Lena felt powerless in the face of it all. One should never lie, and she learned the lesson the hard way. One's memory would get all jumbled up when real events collided with untrue lies. Facing Ethan's sharp eyes and seeing his demand for an answer, Lena felt like crying. She took a deep breath and steeled herself. "Three times!"

Marcus was a highly intuitive person. He would ask the same question if he had suspicions. Cleaning up three times within two hours... Lena imagined it was enough of an answer. Or so she thought.

But Ethan's gaze on her became even more dangerous.

Lena felt a lump in her heart, question after question flashing past her mind: Had she made a mistake? Had he cross-examined Marcus before he came home? The top of her head tingled as she cursed herself for not admitting it earlier, and now she found herself at a dead end. She couldn't handle facing Ethan. Just as she was about to grit her teeth and take the guilty plea, Ethan let go of her chin.
