Chapter 18

Hearing Ethan’s stern tone, Lena knew he was upset again. However, she did not know what exactly got him worked up this time. They crossed the intersection.

"I can get off here. It's just a short walk away," she quipped.

Ethan shot her a frosty glance.

"Why?"

"It wouldn't look good if people from the company saw us together!" Lena explained nervously.

If the company's employees saw her getting out of Ethan's passenger seat, it would stir up a huge commotion. She did not want to cause unnecessary misunderstandings.

Ethan scoffed. "You certainly think things through."

His sarcastic tone made Lena's breath hitch, still not understanding what she had done to upset him.

Ethan did not say a word. Instead, he parked the car by the roadside. Lena got out of the car as if she was making a run for it. Without saying anything to Ethan, she headed straight for the company.

Ethan unconsciously clenched his hand that was holding the steering wheel. She was scuttling away faster than a rabbit.
