THE BETRAYER’S STORY

Em’s, it’s not what you think," Sandy said in a quivering voice.

Emily stared at her with eyes so cold and empty that Sandy could have sworn they belonged to someone she had never met before; the person before her wasn't Emily anymore-she was a stranger.

“I hope you're happy" Emily said and quickly disappeared into the exhilarated crowd.

Sandy stood in shock for a moment, visibly stunned. "Hey, get yourself together," Ben's said as he grabbed her arms.Ben's voice trailed off as Sandy stared into space, lost in her thoughts about how it all began.

She had met Ben at a friend's birthday dinner, where she had spilled some wine on her white gown. He had offered her his suit jacket, and they instantly connected, engaging in a conversation that flowed effortlessly.

She remembered being so tired that she mumbled a thank you and went straight to bed. Ben, hoping to see her again, had left but didn't follow up, thinking it would be strange to show up without her contact information.

As a result, they never met again.

As the days passed back then, Emily talked about Ben constantly. Sandy could see that her friend was deeply in love and completely smitten.

She was eager to meet the man who had captured Emily's heart and hoped he was worthy of all her attention and affection. Little did she know, it was the same man she couldn't forget.

Emily was a sweetheart and a beautiful young woman. Sandy had always admired Emily's delicate, effortless beauty and sometimes wondered if guys saw her more as a soft beauty like Emily rather than as a "hot girl."

But as days go by, into weeks Sandy found herself getting a bit envious of Emily or so she thought, as all Emily seemed to talk about was Ben and how he loves her.

One faithful morning, Sandy had gone jogging along her usual route and she sprained her ankle. "Ouch! this hurts so bad" she said while stopping to properly inspect her ankle. "It doesn't seem so bad" she thought.

“Are you okay?" A deep masculine voice asked.

Sandy turned to look at the owner of the voice and she gasped in shock.

It was the handsome stranger at the party!. "Let's get that checked out" he said and signaled for her to sit on a bench nearby.

Sandy had a few glances at him as he held her ankle firmly, inspecting the cut. You're lucky, this isn't deep," he said, squinting as he continued to examine her injury. "Is home far from here? I could help you get home," he offered.

Sandy nodded in approval and he reached for her hands gently pulling her up as she winced in pain.

Ben observed her nice figure as she stood straight up and leaned on him. "She's hot" he thought and brushed off the thought with a smile. "No Ben, you have a girlfriend" he slightly cautioned himself.

All through the way to Sandy's home, they moved at a slow pace in silence. He wondered where he had seen Sandy before cause she seemed quite familiar.

“You don't remember me, do you?" Sandy's voice broke through his thoughts.

“I can't recall, you do look familiar, have we met" Ben replied.

“Sandy let out a chuckle and said "Tina's birthday party, you lent me your jacket, we had a conversation and you offered to take me home".

Ben's face broke into a look of recognition. “Sandy?" He asked. Sandy laughed and said "you actually remembered my name, can't say I do yours."

Ben smirked and replied "it's Ben, such a pleasant surprise" while staring at her face taking every little detail in.

“What are the odds I met my crush that night again and she's so beautiful" he thought. Sandy smiled and they walked in silence each with their thoughts.
