Chapter 7

Cecilia was having more difficulty in breathing now. Soon, she started sweating, and her vision blurred.

"Bennett." Tears streamed down her cheeks as her limbs trembled uncontrollably. "Will you only let me go when I die?"

"Die?" Bennett leaned forward and pulled her toward him. "Layla, how could I bear to see you die?"

He was too strong for her to break free, and she felt utterly helpless. Clenching her jaw, she decided to give it her all and slapped the syringe he held to the floor.

"I have more of those. Do as you please!"

Bennett felt his anger burning within him. He single-handedly dragged her off the bed and pressed down on her with his knee. Then, he grabbed her by the chin with one hand as he grabbed another dose of medicine with the other. He adeptly prepared the injection even though he was using only one hand.

"You'd better stay put. You won't be able to meet your beloved brother again if the needle misses its mark!" he whispered into her ear.
