Chapter 545

At the hospital, Sean pushed open the door and walked into the ward.

He glanced at Caroline, who had her eyes closed as she lay on the hospital bed. Then, he looked at Kirk, who had sat vigil here all night.

Lastly, he exchanged a helpless glance with Charles.

"Has he been like this all night? Has he even closed his eyes?"

"Yes," Charles replied.

"But I heard from the doctor in charge that Caroline was given a sedative and will only wake up tomorrow. It's pointless for him to wait here."

"I told him that too," Charles said.

"But it's pointless. He insists that he has to stay here by the madam's side. He said something about needing the first person the madam sees when she wakes up to be him."

Sean let out a soft breath. "I get it. He only just got her back, and this happened."

"But he must have promised the Collins family that he would attend the banquet. Mr. Collins called me many times, asking when Mr. Morrison will leave … Do you think I should say he's not going?"
