Chapter 1: Not Worthy of her

1. Barbara grabbed her bag into the living room of Calvin's villa. 

"Fiona; take my things to the car," Barbara ordered, Fiona was one of the maids in the Calvin's villa, and she pulled the bag, as soon as Barbara instructed her to. 

"Where are you going?" Hazel, her mother asked with a soft but annoying voice. 

"I need a break, I just can't stand the sight of Claudia." 

"Barbara, she is your sister and it's..."

"Yes, she is my sister and it's only right that she takes everything that rightfully belongs to me, including my boyfriend." 

"Barbara, you don't talk back at me, you should..." 

"Grateful for everything, yes I am grateful, I just need space and time alone."

"Fine! If that is what you want but you should be back by the weekend, your dad will be back and you should know, that no members of the family should be out of this roof when he returns." 

Hazel said Barbara didn't say a word to her, she left Hazel. Hazel is a proud woman in her forties and the wife of Calvin, the founder of Calvin's Group, the family is into the resort business, people from far and wide come to the resort for recreation, being the wife of one of the famous family give her pride and make her see others as nothing, she views the poor as nothing and she only likes to mingle with the high and mighty. 

"Young mistress! Where should I take you?" 

"The beach house!" 

That was the only word, Barbara said to Ethan, her driver, as soon as she sat at the back of the car, her eyes were focused on the screen having a view of the different places but her heart was far from it, she loved nature that is one of the reasons, she always go hiking but this day is different, everything is far from pleasant to her. She tries to control her emotions but everything is not working for her, the morning incident keeps playing in her head. 

Earlier that morning, she had worn blue jeans and a t-shirt with sneakers to match her top. In her simple outfit, she looks really beautiful, she plans to surprise her boyfriend, who happens to be Derrick, the son of Leonard's group. 

Instead of calling him before going to his house. 

"Of what use calling him, when it's a surprise?" She said mentally as she get to the entrance of the building, she turned the main door knob, but the door wasn't locked. 

Even if it was, she has her keys to the building, as the door knob click open she walked right into the living room, all the lights are on and there are two empty wine glasses, she assumed that he might have had a visitor earlier but as she goes deeper, taking the stairs one after the other, she could hear sounds

Those annoying sounds of a man and a woman downing in ecstasy echoed in the room, it was so loud and irritating to Barbara. 

She pushed the door open only to see her beloved sister and supposed boyfriend making out on his bed. 

Her tears drop, at first, she seems to have lost her voice, Derrick had heard the door knob shift but he is too carried away to take notice of his surrounding. 

As soon as her bag falls to the floor, the noise makes the two pull from each other, they look at her without even making a move to go to her. 

"Hey baby, let's continue," Claudia claims Derrick's lips again. 

"Claudia!"

This time, Barbara called out, she just can't believe that Claudia and Derrick would cheat on her,  her sister and her fiance sleeping together. 

"What?" Claudia burst into laughter after asking that. 

"Do you have shame? I just caught you sleeping with my boyfriend and you still laughed like the shameless harlot you are..."

"Hey stop it, you are the harlot here, Derrick, you should tell her, how long we have been dating, and for the record, we are engaged." 

"Engaged?' 

"Of course!" This time, Derrick said, she look at them like some moron, this is not some joke, it getting too serious to be overlooked. 

"Were you thinking, I could pick you over her? You know I don't do good girls, I got blood running in my veins and I don't intend to become a eunuch because of you." 

"Derrick, you are kidding me?" 

"Barbara, you should stop thinking highly of yourself, no one will want to leave an heir and go for an adopted child that no one knows who her parents are." 

"Claudia shut up!" Barbara said Amid tears, she couldn't believe that this was happening to her.

"Go home sister, you look so pitiful, Dad will be so detested saying his princess cry over a man." 

"Derrick, you said you love me, you love me right?" 

"Love?" Derrick takes that part like it's irritating. "Every whore doesn't deserve a good man.' 

"Wait, I have never cheated on you, I swear, you..."

"Barbara, get lost, you should know I have long trashed you, like a used doll." 

"I beg..."

"I said get out." Derrick was ready to throw Barbara out but then Claudia pulled him back.

"Hey! Don't waste your breath on her, Let her, watch as we make out." Claudia closed the Gap between them, claiming Derrick's lips with hers. 

The two are shameless, she no longer needs an invitation to get out, their escapades are enough to show her the door, by the time, she shuts the door behind her, her tears flow like they were a river. 

She just couldn't hold it anymore, their laughter, hurtful words, and betrayal were one thing she couldn't forget in a hurry. 

Claudia never loved her but Derrick, is different, they were in love no, she was in love not Derrick, he is just playing with her heart, he wants nothing, nothing serious with her.

"Young Mistress!'

Ethan called as he pulled the door, they arrived at the beach house a few minutes ago, which is one of Calvin's properties but she was so lost in her thought, that she didn't notice. 

"Oh! Sorry, I will just alight."

"It's okay, young mistress, after you, I will get your bag." 

"Don't worry, I will do that myself." She wiped her face, looking through the rearview mirror, she could see how dejected her face looked, and she wiped her face, Derrick was not worth it. 

He is just a bastard, he will never get anything good in his life. Barbara pulled her bag lazily as she walked slowly into the lodge, she needed to be alone, locked up In a room, and cry out her eyes. As soon as she got to her suite, she fell on the bed, just for her face to be buried in the bed.

Somewhere in California, a young man sat lazily, showing no interest in what the two old men were talking about. 

This is one of the conversations that he hates to have, where family come together just to match their kids to gain publicity, power, and business and gain higher rank and status in the society not thinking if they are compatible. 

He doesn't believe in love since his girlfriend disappeared more than four years ago, he had no idea if she is alive or dead but all he knows, marriage should happen between two compatible people even though they are not In love. 

He had always succeeded in skipping this but today, let's say he is unfortunate. 

"Dante! What do you..."

His phone rang that same minute, making him stand on his feet.
