Dear Readers, I am so sorry that it has taken me this long to update. I apologise for keeping you waiting. From today, updates will be back to normal, regular. Thank you for being here and for your patience. Your author.
Denise woke up and stretched herself. She felt so well rested. She hadn't been this well rested in a long, loooong, time. In fact, she couldn't even remember ever feeling this well rested in her whole life. She then remembered that she had seen Ansel Winston. She laughed because clearly, it had been a dream. She chuckled again and... But wait.. This bed seems to be so soft compared to the hard ground where she sleeps."What happened yesterday? I came from the auditions, met Fey and.. Oooooooh, fuck me!"Denise opened her eyes and sat up with a start. She looked at herself and her clothes had been changed. She was wearing a white sleeping gown that was oh, so warm and soft. And the bed? The bed was huge. She looked like one small fish in a white ocean. These bed sheets and covers screamed 'expensive and soft'. The room was big. Bigger than even her parents', sorry uncle's, room back in the Ashford mansion. It didn't look odd even though it had minimal decorations. Just a flower vase at
She opened the door slowly, a small gap enough to peep. She peeped to see if anyone was on the other side. When she didn't see anyone, she smiled and opened it very very slowly and when she had opened it a big enough gap where she could fit, she placed her foot outside the door and then..."Why are you walking shoeless? Wear your shoes, the floor is usually very cold and we don't want you getting sick now, do we?" Ansel talked from inside the room and that gave Denise a big scare that she was startled and she turned abruptly and in doing that, she twisted her legs together and she fell. She would have fallen on her butt but a big strong arm was there to give her support and prevent her from embarrassing herself, yet again. "Why are you always falling? Is it a hobby, maybe?" Ansel asked but instead of irritation, his voice carried a hint of teasing.Denise wished that the ground could just open and swallow her to save her from the shame. "Big boss, I don't usually fall. It's you who's
Denise shot out of that building like it was on fire. She literally ran. She didn't care of what people would say or even if people looked at her. All she wanted was to get as far away as possible from Ansel Winston. She sighed in relief when she was no longer in the downtown part of the CBD and she walked quicklytowards the bust stop so that she could take a bus to Sava slums. After she got into her house, she was relieved as she knew, or should we say thought? As she thought that Ansel could never get to her. She promised herself that the next time she sees him, she would be a famous actress who had made a name for herself. Denise had a lot of hope for her future and a lot of that was so that she could prove to herself that she could do it and also prove to the Ashfords that she wasn't that feeble creature they always thought she was.She sat on her sleeping mat and started going through the events of yesterday with a smile.****At Imperial Corporation"Did you see where she went
Using the little money D had made the previous week, she woke up early the next day and went to the flea market. She needed to buy two things: 1 A few more presentable dresses and 2. Second hand books on and about acting. She got a few tops and dresses for around five hundred dahlias and one book from the second hand book stalls entitled: A to Z of Creating a Character. She decided that since she didn't have money for now to help her get into any kind of a performing arts school, then all she could do was teach herself. Good thing was that she was a fast learner and was sure that she could do it.She spent the next two days in her house teaching herself and practicing what she was reading. She learnt all the emotions and how to show them, how to cry at the snap of a finger, how to laugh as a sophisticated lady, how to be a seductress, a good housewife, a serious boss lady, a thief, a nun, an abandoned and homeless woman a bitch and all that. She acted out any character she saw descri
At the stipulated date and time, Denise was at the Diamond Studios eager to start her work. What she liked most was that they had been told that there would be an allowance for the two weeks of the workshop. Imagine that! An allowance for being taught how to become a good actress! It was like hitting the jackpot.Denise loved money. She knew that money made the world turn. She knew that if she wanted to be powerful enough and get people's respect (and top on this list were the Ashtons), she had to have money. She therefore was thrilled because this would be the first ever money she would earn doing what she loved: acting. After the time they had been given to be there was up, they were asked to board a bus. It had the familiar studio's logo and name. Others were already there and they were making conversation but Denise being Denise, didn't know how to make friends or small talk and she closed her eyes and started going through all she had learnt in the past several days. She wanted t
The next few days were 'adventurous' to say the least for Denise. She loved the way the company took care of them from food to sleeping arrangements, not talking about the way they were taught. Each day was filled with activities like morning exercises: they were to become actors and actresses and so had to keep fit, breakfast, then they would be taught how to behave during a shooting like approaching cameras from all angles, how to appear natural when acting, how to relate to each other and the crew and such. Then there would be that session where they would meet with fellow actors and actresses and create rapport so as to make it easier on them when the real acting starts, they also met the rest of the crew and a ton of other activities. No day was boring. The movie, 'Mechanics' had about thirty or so characters but the main were six. These consisted of the leader - a male and he was the brains of the team, Laura - the part Denise was to act - the thief, another lady - a grifter, a
We Are Not ThievesFreya seemed really worried and those who were not in on the secret, all felt bad for her. "I hope you find it. It's not easy losing a memento that you hold dear," one boy consoled and Denise thought if only you knew. She however didn't show it on her face. She kept a straight face as if she didn't know what was happening. They helped to look for it under the seats and everywhere Freya could have gone but it was nowhere to be found. Freya really looked sad and tears wouldn't stop falling."I will really feel guilty if something my grandma left me gets lost. And I don't even k kw what to tell my parents. They will kill me if I lost it," she said amidst sniffs and cries. Ooooh, poor Freya!"When did you say you last see it?" one of her minions asked and by now, she was shedding tears too for her friend."This one will make a very good actress. Too bad she was given a strong woman lead and not a weak woman. A weak woman would have fit her well," Denise thought with
When Denise was around fourteen years old, she remembers because it was four years after her grandfather's death, Georgina thought she could frame her by stealing her father's emergency cash that was always kept in a drawer in his office. That was a place even Georgina herself wasn't allowed in.Denise was busy cleaning as usual and this day, she noticed that Georgina kept going after her and because Denise wasn't born an idiot, she suspected something fishy was in the offing and she pretended that she hadn't realised that Georgina had been monitoring her every move. When Georgina was sure that Denise was in the kitchen very busy and wouldn't be getting out of there any time soon, she snuck upstairs into her father's study. What she didn't know was that Denise had followed her and since Georgina didn't expect anyone to know what she was upto, she didn't put her guard up. Denise saw her open her father's drawer and take out a bundle of notes and hid it in her bra.She hid behind a f
Denise looked at Mandy and wondered why and where all the hatred came from. She didn't know the other woman and she really didn't think that even if it was a grudge because of taking Ansel or humiliating her the other day, it warranted her asking her people to kill her."Why do you hate me so much first of all? Do we know each other from somewhere?" Denise asked Mandy because she thought all this crazy. How can one hate someone else out of their own delusions? It wasn't normal. But she needed to hear it from Mandy herself because maybe she had a reason."Do I have any reason to hate you? You took my man away from me. Isn't that reason enough? I hate your very guts!" Mandy said through gritted teeth but Denise just looked at her with pity in her eyes. Really? Did Mandy just call Ansel her man?"Has Ansel ever told you that he loves you or has he ever given you any reason to believe that he does? Has he ever behaved in a way to suggest that he mightwant you?" Denise asked her again,
Denise had known that marrying Ansel would come with its own troubles but she didn't expect it to come so soon. She should have expected that there were people who were in love with Ansel in his own home but she never suspected that any of them would go as far as trying to take her life. But it was okay, they were giving her the experience she needed to live in this world that she had found herself in. She loved Ansel and she was ready to fight for him… literally. She sat on the couch again but her heart was still aching. Every time she would look at the bag that had been holding the food she had bought for Ansel and then think of how these fools had eaten it, she would feel so bad that she would feel better after beating them again. This time, even the guy who had been shot was no exception. They were beaten so badly that they could not speak well because their lips were the sizes of sausages. On the other side of the town, Ansel was going mad as his people tried tracking that taxi
These men regretted underestimating Denise and taking her nonchalance as fear and helplessness. If they had known that she could handle a gun and she knew how to fight, they would have recruited more men or even dealt with her more ruthlessly and without delay. They sat on the floor in a line like obedient school children and faced her. She then sat back on the couch and bent her back a little, parted her legs and placed her elbows on her knees and looked at them the way one would look at children. She was like a mother teaching her children how to be good boys. She was dangling the gun before them and they seemed visibly scared until one decided to be brave. "Do you even know how to use that thing? Stop pretending! Our young miss told us that you are a nobody. So, stop pretending to be brave. Why don't we fight and see what you can do?" He said and she smiled at that. An eerily scary smile that had him regretting why he said that. "Okay," she said just that and pulled the tri

"So, you guys want to tell me who sent you?" She asked them, looking all nonchalant and they laughed. She looked at them like fools and made herself comfortable at that dusty couch. She even placed one leg on top of the other on the knee and looked all bossy. She didn't look like she was the kidnapee at all."Yeah, we will tell you once we deal with you. Our boss told us to do with you whatever we would and she would come to finish you. Don't worry, we threw your phone away and no one would be able to locate you. So, it's just you and us. You can stop pretending to be all brave. But don't worry, we love breaking the hard ones," one said and he touched his lower lip with his thumb seductively, maybe thinking about how he was going to deal with her."Our boss should have told us you are this beautiful. I swear I would have asked for less than what we demanded. I would have even done it for free. Wah! It has been long since l was with such a beauty," another said and they laughed at that
Denise and Ansel stayed in the suite for the better part of the afternoon and since Ansel wanted to drive her home but they had to let her sign out first, change from her uniform and board her taxi as usual. Then, Uncle Mike dropped her three blocks away from where Ansel picked her. They arrived home together and Denise has never been happier. When she first arrived in Ansel's house, she felt out of place. She felt like a stranger and it took her sometime to get used to the idea that this would be her home for a long time to come. But now, with the workers support and the love of Ansel, she always looked forward to getting home. She felt warmth in the house that she hadn't felt when she was growing up with her own people.Since she didn't have anything better to do the following day and she was staying away from the hotel because she was sure that Georgina would send people to investigate her, she decided to go to the mall to do some shopping and maybe later in the day, visit her hus
Georgina and her minions went back to the room and called room service. She wanted to bribe the girls with food and drinks so that they could stay with her as she tried to figure out a way to know who the person with Ansel was. She knew it was easy to control her friends as she always did using her money and their greed. Then, one if the girls had an epiphany. She knew that Georgina always loved flashing her wealth around and why not take advantage of that? "I know how you can find out who that was!" She said excitedly and the others were all ears. “You could just ask one of the people who work here," she said feeling all clever. "Have you forgotten that anyone who works for Imperial never talks? Even the little information I have on Ansel, I had to pay someone a lot of cash, they won't talk. I have tried prying information out of Imperial employees but they are so tight lipped,” Georgina said feeling all downcast. If it was about using cash to find out about Ansel, she
The best feeling in the world is to love and to be loved. When one has someone who loves them, that's the best feeling ever. For Denise, it was magical because she had literally never experienced any form of love from those she mostly wanted to be loved and appreciated by. The people she always thought were family. She always wanted to feel the love of a mother, a father, a sister or a brother but she never did. She always thought that she had a defect until she realised that the problem with them and not her. They always hated her and at one time, they made her think that she never deserved love. But that was the past and she was now here with a man who would do anything for her. From what she had seen so far, Ansel would move a mountain for her and it felt good. As she waited there, she found herself smiling at the memories they had made so far even though they hadn't been together for long. She had thought that all rich people were snobby but Ansel had proved that the
That night, both Denise and Ansel slept like they had never slept before. They were happy and Denise was grinning like a teenager in love, though she was, literally, a teenager in love. Denise was happy because this was the first time she kissed someone and she actually liked it.She could tell how much Ansel felt for her from that kiss. It was sweet and strange in a good way. She loved it and she loved this man more with each passing day.Ansel on the hand never knew that love could be this SweetThough he would have loved to have her that night, he didn't want to scare her this early. He knew he might be too forward or too rough and scare her into never making love to him ever again. That's why he didn't force anything and took care of his desire by himself. But he knew that he loved her more and more as he discovered how his body reacted to her.The fact that Denise made his body react in such a huge way made him love her even more and he knew that he had made the right call. He s
