THE BETRAYER’S STORY II

"Easy there" he said while slowly guiding her up the stairs into her apartment. They got to her apartment and he helped her to get seated and asked "Do you have a first aid kit?".

In the bathroom cupboard" she replied.

Ben gestured at the direction of the bathroom and she gave a nod of approval. He walked to the bathroom and grabbed a first aid kit from the cupboard and headed back to Sandy.

“Is that your usual route to jog?" He asked. "Uhum" Sandy grunted and winced in paid as he applied first aid.

“Almost done here, you're lucky I decided to go jogging there today. I usually take the other route by the river" He said.

Sandy watched him as he cleaned her cut and placed a bandage. The handsome stranger that she thought she dreamt and was a figment of her imagination was right here with her.

“All done" He said with a smile.

“Thank you" she replied. They had coffee and decided to have a conversation.

“So you seeing anyone currently?" Ben asked.

“No I'm single, you?" She replied. "No, I'm seeing no one currently" Ben lied.

In his head, he knew he had always thought about her. He couldn't bring himself to say yes, he loved Emily but this was the woman of his dreams. He had thought about her for weeks, but sadly she was a dream or so he thought.

Sandy smiled and that was the beginning of a beautiful romance and sadly the end of Emily's.

She remembered consoling Emily and offering to speak to Emily's boyfriend. Emily had agreed to convince Ben to come over for dinner in hopes Sandy could talk some sense into him.

Imagine Sandy's shock when she met him and he was the same man she had just started dating. She maintained her cool all through the evening but looked visibly troubled.

Ben on the other hand could never had imagined they were both friends, best of friends in fact.

He knew he had to stop seeing one of them and concluded Sandy had his heart.

He broke up with Emily later that night "my heart is troubled, know you are not to be blamed", Emily had cried so much that night and worse of all, Sandy was unreachable.

Sandy was oblivious of all that happened that evening, as she had gone home to get proper sleep and was woke up to the sad message Emily had left her at night.

“He broke up, Sandy. I'd never fall in love again" those were her very words and Sandy was heartbroken.

Ben had left tons of messages and missed calls for Sandy but she had blocked him because she couldn't betray her best friend.

She had made up her mind to tell Emily everything after the music festival, now Ben had showed up before she even got a chance to and he ruined everything.

Sandy pushed through the crowd and out the door in an effort to get to Emily, in hopes of giving an explanation to what she witnessed.

“Emily!" Sandy yelled out into the busy streets as she stepped out the door. "Hey, let's get you home" Ben came right out after her and said.

Sandy turned to look at him with tears filled eyes.

“She’s gone, Ben and it's all your fault" she yelled and used her hands to beat on his chest while sobbing uncontrollably.

“Hey, it's fine" Ben said in a whisper and held her close. "She's gone" Sandy mumbled and let him hold her close cause she felt weak in her knees.
