Chapter 72

Three days.

I'd spent an excruciatingly long three days inside this cold dark room with each day harder than the last. The nights were worse, there were no blankets available so I was left to curl up, shivering on the bed like a leaf. And the mosquitoes were the worse part,

They kept buzzing around my ears and I woke up each morning to find large red bumps all over my arms and legs. My nightmares returned with full force, the guards were complaining about how much I screamed and one threatened to cut off my tongue if I tried it again tonight,

I couldn't take it anymore. I was tired, hungry and extremely suffocated. I'd never seen myself as claustrophobic but if I spent another day inside this cell, I would slit my own throat.

"Excuse me," I weakly crooned to the female guard, "Excuse me?" I called louder and she stopped her pacing, eyes falling on me.

She cocked her head to the side, drawing near to the steel-barred doors. "What?"

I scratched at my throat, ignoring the tiny red marks
