OUR SECOND MEETING

Emily pushed through the crowd blindly, her heart beating so loud she could have sworn she heard it above the music blasting from the speakers.

She pushed through the crowd, and out the doors into the busy streets. The lights and noise of the streets all seemed like a fever dream, she pinched herself in an effort to know if all this wasn't a dream.

She stood for a moment, her mind racing with so many thoughts.

And she stepped towards the busy road.

It all happened in a split second, her walking towards the cars moving at a high speed, the loud horns from the drivers and a firm grip on her arm pulling her back.

Someone pulled her in away from the busy road and she couldn't resist, instead she held onto the stranger and rested her head on his chest, holding in tears that were already filled in her eyes.

“Hey, you good?" A strong masculine voice asked.

She nodded while still holding on to him, in her head, this was a moment of weakness. She needed someone to comfort her or act as a distraction from the thoughts raging in her head.

Jeff looked down at the lady he had just saved, holding him tightly like she couldn't let go. He noticed the subtle shivers from her and proceeded to take his jacket off in an attempt to cover her for warmth but Emily wouldn't budge.

“Hey, let go for a minute so I could keep you warm with my jacket" he whispered.

She obliged and he took off his jacket and placed it around her, Emily knew she shouldn't be with a stranger at this ungodly hour or holding on to him so tightly.

Jeff stood at a sturdy height of six foot three and Emily few inches below him, her arms around him, eyes tightly shut and his arms around her holding her close. A passerby would assume they were a couple getting cozy, in that position.

Jeff wondered if he should call Walter, his driver and let her know he had to leave urgently but he couldn't shake off the fact, she felt vulnerable now and needed to be safe.

He wondered what could have left her shaken so much so that she had held onto the first person she saw. He decided to inform his driver to come pick them up so he could drop her safely at home before he headed back home.

“Hey, let's find somewhere to sit, I'd reach out to my driver now to come". “Please don't let me go" Emily cut him short with a whisper all while still holding on to him.

The street lights shone on her face and he could see her clearly. She was beautiful with soft features likened to that of an angel, her lips rose colored were beautifully plump, her eyes though shut he could tell they were beautiful.

“This is the unfriendly lady at the bar" he observed and his face broke into a slight frown as he remembered she was unreceptive and rude to him.

He had hoped to meet less people like her as the party progressed but their paths had crossed again.

“I won't let go" he replied.

He then held his arm around her waist and gestured to a bench nearby at an empty bustop. They were about five minutes away from the music festival venue or he would have led her in while they both wait for his driver.

While they sat in silence, Emily was seated upright staring into the busy streets, her eyes empty and sad. Jeff couldn't take his eyes off her and wondered if this was a good time to inquire about what had happened.
