Chapter 6

Shawn's coffin rested on the edge of town, but in the end, Zach managed to find it.

During this time, he lost his appetite and desperately tried to find out where Shawn was through me. I stayed tight-lipped, but he still managed to show up at Shawn's funeral.

Shawn looked pale and tiny in the coffin. I had specifically asked the mortician to stitch up his severed hand, but the scar was still glaringly obvious.

"Now that you've seen him, you can go. After all, he's not really your son," I taunted him.

To my surprise, Zach went completely limp and collapsed to the ground. He held onto the edge of the coffin so tightly that his fingertips turned white from the strain.

"He only lost half his hand. How could he die from that?" Zach mumbled in shock.

Tears streamed down his cheeks. I had never seen him cry in all the years we were married. But now, his shoulders were shaking as he sobbed uncontrollably.
