98: The Final Hearing

Avery’s POV

A week later it was the day of the final hearing, my heartbeat was fast although the last few days had been crazily great. My phone kept ringing non-stop, strangers kept calling my phone affirming that they would testify openly in court.

The last hearing we had two days ago was a disaster for Liam as he kept trying to cook up more lies, but the Judge silenced him and his lawyer.

Strangers who saw how he treated me terribly in public promised to tell the truth in court before the judge. Lisa and Derby fled but were apprehended by detectives before they could leave the country.

I was both eager and nervous to hear the Judge’s final ruling. Suddenly, there was a soft knock on my door, “I will be out in a few minutes.” I yelled from the shower.
