Chapter 32: The Ares Effect

“I swear I will do my best to protect you. You are safe with me, Athena.”

My world stopped moving after I heard those words from Alpha Ares. Never did I imagine that he would say those, and of all men, why him? Why Alpha Ares?

I couldn't move my body, my mouth widened in all shock. No words came out of my mouth because I was speechless. I can't utter a word towards Alpha Ares but when I have already composed myself back, I decided to keep on going. I left him in his office without saying anything after what he said.

My legs were still trembling, while my heart kept pounding so fast. I know I am being disrespectful towards the alpha because I leave him without even telling him. I was just carried away by my emotions and just hoping he would not kill me tomorrow.

“Come on, Zenaida. You're supposed not to think of him.”
