Chapter 6: "The Faces of Jealousy"

YOSEF

“Hey! Are you listening to me?” someone spoke and interrupted my thoughts.

“Oh, I’m sorry Calli. What are you saying again?” I asked and turned to face her. A girl with an angelic face and pouty lips welcomed me. A smile formed on my lips. I’m surely enjoying what I’m seeing.

“You’re not listening to me Yosef! You’re spacing out.” She said turning her face away from me.

“Of course not, I just remembered something.” Yeah, I remembered something.

*Flashback*

Black Dragon. Number one agent of Dark Knight. JD. Get along well. The newcomer. The DJ. The patissier. Everything happened so fast. I can’t barely remember every detail of it. All I know is that, someone superior than me arrived. I know I shouldn’t be feeling this now but I can’t stop myself. I’m just human.

I’ve heard the name “Black Dragon” in every dangerous mission. All of them succeeded. I wasn’t even aware that he is younger than me. But now, upon knowing him, I know I felt jealous or envious of him. I know jealousy won’t help in the kind of job I have. Se7en always say, “Don’t allow jealousy to enter your heart and mind. It will become a monster that will devour and destroy you anytime.” I always tried to follow it though I know I don’t need it before because I’m the best of Dark Knight. But now that Black Dragon arrived, I dunno if I can still obey it. I sighed and glanced at him.

*End of Flashback*

“See, you’re really spacing out.” Calli said with difficulty, eating her words while speaking. Uh-oh, she’s already drunk. She also becomes noisy when drunk. I sighed.

“Come on Calli, I’ll take you home now.” I stood up and helped her stand up.

“I want to stay here longer. The music is great!” she said pushing my arm and pointing at the DJ. The DJ. Him. Black Dragon. JD. I frowned.

AIKON

The bottle of wine almost slips on my hand. I suddenly became out of focus for the first time. I looked up and saw the person responsible for it. “Black Dragon.” I shivered upon thinking of his name. I can’t believe he was him. The famous Black Dragon. The invincible. No mission failed. I sighed and was shocked when the bottle slips on my hand. Then someone catches it and spoke.

“Hyung, is there something wrong?” it was the twin that substituted me a while ago.

“Nothing Jheemo.” I quietly answered.

“You should rest for a while Aikon-hyung.  I will substitute you again. “ Jheemo said, determined.

Ah, this kid! I thought.

“Okay, okay.” I agreed and Jheemo takes my place. I however looked at Black Dragon again.

Hmmm… His outfit doesn’t give a hint that he’s like us. Maybe he really knows how to be a DJ. Cap, Beats headphone, jacket, baggy pants and high top shoes. He really looks like a music lover. The songs are great! I feel like dancing again. I smiled and unconsciously glanced at Yosef-hyung. My smile faded. I wonder what he feels right now. I sighed and watched his movements. I saw him hold Calli urging her to walk. But Calli pushed his arm. I become worried and stood up. Then I saw Calli pointed at JD. I saw Yosef–hyung’s expression.

“Uh-oh, this is a problem.” I slowly move towards them.

JD

I can’t stop myself from glancing at her. She’s really beautiful in my eyes. I’m aware that my smile stayed glued on my face. And every song I played came from my heart, for her, my goddess. Unconsciously, I played a song that I seldom listen to. The song, “Butterfly” by G-Dragon. I don’t know why but I felt this song suits her, even though I don’t know her. I don‘t know if it was just coincidence that I saw her twice this night or is it fate. I really want to know who she is. I sighed. This is the first time I spaced out that long. I looked at her again and froze.

Everyone on the floor was dancing with a partner, including her. The guy who talked to her a while ago is her partner. I felt a prick on my heart. I sighed. It’s no use to know her.  She already had a boyfriend. Oh well, I think it’s better to accept it now than to regret later. I take a last look at her and then focused on what I’m doing, but now, having a heavy heart.

YOSEF

I was chasing Calli as she was about to approach Black Dragon. I know I have to stop her before it’s too late. But before Calli reached him, a slow soft music filled the bar. Everyone grabbed a partner and I immediately pulled Calli closer to me. She looked at me and smiled. She can really make me calm down. I smiled back. Then I remembered Black Dragon. I looked sharply at him and was startled by his expression for the third time tonight. He looked dreamily into nothing and I’m sure he’s spacing out, a smile drawn on his face. Hmmm… Is he in love? I wonder to whom? The song continued playing and Bom and I sway in tune to it. Then I glanced at Black Dragon again. His face now is unreadable. The boyish smile on his face is now gone and was replaced by blank eyes and lips firmly closed. I’m amazed on how fast his mood and expression changed. And I wonder, what’s wrong with him?

IYAH

I was busily dancing when suddenly; a soft music entered my ears. I abruptly stopped and looked at DJ JD.

“A sudden love song? Why? Omo! Is he in love?! How lucky the girl is…” Then I noticed his smile. It was such a gentle sweet smile so I’m sure he’s thinking of the girl he loves. I sighed. Then Brent approached me, asking me to dance. I was feeling disappointed that I accepted his invitation. We dance in tune to the music and then I looked at DJ JD again and saw an expressionless face. I frowned. Now, why does his smile disappear? Omo! I’m really confused now… I wonder who that DJ JD really is… I’m sure Renzo-oppa knows him because he was the one who employed and introduced him to us. I don’t know why I felt I want or rather; I need to know who he is. Who is he?

3RD PERSON

Aikon was about to approach Yosef and Calli when suddenly, the music changed. He glanced at Black Dragon wondering why he suddenly played that song. He saw everyone with a partner and upon noticing he’s alone, he went back to the bar and sat down. He watches Jheemo do his job. But then he glanced at Yosef and Calli dancing sweetly and a sad smile appeared on his face.

“Phew… I thought a disaster would happen. I’m glad it hasn’t started because I don’t know if I’ll be able to stop it.” Aikon said to himself. He sighed. He also noticed Miko stopped what he’s doing and also stared at Black Dragon with a confused look on his eyes. Sean got out of the kitchen to witness what was happening. Aikon noticed he’s confused at first but suddenly smiled.

“Maybe he understood why Black Dragon acted like that. After all, they’re childhood friends.” Aikon continued talking to himself. He sighed again. “This was a very long night for all of us. Iyah’s debut, the commotion at the hotel and Black Dragon’s arrival. He really shook our world. I wonder if we will get along well. After all, we’re all going to see each other’s faces every day.” He thought and shook his head.
