Chapter 5: “The DJ”

“Oh my God.” I exclaimed as soon as Black Dragon stepped in front of us. I looked at him from head to toe and I can’t believe that he’s still young. I thought he was the same age as “Eclipse” and “Shadow”. And that I can call him, “Uncle BD”.
“Agents, this is Black Dragon, considered as the number one agent of “Dark Knight” in this era. He will be the DJ here in “Stargazer” and the patissier in “Polaris”. Other additional information will be given by him. I really hope you’ll get along well.”
No one reacted among us. I think my hyungs are still in shock too. I wonder what Yosef-hyung, I mean, Topgun thought. He was recently considered as the number one agent among us but now that Black Dragon arrived…
“If you’ll excuse me agents, I will go upstairs now and announced to the customers that we already had a DJ.” Renzo-hyung, I mean, Sir Se7en said before he approached his favorite chair and ascended upstairs. A long silence passed us five there. Then Black Dragon spoke.
“Hello. I’m Black Dragon of Dark Knight, 18. But just call me JD outside.” He said with a smirk. I gulped. He’s not even offering his hand for us to shake. He’s not even sharing anything more about himself. Just like that. His aura radiates confidence and no fear. But I can also sense a feeling of excitement and loneliness at the same time. I shook my head. It’s confusing. I sighed. Sean-hyung looked at me.
“Something wrong, Hawkeye?” he asked.
“Nothing, Mist.” I replied and looked back at Black Dragon. Again, he’s just looking at us waiting for a response. Then Yosef-hyung reacted.
“Topgun of Dark Knight, 20. Best in handling guns and ammunitions. Operations leader. Call me Yosef Advincula or just Yosef outside. Stargazer and Polaris’s supervisor. Welcome to our crew.” He said extending his hand to Black Dragon and he just accepts it, now with a smile on his face. I’m really confused. I thought. He then turned to me and asked.
“How about you, boy?” I was startled.
“Ahmm.. Hawkeye of Dark Knight, 17. Best in operating latest gadgets like surveillance cameras and computers. In charge of infiltrating systems of target enemies. Just call me Miko Chan or better yet, Miko outside. Stargazer’s maintenance leader and Polaris’s waiter. I’m so glad to meet you JD-hyung! Oh, I mean, Black Dragon.” I nervously said offering my hand to him. His smile widens and accepts it.
“You’re too young in this kind of job. You’ll still have many things to learn. Nice to meet you too, Miko. You can call me JD-hyung.” He said as we shake hands. Then he looked at Aikon-hyung.
He noticed it and said, “Grey of Dark Knight, 18. A black belter and master of martial arts. In charge of training new agents and expert in face to face fights. Aikon Advincula outside but just call me Aikon. I’m Stargazer’s bar tender and Polaris’s barista. Hope we can be friends.”
“Ai.” JD-hyung muttered as he nodded and shook his hand. Then finally, he turned to Sean-hyung with a smile I can’t explain. Sean-hyung spoke.
“Mist of Dark Knight, 18. Number one in handling arnis, chako and sword. The intelligence officer who has contacts anywhere you go. Sean Madrigal but call me Sean. Stargazer and Polaris’s cook.” He stopped and smiled. But instead of shaking his hand, JD-hyung pulled Sean-hyung in a hug as they both laughed and tapped each other’s back.
“It’s great to see you again Sean! Or shall I call you, Mist?” I saw JD-hyung laughed heartily while me, Aikon-hyung and Yosef-hyung just stared at them as they greet each other like old friends.
“Did you personally know each other?” Aikon-hyung asked Sean-hyung.
“Yes. He’s been my childhood friend. The ever-serious boy, JD.” Sean-hyung answered laughing. He turned to JD-hyung again and said, “How’s Mythi bro? You’ve been away for five years. That’s too long.”
“She’s okay. They are still in L.A. I don’t know if they’re going to visit here.” JD-hyung answered.
Mythi? Who is she? JD-hyung’s girlfriend or wife? Who are ‘they’? Questions keep on entering my mind.
“I hope they can visit here. I missed her.” Sean-hyung replied.
“Oh, you naughty Sean! I told you before not to make a move on Mythi! Come here and fight me!” JD-hyung exclaimed positioning himself on a fight stance. But before Sean-hyung could react, Yosef-hyung interrupted.
“I think we better go upstairs now. The Stargazer can’t function well with all of us missing in action.” JD-hyung straightened up and followed Yosef-hyung while the three of us go back to where we entered a while ago.

3RD PERSON
Renzo went outside his office and walked straight to the DJ’s booth. Everybody looked at him as he picked up a microphone and speak.
“Attention everyone! Sorry to disturb your partying but I have an announcement to make.” The four guys went back to their works while the newcomer walked near Renzo.
“It is known to all of you that Stargazer was open for a month now without having an official DJ. But now…” he paused to see everyone’s reactions. Ayla stepped beside her sister and looked at her boyfriend. Iyah looked nervous and excited for Renzo’s announcement.
“Due to my exquisite taste, it took a month for me to find a suitable man for the job. But now, I finally found him.” He smiled before he continued, “Fresh from L.A. and a music lover himself, I’m glad to introduce to you, the official DJ of Stargazer…” but before he finished, someone called him from his side. He looked at the person and nodded. “Let’s all welcome, DJ JD!”
JD stood beside Renzo and bowed to everyone. They were all silent for a while then finally clapped their hands. The girls drooled over his handsome face while the boys took notice of his outfit. Iyah stared at him as he spoke.
“Hello everyone. I’m DJ JD. I’m not new in this kind of job because I’ve been a DJ in L.A. before and I hope you will appreciate me the way I am. Thank you.” Then he glanced at Iyah’s direction and she blushed.
“Okay everyone, let’s go party and enjoy the night! DJ JD set the stargazer on fire!” Renzo finally said before stepping down from the DJ’s booth. JD put his headphone on his ears, flicked switches in front of him and connected wires to the control and soon a catchy rocking dance beat reverberated inside the bar. JD nodded his head in tune to the music as everybody stood up and went to the dance floor. But Iyah just stared at him, mesmerized. Then Calli pulled her to the dance floor.

Finally, peace on earth! I mean, finally, I got a peace of mind! A couple of minutes passed and yet Brent kept on talking to me about nonsense things and I’m bored to death! Luckily someone called him. And now here I am, sipping my second cocktail and waiting for Calli when Renzo-oppa appeared on the DJ’s booth. We all looked at him as he picked up a microphone and was about to speak when I felt Calli beside me.
“What’s going on?” she whispered. I just shrugged.
“Attention everyone! Sorry to disturb your partying but I have an announcement to make.” Oppa said over the microphone.
“It is known to all of you that Stargazer was open for a month now without having an official DJ. But now…” he continued as I noticed Ayla-unnie beside me too. I felt nervous and excited at the same time as to what oppa will announce.

I wonder who’s the DJ… “Let’s all welcome, DJ JD!” I saw a man stood beside oppa and I think I recognized him. That cap, that jacket, baggy pants and high top shoes… the newcomer! Oh, so that’s why he went to oppa’s office a while ago… the DJ, or rather, DJ JD (what a weird name…) bowed to everyone and the crowd all turned quiet.
Suddenly, a round of applause was heard. Every girl drooled over him. (He’s really handsome, by the way.) While I heard the guys complimented his fashion taste. I stared at him and wonder why I want not to let my eyes leave his face.
“Hello everyone. I’m DJ JD. I’m not new in this kind of job because I’ve been a DJ in L.A. before and I hope you will appreciate me the way I am. Thank you.” Then he glanced me and I felt myself blushed when our eyes met.
“Okay everyone, let’s go party and enjoy the night! DJ JD set the stargazer on fire!” Renzo-oppa said and stepped down the DJ’s booth. I watched as DJ JD put his headphone on his ears and set up things. Then I heard a catchy rocking dance beat echoed on the bar. I saw him nodded his head in tune to the song. I’m aware that everyone stood up and went to the dance floor. But for me, I just stared at him, not understanding what I’m feeling right now. I felt butterflies on my stomach and a lump on my throat. Then suddenly, Calli pulled me to dance.

JD
Being what I am, I’m aware that my goddess was staring at me. Honestly, this is the first time I felt nervous doing what I love to do. Usually, I enjoyed being the DJ without worrying if I make a mistake. But now, I want to show her where I am the best. Except for being an agent, of course. Then I saw, maybe her friend, grabbed her hand and pulled her to the dance floor. I noticed she was hesitant to dance at first but her friend encouraged her.
Soon, I saw her sexy body sway in tune to the music I played. Her beautiful curves clearly shown from the body hugging outfit she wore. I felt my heart stirred and that something below too. I shook my head to shake that thought away. I then noticed her smile it was so charming that I can stare at it all night long. Her short brown hair bouncing on her shoulders, the slight movements of her hands, her blinking eyes and her small pink luscious lips that I already tasted a while ago. She was so addicting to look at. I wonder what her name is. But then I thought I can just be friends with her. And it was clearly obvious why…

SEAN I woke up very early and went to the café. My house is near so I was able to go to work earlier than the others. Although I’m still sleepy because of being a cook on Stargazer every night, I was able to cook for Polaris every morning, simply because I love my work. When I love something, I will do everything for it. As I arrived at the café, I noticed that it was already open. Hmm… Is Renzo-hyung not tired of last night? He’s too early… I thought. Then the door opened and Miko emerged from it. “Sean-hyung! I’m earlier than you! Renzo-hyung said he will leave the responsibility of Polaris to us today. He and Ayla-noona went to Jeju Island for a one week vacation.” Miko explained all to me.” I wonder why. He seldom leaves the café to us, all by ourselves.” He continued caressing his chin. I smiled. If only you know Miko… It’s because he knows we’re safer now.

3RD PERSON As the clock strikes seven in the morning, there’s a commotion inside the café. Everyone is busy doing their jobs. The twins and Miko are busy bringing the customer’s orders to their tables. Sean is drenched in sweat in front of the stove. Aikon heated and reheated the coffee adding additional tastes to every cup. Yosef supervises everything while JD, well, JD impressed everyone on not being affected by pressure and skillfully manages to make enough bread, pastry and dessert for all the customers. He also continues to make his new recipe. While the customers are delighted to taste mouth-watering treats from the new patissier. JADEN We chose a table near the DJ booth. This is the first time Danny-hyung and I will DJ in front of a large crowd. I’m so nervous and excited at the same time! Like JD-hyung, we love music so much that we even formed a band. Danny-hyung is the drummer, Jun on bass guitar, David on lead vocals and I’m on the lead guitar.
