A dream come true

It was her first day at work and having arrived in Texas USA on a work visa after a series of virtual interviews .She hoped they would be pleased with her physical appearance. She stood across the old depreciated mirror which hung close to the wobbly bed of her newly rented apartment .She had managed to pay for a studying apartment which wasn’t her absolute cup of tea , but she had paid through her nose to be able to stay there.

She wore her 3c black hair falling to her shoulders , her hair has always been one of her favourite features .Her dad had married a white woman , she was the only child from her mum to her dad, but her dad remarried , giving her two more younger siblings .Though shje didn’t inherit much from her mums physical looks , not that she remembered much from what she really looked like, apart from the faded picture of her she still kept , but she couldn’t have been more contempt with the one she got .Her long curly black hair was an attraction for her .Or just maybe because she was coming from the part of the world where most women had 4c type of hair.

‘’Not bad ‘’ she thought as she appreciated her faintly done makeup .She was often described as pretty .Her graceful lips which every one seemed to notice .Men would say’’ I bet they are soft.’’

Full, rounded and little pinkish. She had an average nose, was never a point of attraction but she thought they were still perfect for her moderately arched brows and light brown eyes, A face most people called pretty in a brown skin not too dark or too light as she always felt quite unlike because she was never classified as light skinned or ebony black. She was just that girl. Some enlightened people also sometimes referred to her as caramel skinned . She was about 5.7ft tall.

She hoped her peach cooperate dress wasn’t too hugged to her body as it showed her very obvious curves .With breasts that were quite average , just slightly above average.

A perfect slender waist , which made her fiure quite obvious both from the frontal view and side view. She wondered why she never had tummy fat even though her life literally existed in the circle of junk food and chocolate flavoured anything!

Well, it was quite unfortunate that as of today her assessment wasn’t going to be based off looks it was that of on intellectual capability.

She grabbed a winter coat which hung by the chair in her room .She sat in the back seat of the taxi as she entertained her eyes with the beguiling view. She had never seen this much snow, matter of fact , she had never seen snow till few days ago. Sky scrapperes covered everywhere , there weren’t much of those back in her country , tall eye catchy buildings.

It was all a dream!

Definitely a dream come true!

The taxi made a stop at one of the diverse looking skyscraper , it was enormous , blown away , in awe of where she was likely to be working from now on .Not that she expected anything less! Ofcourse it was the Blazzer .The almighty Blazzer Tech company that manufactured all typoes of electronics.

We are here.

She heard the driver who seemed rather impatientsay.

Oh, yes. She responded as she reached for her purse , handing him a ten dollar bill before proceeding to depart from his car.Sh stared at the building which she couldn’t seem to decipher how tall it was. She walked towards the entrance just like everyone elese but unlike everyone else , she wasn’t looking so staeadfast or walking straight to where she was headed .Her gaze was simply everywhere and her pace a bit slow in other to buy time for her little survey.

She was new in the building which looked unreal, and way warmere than the outside , she felt like she was a videa game character because she was not used to such vast tech world .There were a good number of people in the building and they all seemed to be wearing quite a dinstinct perfume because they were all accompanied with some applaudable scents .All seemed really up and about , alike in a fancy way . She took the elevator , and all the information she needed for her new workplace was in the employment letter which was sent to her mail but no in a soft copy fomat .She was now faced with the receptionist whose mini work space occupied the centre of an all white hall that led to different units of the company .The reception area was graced withan abstract tree trunk like a cabin which shieleded the tall elegant blondie from the visitors.

She sat there like the furniture was delivered along side herself , the two complemented each other . She had informed the receptionist of her reason for being there that graceful morning . She lead her to the HR office,Mr Tyler.

She showed her to the secretary before leaving her to the middle aged woman , she looked good but she figured she was either in her early thirties or late thirties .She wasn’t sure , but it was either one of the two.

‘’Hello there, you must be the new girl, I’m lin and you are welcome to Blazzer electronics. The older lady spoke as she was trying to get trough to her boss on her telecom.

Hold on while I let Mr Tyler know you are here. She spoke with a little excitement in her voice .Like she had been waiting for her for God knows how long .And yes just like her name implied she was definitely originally fromAsia.

‘’Thank you ‘’Alicia responded with a smile as she noticed the woman smile back.

The office looked like those really big company offices back at home just a little more eloquent. She noticed a picture of the lady with a man which she could tell was her partner with two young boys standing ust before them in the picture.

‘’Hello, Ms Alicia is here’’ before hearing her say ‘’ok’’ after a couple of seconds .She dropped the call then proceeded with asking her to take the door just by her right.She went ahead doing as instructed .She walked into the semi large well set out work place, and filling the office was who she recognized as Mr.Tyler … She was a little familiar with him as she had interviewed severally via virtual by him.

She guessed he was in his early thirties . He then looked up before saying .

‘’Welcome to The Blazzer Miss Alicia.’’

Oh and you can have a seat.

She moved closer , pulling out one of the comfy looking chair , just across his table as she took a seat.

‘’I’m Tyler , but I’m sure you know that already.’’

‘’Iam the head of the human resource department which am also sure you are already aware of .’’ He was friendly and that was comforting for her.

‘’Now that you are here,Im believeing you are ready to resume . So what do you think so far?’’

She sat across this fine jovial man who wore a smile , with his brownish hair and warm bown eyes which sot his face peferctly.

She wondered what he meant by what she thought ? About him or about the company? He must have noticed her confused expression because he had rephrased the question.

‘’What do you think about the new working environment?’’

‘’Oh pretty fascinating ,I must say .Its beyond my expectations.’’

‘’I love it.’’

‘’Good.’’

He then immediately stood up.

‘’don’t everyone ? he spoke with a friendly faint smile as he made his way towards the exit.

You should come with me , let me show you to your desk.

They stepped into another office set p like that of his assistant with one being a little bit wider.

‘’This will be your office , you are working directly with the CeO. Well for now , he is not in town.

Which is quite an advantage to you as you must have mastered your role before he’s back. Which means you ahev to work with me before hes back.’’

‘’And around here , people would kill to work with me , so you are pretty lucky.’’ He said as he accompanied his sarcastic joke with a smile as she grinned before saying

.’’right.’’

‘’I will show you how not to piss off your new boss because he is always quite on edge.’’

She wondered what her always on edge boss would be like .Maybe clean and simple , or wait ….

‘’You can seat, get acquinted with your new work place .Im going to send some documents to your pc on everything you need to know about the job .Starting from tomorrow we hope you fully resume . But for now , educate yourself.

You will be made aware of everything you need to kno about your job description.

Is that clear?’’ he asked .

‘’Yes, yes sir, thank you.’’

‘’Okay, great .And you can lay off with the sir.’’

‘’Okay ,no sir’’ she said as they both laughed.

She placed her bag on the desk before walking across I to the chair.

‘’I think there is a locker under the table , Im sure your purse can fit in there.’’

‘’Oh thanks’’ She quickly grabbed her purse and proceeded to locate te locker which wasn’t hard to find .

‘’You get your self settled . Mrs lin will put you through with the most things you need to know.’’

Okay. She responded as she now walked out, shutting the door.

She settled down on the chair across the table .A bit excited about working with this man who seem rather very outgoing .It wasn’t up to thirty minutes before she noticed the file that was sent to her pc as she began to screen through it.

The next day was abit intense ,she had to carry out some actual assistant responsibilities of an assistant with Mrs Lin assisting when she experienced difficulties , then reporting back to Tyler .It was a dream come true kind of expereinece because she had always wondered how most machines and electronics were made . She counted herself lucky to be opportune to work where she could grasp knowledge about here fascinations .And its wit Blazzers having grown up with a couple of electronics from the company she quite understood how big they were. She sure didn’t know why they picked her, but she was atleast grateful it was her.

The next day followed like the day before .Her duties still lingered around fixing appointments , forwarding reports from other departments , bringing up coffee from Tyler when lin was not disposed excetra excetra.

She had enjoyed every bit of the previous weeks with Tyler having the right thing to say for every mood and for Lin acting like he mother figure to her making sure she ate when she was supposed , also driving her home when she could .She had met Lin’s boys and they were the most vibrant kids ever.

Just as amart as their mom, but abit more outgoing and all over the place.

She had gone for lunch when she over heard two ladies who she could recognize as employees of the company she worked for .They were whispereing about how they have missed seeing Mr.Charles Blazzer around .One also made comments about how she looked good eings about him .She had to rethink that last thought because ther were more than afew things about him from the pictures .

‘’You know he s low key a narcissist but I still want him .’’She heard one of the ladies say.

‘’More like high key, you know . But I wont mind .I actually applied for his assistant but Tyler had declined me the position .’’The second lady said as she brought out a mini mirror fixing her hair.

‘’I thought you guys were friends?’’

‘’yea….., it actually hurt more because I thought so too .’’She said that with an expression of disappointment on her face.

‘’The new girl must be lucky , she gets to breath the same air as Mr Charles Blazzer .’’

Alicia noticed that one of the ladies knew who she was and she preferred it that way . She quickly rounded off with her lunch and left the place.
