Jillie’s POV
Again before me appeared a scene just like before. This time I was inside of what looked like the palace. There were torches on the wall giving off light. If it weren’t for those, it would be pitch dark. I made my feet move and began down the hall. I then heard a slight whimper. I followed the sound and came to a door. Pushing it open slowly, I stepped inside.
I squinted into the room as the torches in the hall supplied the faintest of light. In the corner, scrunched into a small ball, was a girl. As I got closer, I noticed that girl was Kaileeh.
“Kailee
Jarren’s POV I made my way down the hall and into my room, kicking the door closed behind me. I walked over and sat her down on the bed. I hadn’t been in my palace room in a while, but it was exactly how I’d left it.“What was it?” I asked. I couldn’t see what it was Nunny was showing her; she wouldn’t allow me to see it like she had the others, but the fact that she didn’t want me to see was enough for me to put an end to it.“You and Garret were fighting.” She continued when I stayed silent. “He wanted the throne. He wanted to be King. He was going to kill you,” she said in a whisper. “I couldn’t make the fire come; I couldn’t save you.&
“Hello, hummingbird.” Nona greeted as she opened the front door. I threw my arms around her neck and hugged her.“Hello, Nona.” I greeted with a smile after pulling away. “This is Jarren.” I introduced.“Well, hello there.” Nona greeted me with a smile.“Nice to meet you,” Jarren told her.“Come in, both of you.” We stepped inside the house and followed Nona to her living room. She took a seat in an armchair, and Jarren and I sat on the sofa.“Why aren’t you in school?” Nona asked.
Jillie’s POVAfter leaving the blacksmith that night he headed back home but stopped when his eyes landed on two men. Both with black hair. One was slightly taller than the other with brown eyes, while the shorter one had blue eyes. Again there was a flash before Abram’s eyes.He followed behind the two men silently. They stopped outside of the carpenter’s. One went inside, and the other one waited. Abram looked around and noticed there were only three other people making their way by on the sidewalk. After they’d passed, Abram made his way around the short man and pulled him in between the shops. The man grunted and tried to call for help, but Abram was blocking his windpipe. He snapped his neck with ease.
Jarren’s POVWe were on our way home, and Jillie was absolutely quiet. I knew what she’d heard from her grandmother had been a lot. Couple that with the things that she heard from Nunny and I, and her head must have been reeling.“You okay?”“Yeah, I’m fine,” she responded, leaning back in the seat.“I know it’s a lot to take in Piccolo.”“You have no idea. You can’t possibly imagine how confused, upset, and scared I am,” she whispered.“Yes, I can love,” I told her tapping my head.“Stay out of my head,” she mumbled.“I understand why you’re confused and upset. Why are you scared?”“Because I’ve seen movies, and I know that nothing good comes from things like this.”“Yes, but this isn’t a movie. So, you don’t know that.” I took her hand and mine. “You’re jumpi
Jarren’s POVI sat in Chemistry, only half paying attention. I didn’t want to be back at school. I was just ready for it to end already. I looked over at Jillie, and she was texting.“Jilliannah, the answer?” Ms. Hollins asked.Jillie’s head snapped up from her phone. “Um…”*Molecular formula* I pushed into her thoughts.“Molecular formula,” she answered.“That’s correct.” Ms. Hollins stated before getting back to her lecture. Jillie turned to me and m
Jarren’s POV I pulled up to Jillie’s house a few minutes later. I rang the doorbell, and Teya answered the door with a bright smile. It seemed she was always in a good mood.“Hey, honey. Come on in,” she said, stepping aside for me to enter.“Hey Teya, how are you?”“I’m doing good, sweetie, and yourself?”“Ready for school to be out,” I responded, causing her to laugh.“That makes two of us.”“Hey, Jarren.” Ean greeted me when Teya and I entered
Jillie’s POV I followed Scarlett into the kitchen, a bit apprehensive. What could she possibly want to talk to me about? Once alone in the kitchen, she took a seat at the kitchen table. I walked over and sat across from her. It was quiet until she spoke.“Listen, Jillie. I have to apologize to you for the way I acted toward you. It’s just that I have a certain reputation, and I really like Aaden.” I looked at her, stunned. Did I just step into the twilight zone? I just sat there staring at her because I honestly was at a loss for words.“I know you may find this hard to believe, but I’m not a total bitch.&rdqu
Jillie’s POV I was happy the weekend was finally here. It felt as if I’d spent ten days in school this week instead of four. The teachers were definitely making up for us being out for winter break. I had an English paper due on the Great Gatsby Monday—a Science Lab test on Wednesday, and a History report due on the Great Depression Thursday. It was safe to say I was more than ready for school to be out. I made my way downstairs and into the living room. My mom was sitting on the couch watching TV. I flopped down beside her and tucked my feet under me.“Hey, Mommy.”
