"No worries," said Liam as he passed Caroline the menu.

"I haven't ordered anything. Please, take your pick."

Caroline ordered a few of the restaurant's specialty dishes and handed the menu back to Liam. After his order was taken, he gave the menu back to the waiter.

After the waiter was gone, Liam glanced at Jack, waiting for an introduction.

"This is Jack," Caroline said.

"He's no stranger to me."

Liam smiled. "I see. I have nothing to worry about anymore, then. How much are you willing to pay to take over Mackey Group?"

Caroline raised two fingers in the air, making Liam go pale instantly. "20 million dollars? You can't be serious."

"Why not?" She stared unblinkingly at him. He bunched up the tablecloth in his fist under the table.

"You said that you would buy the company at a price higher than the market value before this. Yet you're offering a price two-thirds lower than the market price now. You're being unreasonable."

Caroline took a sip from her drink and expla
