Chapter 38

"Why were you reaching for my phone?"

I froze, starting wide-eyed at the frowning girl, she arched a brow and I coughed awkwardly,

"I-uh-I-" I faltered, racking my brain for an excuse, "I wanted to make my bed. I have to keep your phone elsewhere in order to do that."

She narrowed her eyes at me and I gulped, smiling warily. When she grinned, her shoulders lifting into a careless shrug, I exhaled in relief.

"That's fine," She said, and waved her phone around, "Why did you seem tense when I asked you the question, you can be so silly sometimes." She playful poked my cheeks and I laughed nervously.

I made quick work of arranging the bed and I slif into it, slipping the duvet over my frame. I watched as Paige resumed typing, her lips drawn into a small smile. Was nobody seeing what I was seeing?

I looked around, Bree was already asleep and Diana had her headphones back on, a book on hand. Cora was still focused on her laptop, her face drawn tight. I was the only person who noticed Paige
