38: A Soul Revived

Avery’s POV

“My lady, don't feel sad about it. I'm certain Sir Liam did not mean it that way, he would come around. Let's prepare the dining table.” Maria said to cheer me up, but it was of no use.

Liam has a way of reminding me that I was a nobody to him, it hurts.

Every time he does that I feel like a part of me is stolen away, now I sense that my life is coming back together to the original form he tossed it back into the garbage can.

“It's fine Maria, Liam won’t eat from the food I prepared. But you can share it among the domestic staff if there are any leftovers, let’s eat.” I stated calmly.

Maria declined immediately, “No, my Lady, it is wrong for me to eat with my employers on the dining table. Pardon me, but I'm certain Sir Liam would change his mind if I convinced him.”

Sighing, I slowly massaged my forehead, “Yes you can go, I would just sit here and wait for you to convince Liam.” Maria turned around abruptly, walking away from the dining room.
