"Thanks for the meal."

"Don't mention it."

Silence filled the room again as they all ate breakfast.

"So, Lucas," his dad began, breaking the silence. "What exactly happened?"

Luke dropped his cutlery. He looked at Elena and then his dad.

"I was on my way back to Amigo after meeting a friend," Luke replied. "Then a dude attacked me and then...yeah."

Eyebrows were knitted, faces were scrunched.

"But why?" his mum asked. "Did you by any chance know that man? I mean, why were you kidnapped? Who has something against you?"

"Um...it's..." Luke stuttered, looking at Elena. "No, I have no idea who or why he did it."

"Oh?" she arched an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah," Luke replied. "Where's he now?"

"Probably in hell already," his mum said as she grabbed a cup. "H

Elena ran faster than her legs could carry her. She had been running since Kevin broke the good news to her- she ran to his car and now to June's room. She pressed the number in the elevator continuously making the other occupants stare at her weirdly. She couldn't care less as she impatiently waited for the elevator to arrive on the fourth floor. She pulled the door open, revealing June standing, gazing out of the window. "June!" She ran towards her, immediately pulling her into a hug. She hugged her tightly like she was scared she'd disappear. "I was so scared. I missed you so much. Why did you have to take the bullet? God, I was so worried." They held each other for a while before pulling away. "It's okay. I'm the one who's to be sorry." "You've said that so many times already," Elena said. "How are you?" "I'm fine," June groaned. • Buried Scars   CHAPTER ONE

Elena Harper let out a groan as she turned off the alarm clock by her bedside. "Dude, I need to sleep." "I'm sorry," she mumbled to her roommate as she grabbed her toothbrush. Reluctantly, she stood up, her eyes lazily scanning all her roommates still sleeping. Seven sleeping peaceful souls. Why did she have to attend a private school? She let out a final groan as she crawled towards the bathroom. Her eyes ran through the huge signage on the bathroom door. AMIGO. She smiled. Elena had been living at Amigo for as long as she could remember. Amigo was an orphanage. It was established decades ago by catholic sisters and had been active ever since. Elena hadn't really bothered about how she got to Amigo-her parents were probably dead or didn't want her like every other person at Amigo.

  • Buried Scars   CHAPTER TWO

Elena sat on her favourite chair at Amigo Garden right beside the waterfall. She picked the tiny pebbles around her throwing them into the waterfall, watching them drown. It had always been something that managed to take her mind off things temporarily. It was like watching her troubles drown with the stone. Her backpack was still hugging her tightly as she was still in her uniform. The day’s events kept on replaying in her mind.“Elena," Luke called out walking over. He was still in the outfit from earlier- dark blue jeans and a grey t-shirt except that he now had a black hoodie on too.She glanced at him as she sighed.“I...”“Shhh,” she shushed him as she placed her finger on his lips. “Don't. Please just don’t say anything.”He nodded as he slowly sat beside her. She mentally th

"What are you doing here?"Was she supposed to ask her? She didn't know what to say."I just came to wash my hands. I was about to go meet you in the cafeteria.""Oh," June flung her hands around her shoulders. "Okay, cool. Where have you been by the way?""Just the library. Um...who were you talking to you?" Elena slowly unrested her head from Lune's shoulder. She didn't want to think about anything. She didn't."True," she said. "My fairy head mother said it's true.""Oh My God, this is huge!" "How do they name children at Amigo?""Well, if the child previously had a name then that's what the child would be called. But if there's no name tag then they automatically give the child a name," he explained.True."Oh?""Yeah," he continu

The path that led to Amigo was a quiet one. Few cars, few houses, few people- making Amigo more peaceful. Ever since Elena was little, she'd always loved walking on the path to relieve stress. When she was younger, it was whenever she was displeased. Whenever she didn't like the meal cooked or had fought with a kid.She walked a little further, accompanied as usual by the ever fresh breeze, endless scattered leaves, and the tiny pebbles begging to be kicked around. She found herself in a nearby park. The screams and squeals of happy people messing with her headphones. She and June had been there once. They both got their faces painted over and over again and ended up looking like a character from the walking dead.Elena smiled at the memory as it quickly vanished as she almost jumped. She pulled off my headphones turning to see who tapped her.She turned to see Daniel looking as handsome as ever.

Elena winced. "Ow, my head," she groaned in pain as she looked around. Where was she? She looked around again. It was wide room with small windows covered by dirty curtains, making it suffocating. The paint on the wall was faded, different stains and marks plastered to it. There was a wooden table and chair at the corner of the room, several empty crates, bottles and cigarettes box laying carelessly around. It looked like an old abandoned room. She tried to move immediately realizing her hands were tied. She wiggled, trying to free her legs that were tied too. She tried to remember how she got there but instead her terrible headache reminded her of its presence. "Oh my God," she whispered on realizing what had happened to her. She was kidnapped!
