Ariella's POV
"Who do you think you are? Kiley, let me tell you, we're not afraid of you!" Erika was clearly enraged by Kiley. She pointed at Kiley's face, berating her with curses. Many passersby and diners turned their heads to look at us. "What's going on? Why are they arguing?" "We saw it all. It was this Kiley who first insulted these two ladies!" "Miss Kiley, if you're not going to eat, then get out! What are you making a fuss about here?" Many of the restaurant's patrons spoke up on behalf of Erika and me, showing their support. Some even took out their phones to take photos and record videos, eager to post Kiley's unreasonable behavior online. Kiley was incensed. She rushed over and snatched a diner's phone, smashing it to the ground with a violent throw. The phone was shattered, and the owner let out a scream of fright. Her actions only further incensed everyone present. "Ariella, you slut! It's all your fault!" She blamed all the accusations on me and charged forward to strike me. Erika stood in front of me, shielding me, but she couldn't block the slap that Kiley landed on my face. My cheek quickly swelled and turned red. The sharp pain that followed filled me with rage. I glared at Kiley, thinking of the smug look on her and Damien's faces that night, and I punched her hard in the face. Her earring was knocked off, scraping her cheek and leaving a gash that bled profusely, a terrifying sight. "Ah!" She screamed, her eyes blazing with fury. Kiley, like a bull, charged at me. "Ariella, I'll kill you!" This time, I didn't hide behind Erika; instead, I pulled her behind me. I was going to protect the one I loved, not just dodge. Just as I was about to fight Kiley, a man pulled me away. The familiar scent of pine brought me to the realization that it was Matthew. What was he doing here? Kiley missed and, unable to stop her momentum, fell face-first to the ground. She fell hard, breaking her nose. Her knees were also scraped and bleeding since she was wearing a skirt. Everyone pointed and laughed at her. "You deserved it! A woman like you should be beaten!" "Your nose looks like a botched plastic surgery! You're in trouble now!" Humiliated by the laughter of everyone around her, Kiley tried to crawl to her feet, covering her face as she made a dash for the exit. "Wait." Suddenly, Matthew spoke. Everyone, including Kiley, turned to look at Matthew. Matthew glanced coldly at Kiley and said, "You are forbidden from entering this place again. As the owner, I prohibit you from stepping into any of my establishments. I will inform the staff at these locations not to allow you in." Kiley broke down instantly. She fell to her knees before Matthew, clutching at his legs and pleading. "Alpha Matthew, you can't do this. I'm engaged to your nephew. Have you forgotten? I'm Kiley. I'm Damien's fiancée! We've met!" Matthew glanced at her, then kicked her away with disdain and disgust. "Get out of here. I don't care who you are. But you've reminded me. That Damien needs to be taught a lesson as well. If you don't leave, I'll tell Damien and his mother about this. Do you think they'll come after you then?" Kiley trembled violently. Her carefully styled hair was a mess, her face covered in dust and blood. She shakily got to her feet, her teeth grinding. She shot a hateful glance at me before storming off. The crowd dispersed, and the diners uploaded everything they had recorded, condemning Kiley's arrogance and despicable actions. "Alpha Matthew, I'm sorry I'm late." Parker's voice rang out. I turned to look at him and gave a slight nod as a gesture of politeness. "No worries, it's all taken care of. By the way, arrange for Miss Beverley and her friend to sit in the VIP room of this restaurant. The one I usually use would be fine." Upon hearing these words, the eyes of everyone around me filled with respect. Matthew was the Alpha of the currently most powerful Thorn Pack. Not only had he stood up for me, but he also arranged a room for me. Everyone thought that I must hold a high position to deserve such treatment from Matthew, and as a result, passing guests also bowed slightly in my direction as a sign of respect. Hearing Matthew's words, I was stunned. I waved my hands in protest. "There's no need, really. Alpha Matthew, I'm already extremely grateful for your help today. I can't accept you arranging a room for me and my friend." At this point, Parker stepped forward and said, "Miss Beverley, there's no need to be modest. This restaurant is just one of the many establishments under Alpha Matthew's ownership. A little favor like this is no big deal." He slightly nodded his chin towards my back, signaling the staff to lead Erika and me to the VIP room. Even the chef came out personally, bowing slightly and gesturing for us to proceed with a "please." "Miss Beverley, welcome to our restaurant. We apologize for the trouble earlier. We will immediately order our staff to post a notice at the entrance, banning Kiley from entering the restaurant. You can enjoy your meal with peace of mind." Feeling a bit overwhelmed, I had no choice but to follow them to the VIP room upstairs. Another group of people walked past me, and I saw Matthew heading towards a private elevator instead of the stairs. I silently marveled at Matthew's high status; he didn't even have to climb the stairs! But then, it was only natural. He was the Alpha of the esteemed Thorn Pack; how could he be compared to ordinary people like us? Soon, Erika and I arrived at the VIP room. As soon as she stepped inside, she exclaimed, "Ella, oh my god, this is so luxurious!" I looked around the room. Crystal chandeliers sparkled above, and directly in front of us was a floor-to-ceiling window facing the entire beach and coastline. It was sunset, and the brilliant hues of the sunset made the sky look like a shimmering silk scarf, leaving both Erika and me in awe as we stood in front of the window admiring the view. Shortly after, the food was served. Matthew had arranged for us to have the restaurant's top-tier meal, including beef, caviar, and some shellfish. Erika and I enjoyed the delicious food while taking in the scenery outside, having a great time. Erika recounted Kiley's embarrassing situation, laughing uncontrollably, which in turn made me laugh as well. However, it had been a long time since I had laughed so hard. After we finished our meal and had some desserts, we were about to leave when there was a knock at the door. "I apologize, Miss Beverley, could you step out for a moment? I have something to discuss with you." It was Parker. I furrowed my brow slightly, puzzled. At this moment, Erika gave me a meaningful look, pulled me closer, and whispered, "Go on, Ella. Beta Parker might be about to confess to you! I'll head out first. I'll bring you a sandwich for breakfast tomorrow." I nodded and watched her skip away happily. But what could Parker want with me?Ariella's POV"Alpha Matthew is drunk. Can I trouble you to take him home?"I had just reached the door when I heard Parker ask me respectfully.I was a bit puzzled. Why did Matthew need me to take him home when he was drunk? Didn't he have a private driver?Just as I was about to refuse, Parker, as if seeing through my thoughts, explained, "I apologize for the inconvenience, Miss Beverley. I have indeed had a bit too much to drink and can't drive. Alpha Matthew's private driver is on leave for a few days. I really can't find anyone else, so I had to ask you. You know how special Alpha Matthew's position is. Moreover, he's drunk now. If I were to just find someone to take him home, I'd be even more worried."After saying this, Parker swayed unsteadily, as if he were about to lose his balance at any moment. I had no choice but to nod and agree."Alright, give me the car keys. I'll make sure Alpha Matthew gets home safely."Parker was overjoyed and immediately handed me the car keys bef
Ariella's POV"I..."I stared blankly at my mother, afraid to reveal anything about what had happened between Matthew and me.She still didn't know that Damien and I had broken up, so I bit my lip, ready to lie and say that the person I was with last night was Damien.Suddenly, she asked me, "It was Damien, right?"I hurriedly looked up and nodded several times quickly. My mother nodded as if she had breathed a sigh of relief."Mom, I'm sorry. I'm studying medicine because I really love it. And, I want to refine my own medical skills, become stronger, and be able to protect you and Auntie. If I can, I will rebuild my father's pack..."My mother let out a deep sigh. She said, "Honey, it's not that I don't want you to study medicine. It's just that I think it's too hard. Also, I've heard from some older werewolves before that the female werewolf healers in our tribe couldn't have children because of long-term exposure to a certain herb. I don't want you to take that risk."I blinked, a
Ariella's POVJust as I was about to speak, I heard Kiley's voice outside the door."Darling, Ariella went too far! She just humiliated me in front of everyone and even slapped me!" She sobbed as she spoke, dragging Damien into view at the office door.Damien's eyes registered surprise when he saw me, followed by a hint of guilt. But what shocked him even more was that Matthew was here too, seemingly engaged in some conversation with me.He didn't suspect much, after all, Matthew's father was ill. Perhaps Matthew had come to inquire about his father's condition.Damien looked at me and said, "Ariella, you've gone too far. You shouldn't have slapped Kiley no matter what. She's my fiancée now, and besides, Kiley's health has never been very good. What if something happens to her?"I snorted coldly and looked at Damien. "What does her health have to do with me? And she was the one who provoked me first."Kiley started crying again, pulling on Damien and looking pitiful. "Damien, I didn'
Ariella's POVI started in surprise, bending slightly and using my hair to cover my face as best as I could.Damien shouldn't know it was me in the car; he could only make out the outline of a woman.Matthew immediately unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car."I'm not available right now. Take a taxi back by yourself."He looked at Damien, exuding an authoritative aura and a chill that demanded obedience.Damien hesitated for a moment, then glanced again at me sitting in the back seat. Curiosity got the better of him as he asked, "Uncle Matthew, where are you going? There's a woman in the back seat, isn't there? Who is she?"My heart was pounding, afraid that Matthew might tell him something. After hearing his question, Matthew hesitated for a moment but said nothing. Damien immediately seized the opportunity, his hand on the door handle."Aunt, if you won't say, I'll just see for myself!"The next second, the door was pulled open. I quickly covered my face, but it was too late
Ariella's POVI couldn't convince Erika. Over the next few days, she was in high spirits, dragging me around the streets to shop for the most beautiful dress to attend Damien and Kiley's engagement party."Ella, everyone will be amazed by your beauty! I promise!" she said with a glowing complexion, her eyes sparkling with confidence. As for me, I was exhausted from being pulled from one clothing store to another, my feet aching terribly."Erika, can we take a break? I see a café up ahead. How about we go in and sit down?" I asked."No! Ella, you need to cheer up.""Sweetie, I'm really too tired. This is the last store, okay? Let's shop and then go back home."Erika pouted and said, "Alright. Then we'll come back and shop tomorrow.""Deal."We entered a gown shop. It was a high-end boutique offering custom-made clothing, with exquisite and unique designs that came with hefty price tags.Erika was instantly captivated. She picked out a few dresses for me to try on, and if they fit, she
Ariella's POVThe clerk was extremely embarrassed and said, "But...""But what?" Kiley pressed. "I said I like this dress. Wrap it up for me."The clerk, trembling and red-faced, replied, "Miss Leavett, this dress isn't in your size..."At this, several clerks covered their mouths, trying to suppress their laughter. I sized up Kiley. She seemed to have put on a lot of weight recently, probably due to her pregnancy.Kiley's face turned red with anger, and she immediately stepped forward to slap the clerk and snatch the dress from her hand."Get out of the way! You insolent woman. I'm pregnant, did you know that? You're slandering a pregnant woman!"The clerk covered her face, crying as she ran off.At this point, the woman who had come with Kiley spoke up, "Kiley, don't be like that. This dress really isn't suitable for you. Look, that pink one is quite nice. Why don't you try that one? After all, you're Damien's bride, and you'll be the center of attention. Unlike some women, who only
Ariella's POVI pressed the answer key, and Matthew's voice came through the line."Ella."His voice was as melodious as ever, deep and resonant like the sound of a cello, utterly captivating.I took a deep breath and said, "Don't call me Ella. I have nothing to do with you."As soon as I finished speaking, I subconsciously clenched my fists. I hadn't realized the sadness and reluctance in my own tone, slightly trembling, but mostly resolute.A faint sigh seemed to come from the other end of the phone. Matthew said, "Did you receive those dresses? Do you like them?"I shook my head stubbornly and said, "I don't need you to send me these things. I'll find a way to pay you back as soon as possible."After saying those words, I hung up the phone, and my hand, still gripping it tightly, trembled slightly.Looking at the brand new phone, my heart ached involuntarily. What did Matthew really think of me? A mere plaything to be manipulated at will, or a sexual object to satisfy his desires?
Ariella's POVBefore long, we arrived at Damien and Kiley's engagement party at the Bayside Hotel. It seemed that Damien's parents had spent a lot of money this time, as they had chosen the most luxurious hotel in the area to host the engagement banquet for Damien and Kiley. As Erika drove up to the hotel entrance, a dedicated greeter came forward to welcome us. After confirming my invitation, he offered to park the car for us while we went inside.I looked around and saw luxury cars and guests dressed in extravagant gowns everywhere. However, as soon as I got out of the car, I instantly drew the attention of many."My goodness, who is that lady? She's so beautiful.""I don't know. Is she the daughter of an Alpha?""You go and chat with her to find out.""So beautiful."As Erika and I walked towards the hotel entrance, I heard countless whispers of admiration around me."Ella, now do you believe me? I wasn't exaggerating. You're so beautiful!" Erika said excitedly to me.I smiled and
