 5:30 am on the dot.” They all chorused.

Guilt twisted my stomach. I had promised them that I'd never come home late again, but I failed them. I don't even think I know how to be a mother; these kids are too good to be real. I had to make up an apology real quick because their faces looked hurt.

"I know, baby. I’m so sorry," I whispered, pulling them into a tight embrace. "Mommy had to work late again."

“ I will deal with the person who makes Mom work like this,” Cooper said.

I laughed and said to myself, only if they knew it was their father.

After that, they didn’t say anything; they just clung to me, their warmth making my heart ache even more. I wished things were different. I wished I didn’t have to push myself to the brink to survive. I wished Xander wasn’t determined to make my life a living hell. I wish....“ Whoops.” I exclaimed.

I pushed those thoughts aside and mustered up a smile. "Come on, let’s get you ready for school."

They looked at themselves in confusion. Before they could even talk, I told them I would be going to the office early, so I'd drop them off first.

Even though exhaustion clung to me like a second skin, I bathed them, dressed them in their uniforms, and prepared a quick breakfast. They chattered about their upcoming school projects and new friends, their innocent voices a welcome distraction from the turmoil inside me.

When I dropped them off at school, I returned home and noticed I was already running late.

I changed into my green fully fitted gown, accentuating my curves and bringing out my sculpted rear; I used some jewellery and was set to go to the company.

A Ticking Clock, I sped faster in my car, trying to get to the office.

As soon as I stepped into the office, Pearl—my colleague and closest ally—rushed to my side, expressing concern and urgency. Well, I had expected her to come to give me a gist, but this time around, her face was more serious. More like she was already sent to look for me before.

"Beatrice, why are you late?" she whispered, glancing around to ensure no one was eavesdropping.

I let out a heavy sigh. "Late night at work. I barely slept; I just hurriedly dressed up this morning."

Pearl pursed her lips. "Xander already asked for you. He didn’t look way too happy."

Of course, he didn’t. That man was never happy unless he made my life miserable; I guess that is only what he enjoys.

I inhaled deeply, forcing air into my lungs even though every breath felt like swallowing glass. My fingers curled into my palms, nails biting, but I barely noticed the sting. I couldn’t afford to. Not when I was about to step into the lion’s den again.

Straightening my spine, I walked down the hallway, each step echoing in the eerie silence of the office. The air here was always cold, not from the temperature but from something far worse—his presence. It tainted everything, making it harder to breathe and harder to think.

I reached his office door and knocked once. Then, before I could even register a response, I pushed it open.

Xander sat behind his massive mahogany desk, the picture of effortless dominance. His sharp blue eyes lifted the second I entered, locking onto mine like a wolf catching sight of prey. His jaw was tight, his expression unreadable, but the weight of his gaze sent a chill through me.

And then, without a word, he grabbed the stack of papers from his desk and sent them flying. I was still wondering what those papers were about until I noticed they looked like the proposal I worked on yesterday.

The crisp white pages scattered through the air, fluttering like dying birds before they hit the ground around me.

I froze, my pulse roaring in my ears.

"Redo it," he said, his tone cold, detached, as if what he had just done wasn’t meant to humiliate me.

My lips parted, my breath coming out uneven. I knew those papers. They weren’t just documents—the business proposals I had spent the entire night perfecting. The ones I had agonised over, checking and rechecking for mistakes. The same ones he had signed off on before I left yesterday.

For a long moment, I just stared at him. Disbelief warred with fury, twisting inside me like a blade.

"But I already—"

Did this man know how many hours I used on this

Did he?

I don't think he did. Did he know his kids were worried about me when I was working late yesterday? Did he know I had to rush to the office?

Oh, my goodness.

"Do I look like I care?" His voice sliced through my protest, sharp as a knife. His gaze was like ice, merciless and unyielding. "You’ll do it again. And this time, do it properly."

I swallowed hard; I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces, feeling the burn in my throat.

This wasn’t about the work—it never was. He's just showing cruelty and power.

It was about power, control, and reminding me that no matter how hard I worked or how much I tried, I would never win with him.

I should have expected this or something worse than this!

Of course, he wouldn’t let me get through a single day without making me suffer.

My hands curled into fists at my sides, but I forced myself to unclench them. Forced myself to stand still when every muscle in my body screamed at me to react.

But I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.

Biting the inside of my cheek until I tasted blood, I turned on my heel and walked out, my movements stiff and controlled. The moment I stepped outside his office, the mask I had been holding together cracked.

The emotions I had been shoving down all day crashed over me like a tidal wave.

Anger burned hot in my veins, making my hands tremble. Frustration coiled tight in my chest, suffocating me. But beneath it all, buried deep in a place I hated acknowledging, was something far worse.

Heartbreak.

Because no matter how much I tried to pretend otherwise, a part of me still longed for the Xander I once had sex with.

The man I had given myself to.

The man who had whispered lots in the dark, tracing his fingers down my spine as if I were something precious.

The man who had shattered me without a second thought.

And the worst part?

Even now, after everything, he still had a hold on me. And I hated myself for it. He could control me, but guess what?

Beatrice’s POVI didn’t know how long I could take this in this office. I had to work overnight on this proposal, and it was rejected with only one word: re-do it. Who does Xander Thane think he is?He owns the company—not me or my hardwork!I can't even explain how I'm feeling. I've had no sleep or dinner, yet everything I worked on got rejected. I made my way to my cubicle, where everyone looked at me from time to time and whispered, but who cares? I have to rewrite this proposal!I think I'll get the ideas from the last proposal and edit it. I moved my cursor to bring out the extracts and implemented them, then went to the demon's office to tell him I was done. I knocked on the door and opened it. I was about to submit it when he said to re-do it, but... You haven't checked it!“ I am the boss here, not you."I immediately turned out of the office before I broke into tears. I buried my head and stared at the colourful tiles until I got to my cubicle. The office lights buzzed ove

Xander’s POVI sat on the chair in my office; the office seemed oddly quiet today, or was it my imagination? The weight of my decisions today still made my heart feel heavy. It was as if my whole body was shaking internally— probably a travel of anger from my confrontation with Beatrice. I wonder if I kept doing this to her. Every time I got home, I sniffed her clothes and longed for her body, but anytime I saw her, my cruelty was not under control. She's even my mate, for that matter.Oh my Goodness, I'm so exhausted! It had been hours since I had rejected her proposal— this should be her fifth attempt to impress me, though I fully knew nothing was wrong with the first proposal.I closed my eyes and leaned back in the chair, taking a long, slow breath. I had thrown the proposal aside without thinking, frustration clouding my judgment. But now that I was alone, the anger had dissipated into something deeper—something I couldn't quite understand or fathom. Maybe it was guilt. Maybe i

Beatrice's POVI couldn't even wait for the bell to go off in the office so I could go home and meet the apples of my eyes.I walked into the house, my mind exploding in different Angles. Everything just happened in a little period. I'm sure Xander was stunned that I could confront him just like that, but the sad reality is that I still can't get out of that company because even if I hide in a hole, Xander will find me. So I think relocating is the best option. I have to discuss it with Sarah, and everything will be done. I needed space and time, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that no matter how hard I tried, it would follow me.The kids were in the living room, laughing and playing, completely unaware of the tension that had built up between their mother and their father — the man who had always seemed to be a constant, whether I liked it or not."Mom!" Charlotte shouted as I walked through the door.I forced a smile, trying to push away the discomfort in my chest. "Hey, sweetie.

Beatrice's POVI don't even care if I was putting him in danger now. I only need to go back and stay back because apart from his cruelty, he isn't totally inhumane and he is even my mate and I need to get reassurance that he is safe.I returned back to the hotel. I ran to Xander's room after collecting the spare key in the room from the receptionist. I immediately opened the door and I found that Xander was still sleeping. My mind was. At rest. I moved onto the couch so as to sleep. I hadn't slept for too long when I felt a gentle pair of warm hands touch me. I don't know what happened but I was immediately aroused, my nipple stood straight immediately and I had goosebumps all over but what's all this? It's only Xander and I in the room so definitely, it must be Xander and when I looked up,it was actually him. I wanted to actually get his hands off me but my wolf had completely taken over me, instead, I drew him closer and our mouths were locked into each other, our tongues were entan

Xander’s POV I had pushed Beatrice away but she didn't even consider I was cruel but still took good care of me. I had been so rough to get yesterday, explored her interior, made marks on her but she didn't even complain. I felt we were the goddess made— mate. The rhythmic ticking of the hotel clock filled the silence between us, each second stretching longer than it should. My fever had subsided slightly, though my body still ached from the night before. But I barely focused on that—I was more preoccupied with something else.Beatrice.She had stayed. The smell of her cologne lingered in the air, it reminded me of the cloth of hers that I had kept at home. Even when I pushed her away, even when I told her to leave, she stayed. She placed a cool cloth against my forehead, made sure I drank water, and sat beside me in silence as I drifted in and out of sleep.I thought we could be affectionate to each other from here because no one had done that for me before. Not out of obligation.

Beatrice’s POV.What had just happened in there? I was in there yesterday, our wolves were so into each other, I had to endure the pain. My tongue was sore and my back was filled with wounds. All that just happened a while ago — I can't stop reminiscing on the past events. The shrill ringing of my phone broke the heavy silence between us.Xander’s grip on my wrist tightened for a moment before he let go, his gaze shifting toward the phone screen. I followed his eyes and felt my heart sink. The triplets had called and I knew the reason for this call was because they had been worrying since they had been with aunty Sarah since and I've not been home since. I think I knew what angered Xander that made him push me out of his house. I had saved their contact with love emojis, not thinking twice about it. They were my children, my everything. But now, as Xander’s face darkened and his jaw clenched, I realized how it must have looked to him, was he jealous? Well i thought that was cute

V Beatrice’s POVMonday mornings were never easyBut this one? This one was a complete and utter disaster.I had overslept.I never oversleep.Well… apart from some random occasions, but those were rare—so rare that even my own body was betraying me this time.Yesterday had been a whirlwind. Between taking care of Xander, escorting him to the hotel after his reckless behavior, dealing with his insufferable attitude, and then going home to the triplets—because, apparently, motherhood didn’t care whether I was exhausted or not—I had barely gotten a second to breathe.I had collapsed onto my bed, telling myself I would just rest my eyes for a minute after the day's stress.A minute. But after my eyes was flashed open the next morning, the rays of the sun directly shone on my face .“Shit!” I bolted upright, my pulse pounding in my ears. Oh my goodness, Xander would have begun the meeting. The panic hit instantly. No alarm. No backup plan. Just pure, unfiltered chaos. My brain went in

Beatrice’s POVThe office was quite silent today, everyone was facing their business, today was really a bad day to start with, only for me to enter the company and find out, my days of working was wasted?I gathered my things and prepared to leave immediately it was 6:45. My eyes was glued to the clock so tightly that every seconds was noticed. The time on the wall clock says 6:45pm. My shift had ended but my mind had been shifted onto something else. Frustration and exhaustion. Xander had pushed me to my limit today. I always thought the way he used to act to me was the way he knew best but now it was clearly evident that he was punishing me. After the tense conversation we had his office, I had spent the rest of the day buried in work, trying—and failing—to drown out the emotions bubbling inside me. But no matter how many reports I skimmed, I still couldn’t shake the angry feeling in me. He had dismissed my proposal, forced me to redo it, only to quietly use my original versio

Gold details graced his mask, which Kai would never wear. And the most revealing thing of all? There was no cruel smirk, no sly glint in his eye that foretold suffering.Just a stranger.I took a deep breath, willing my heart to slow.Get a grip, Beatrice.I took a shaky breath out, turned away and shov

So I started to head back to the hotel suite the minute I could.Xander attend to some urgent business matters this morning so I had the perfect excuse to get a much needed breather.I walked inside, kicked off my heels, flopped down on the couch and rubbed my temples. My body was snug in warmth, utterly comfortable — except for one small issue.Something was off.Something was wrong. My eyes opened wide, and the moment I did, my heart jumped and I froze.Xander.He was right there.Staring at me.I sucked in my breath, choking on it as I observed him. He was on his side, propped on one elbow, his dark eyes glued to mine as if I was the most interesting thing. His jaw clenched, as if he wanted to argue. “Suit yourself.”His tone was inscrutable, but I noticed the minute change in the angle of his body — how his fingers twitched at his sides, the infinitesimal drumroll between him and the world he was about to leave. He didn’t like the idea. But he let it go, for now.I shunted aside the way my chest tightened at the idea of him arguing further, of him insisting I take the bed. It would have almost been easier if he had stayed cold, detached, how he once was. This new version, the version of him who lingered too close, who looked at me the way you’d look at something soft and precious, was so much more dangerous.Xander reache

The quiet murmur of conversation came from a few guests lounging in the area, but I didn’t engage, leaning against the railing and staring at the city lights below. It was strange being here.Funny how my whole life had split in two, so suddenly.Seven days ago, I went from being an omega fighting for my life. Now I was flying on private jets, staying in presidential suites, and sharing a room with Xander Thane.I sighed and pulled out my phone, needing a reprieve from my runaway thoughts.Sarah answered on the second ring.“Hello, you,” she said, warmly.A smile tugged at my lips. “Hey. The inky smell of the sea blended with the warm sun-baked smell of earth, filling my lungs as I looked out over the sprawling city ahead. This trip was meant to be purely business. Meetings, negotiations, expansion strategies — every detail had been meticulously plotted with brutal precision. And yet I felt deep inside that there was more on my mind than business.I had another goal.Beatrice.I wasn’t blind. I noticed how she became when I was around—the little reluctance in her posture, the subdued but resolute rejection that would shimmer in her eyes when I came too close, the way she had never quite lowered her guard. For years I had been cruel, pushing her away, keeping her at an arm’s length for reasons I wasn’t even sure I could justify any longer. But something had changed between us.Something I couldn’t name. The whispering had begun the moment he walked away, but I didn’t linger to hear it. I no longer had the mental energy to entertain their speculation.I walked to my desk and settled into my chair with a long, deep breath. My hands were still shaking. Why had he done that? What was the point of this … this act?Because that’s what it had to be, isn’t it? A calculated move. A knowing performance with some agenda I wasn’t privy to yet.Except—his face. The look on his face when he said, “Get in the front seat.” The way he looked at me in the car.
