Chapter 66

The chatter of loud conversations around me was dulled to a minimum, my focus was hazy on the meal in front of me. The delicious smell of roasted beef infiltrated my nostrils but for the first time, I didn't feel hungry.

I pushed the tray away with a sigh and rose to my feet. Cora frowned, putting down the spoon filled with soup and cocking her head to the side,

"What's wrong?" She asked.

My eyes instinctively flew over to the empty spot beside her, the spot that was meant for Paige. Another drawn-out sigh escaped my mouth and I shook my head,

"Not hungry."

The brunette beside me perked up at that, "Really?" I bobbed my head in agreement and she grinned, snatching my tray away, "Gee, thanks!"

I nodded again and with a quick wave at Cora, I skidded out of the dining hall. Ever since that night, which was two nights ago, Paige had been actively avoiding me and I had been doing the same. I didn't know what to say to her after finding out her secret,
