Chapter 8

Zach ended up in the hospital for a week after binge drinking and dealing with some stomach bleeding. Yet, I didn't bother visiting him at all.

I heard that while he was there, Sue popped in a few times to cause drama, but his bodyguards tossed her out every time.

The day Zach got out of the hospital, he came looking for me again. It had been exactly a month since Shawn had died.

I hadn't gone back home. I was staying at a small house I rented a while ago. Shawn and I had been hanging out there a lot ever since Sue returned to the country.

Zach opened the door and stood in the doorway, looking totally defeated. His shoulders drooped, and he just seemed so miserable.

"Celia, why didn't you come to see me?" he whispered.

I was just about to respond when someone suddenly barged in. Before I even realized what was happening, Zach pushed me hard, and I went tumbling to the ground.

A hissing sound filled the air as a thick liquid splattered all over Zach's face. He screamed in agony.
