Jarren’s POV

I made my way down the hall and into my room, kicking the door closed behind me. I walked over and sat her down on the bed. I hadn’t been in my palace room in a while, but it was exactly how I’d left it.

“What was it?” I asked. I couldn’t see what it was Nunny was showing her; she wouldn’t allow me to see it like she had the others, but the fact that she didn’t want me to see was enough for me to put an end to it.

“You and Garret were fighting.” She continued when I stayed silent. “He wanted the throne. He wanted to be King. He was going to kill you,” she said in a whisper. “I couldn’t make the fire come; I couldn’t save you.&

“Hello, hummingbird.” Nona greeted as she opened the front door. I threw my arms around her neck and hugged her.“Hello, Nona.” I greeted with a smile after pulling away. “This is Jarren.” I introduced.“Well, hello there.” Nona greeted me with a smile.“Nice to meet you,” Jarren told her.“Come in, both of you.” We stepped inside the house and followed Nona to her living room. She took a seat in an armchair, and Jarren and I sat on the sofa.“Why aren’t you in school?” Nona asked.

Jillie’s POVAfter leaving the blacksmith that night he headed back home but stopped when his eyes landed on two men. Both with black hair. One was slightly taller than the other with brown eyes, while the shorter one had blue eyes. Again there was a flash before Abram’s eyes.He followed behind the two men silently. They stopped outside of the carpenter’s. One went inside, and the other one waited. Abram looked around and noticed there were only three other people making their way by on the sidewalk. After they’d passed, Abram made his way around the short man and pulled him in between the shops. The man grunted and tried to call for help, but Abram was blocking his windpipe. He snapped his neck with ease.

Jarren’s POVWe were on our way home, and Jillie was absolutely quiet. I knew what she’d heard from her grandmother had been a lot. Couple that with the things that she heard from Nunny and I, and her head must have been reeling.“You okay?”“Yeah, I’m fine,” she responded, leaning back in the seat.“I know it’s a lot to take in Piccolo.”“You have no idea. You can’t possibly imagine how confused, upset, and scared I am,” she whispered.“Yes, I can love,” I told her tapping my head.“Stay out of my head,” she mumbled.“I understand why you’re confused and upset. Why are you scared?”“Because I’ve seen movies, and I know that nothing good comes from things like this.”“Yes, but this isn’t a movie. So, you don’t know that.” I took her hand and mine. “You’re jumpi

Jillie’s POV I followed Scarlett into the kitchen, a bit apprehensive. What could she possibly want to talk to me about? Once alone in the kitchen, she took a seat at the kitchen table. I walked over and sat across from her. It was quiet until she spoke.“Listen, Jillie. I have to apologize to you for the way I acted toward you. It’s just that I have a certain reputation, and I really like Aaden.” I looked at her, stunned. Did I just step into the twilight zone? I just sat there staring at her because I honestly was at a loss for words.“I know you may find this hard to believe, but I’m not a total bitch.&rdqu

  • Bitten   63: A Day with Mom

Jillie’s POV I was happy the weekend was finally here. It felt as if I’d spent ten days in school this week instead of four. The teachers were definitely making up for us being out for winter break. I had an English paper due on the Great Gatsby Monday—a Science Lab test on Wednesday, and a History report due on the Great Depression Thursday. It was safe to say I was more than ready for school to be out. I made my way downstairs and into the living room. My mom was sitting on the couch watching TV. I flopped down beside her and tucked my feet under me.“Hey, Mommy.”

Jarren’s POV I climbed through her unlocked window and shut it back behind me, locking it. I’d told her about leaving that damn thing unlocked. I sat on her window seat and called her again. I’d been calling her for the past three hours. I’d just pushed send when I heard footsteps on the stairs. I immediately knew it was her. Her scent was one of a kind. I hung up as she walked through the door, putting the phone to her ear. She flipped on the light after noticing that I’d hung up and nearly dropped her phone. I could hear her heart beating a mile a minute as she took a deep breath and closed her door. She turned back toward me with her hand over her chest.&ldquo

  • Bitten   104: Bitten By Love

Jillie’s POV I took a deep breath. My hands were both shaking. I’d been avoiding this for two weeks now. It was too painful. I knelt in front of the headstone. Running my fingers over the engraved words, tears slowly ran down my cheeks. “Hey, Mal,” I stated through my tears. “I’m sorry I didn’t come sooner. I just couldn’t live with the guilt of knowing this happened because of me.” I stated quietly. “But the guilt I felt for leaving your funeral early and trying to stay away outweighed that.” I took another deep breath. “This sucks, Mal. This really is unfair. We were supposed to make up, and everything was supposed to get better between us. It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. Me sitting here crying my eyes out and talking to your headstone.” I paused for a minute. “We were supposed to do so much together. Go to college, get married, and have kids. Oh, speaking of kids, Alyx is pregnant. I know she wasn’t your favorite person, but I also know how much you like kids.”

I then looked around the room for Jillie. “Where did Jillie go?” I asked, panicking.“She and Kaileeh headed that way. I think there’s a door over there.” Garret stated.“Who screamed earlier?” I asked. I’d been so occupied that I hadn’t stopped to see who it was. I just knew it wasn’t Jillie. My eyes scanned the room until they landed on Mallory on the floor in a pool of blood. I then saw Mina on the floor as well. I shook my head. She was the only vampire I knew that could be easily

I glared at Xander before finally letting him go. I made my way over to the sitting area in the library.“Well, what did she see?”“She said she saw people, but they were more like shadows.”“Shado

Jarren’s POV I watched as she tossed and turned. There was absolutely nothing I could do for her. Reid had already given her a sedative, but it wasn’t working. What was happening to her? I heard her say my name a few times, but that was it. At first, I couldn’t make out the rest of what she was saying.“Jarren, stop it!” She screamed. I looked at everyone in the room, confused.“Stop what, Piccolo?” I asked, moving closer to the bed. I let out a hiss as pain ripped through my right side. What the hell was that? I lift my shirt slowly to see a wound. It looked like fire hit me. I could feel all eyes in th

Jarren's POVMaking my way through the trees, I ran nowhere in particular. Just trying to run my frustration out. I’d been moving for hours, running to the next city over and beyond before returning. I was still a bit agitated. I continued to run until I was outside Jillie’s house. It was after two in the morning. I knew she was sleeping, but I couldn’t stop myself from waking her. I pulled out my phone and hit her speed dial button. It rang five times before going to voicemail. I hung up and called again. This time she answered on the fourth ring.“Hello,” she answered groggily.“Come outside.”“Okay.” I could hear her moving around. “Give me a minute,” she stated before hanging up. I slipped my phone back into my pocket. I crossed my arms over my chest and leaned against the house. I couldn’t go inside for what I

Unknown POV It was all coming together now. Everything I’d worked so hard for the last hundred and fifty-plus years was coming true. It took me a while to get to this point, but the reward at the end would be well worth it. Rising from my seat, I made my way to the window. Looking out, I was met by the vast expanse of trees. Secluded and, at the same time, visible.“Brother.”“Have a seat. I have something I want you to do for me, sister.”“I’m listening.”“There’s a full moon Friday night. This is what I need you to do….”
