Brandon Ford stood up not minding Joanna Williams who was still standing. He walked towards the door and called Leo “Get Nathan to the mansion now he ordered.”
Nathan was his childhood friend, they grew up together before he became a medical doctor while he took over the Ford's group as the heir. He was about to step out of his office when he remembered that Joanna was still standing in his office, he turned back and said “if I step out now leaving you behind, you might remain trapped here till tomorrow.” Joanna Williams gave him a side glance before walking out of the office. Brandon Ford locked his office and took the elevator, as soon as the elevator opened, he stepped out and walked towards his car. He ordered his chauffeur to drive him to the mansion. Leo called Brandon Ford and told him that Nathan was already in the mansion and Addison was now okay. He heaved a sigh of relief after hearing that she was already okay. Strangely, he was worried about her. He had never been worried about any woman in his life apart from Madison Spark. “Just, who's this woman? And what secret does she have?” Brandon Ford mumbled. Soon, they got to the mansion and Nathan was waiting for him downstairs. He wondered who the woman was that had made Brandon leave his work to come home. “Where's she?” Brandon Ford demanded when he got into the mansion. “She's resting in her room upstairs”, Leo replied. “Hey dude! Who's she?” Was she the woman from that year?” Nathan asked him knowing that he wasn't going to reply to him. “Why did she pass out”? Brandon asked. “She was just emotionally stressed and needed enough time to rest. Nothing much.” Nathan replied. **** Joanna Williams arrived home with her eyes welled up. Her parents were surprised when she returned home in such a state. She had told them she was going to see Brandon Ford. They wondered what happened between them that had made Joanna Williams emotionally devastated. “What happened?” Emilia, Joanna's mother asked. Joanna explained what she encountered at Brandon's office to her parents with her eyes welled up. She asked her parents if her relationship with him was ever heading somewhere. They've been engaged for three years and he had never allowed her to get close to him. He had never taken her out. He doesn't call her except when she calls him and he hardly picks her calls. What kind of relationship was that? Thomas Williams, her father, asked her to be calm. He would have a word with his father. Brandon Ford has been engaged to his daughter and only she deserved him. **** Nathan had left the mansion after assuring Brandon that Addison was okay. Brandon Ford couldn't return back to the company so he decided to work from home. He went to his study and was busy with work on his computer when his phone suddenly rang. Seeing the name on the screen, he sneered coldly. It was his father and he knew why he was calling him. He answered it and his tone was cold, “Dad.” “What have you done to your fiancee, Joanna Williams?” Carl's Ford thundered, his voice was so loud that he had to move the phone away from his ear. He put the phone on the desk and turned on the speaker crossing his slender legs as he listened to what his father was saying. It's about time you get married to her, why are you still treating her like a piece of trash? When will you realize she's the perfect woman for you?” George Ford asked coldly. “Dad, we've been over this, I don't need you to find me the perfect woman,” Brandon replied, trying to suppress his anger. “Listen to me, you are the heir to the Ford's group and I need to make sure my son marries the perfect woman” George Ford thundered. Brandon Ford's voice trembles, his face flushed red in fury. “Oh, so suddenly, you care about me? You never care when you drove my mum away or when you sent me to the orphanage all by myself? I’m not marrying Joanna or whatever woman you want, I've gotten myself a wife and I don't care if you accept her or not. End of discussion.” Brandon Ford ended the call angrily. His relationship with his father had been bad since his father sent his mother away because of his mistress. She got hit by a truck after she was driven away by her husband. His father immediately sent him to the orphanage home after his mother's death. This was to save him from those trying to kill him but he thought his father sent him away because of his mistress. After he got to the orphanage, he found out that someone had paid the headmistress of the orphanage to kill him so he had to escape but he couldn't escape with Madison Spark. In order to find her in the future, he gave her the necklace which his mother had given to him with the initial letter of his name carved on it to her. It's been ten years and he's still yet to find her, it won't be easy for her to find him because all traces of his past had been erased. That was the price he had paid to become the heir to the Ford group. **** I woke up in the morning and remembered that today was Lara's birthday banquet. I got up and was ready to go to the bathroom when I heard a knock on my door. I turned back and walked towards the door. “Good morning Mrs Ford”, Wendy greeted. I quickly opened the door when I heard Wendy's voice. She was holding a branded bag and she gave it to me. “Mr Ford said you should wear this to the banquet today” Wendy smiled, handing the bag to me. I was stunned, I collected the bag and thanked Wendy. I locked the door and hurriedly opened the bag to see what's in it. What Brandon had picked for me to wear was a sky-blue embroidered long gown with a pair of high heels and a handbag. It was a tube-top dress with hand drawn floral designs with tiny diamonds that glittered on it. The lower part of the gown had a fishtail design. The dress was full of hand-embroidered patterns which made it so admirable. I was dazed that I wondered if Brandon really picked this dress for me.After putting on the dress, I looked at myself in the mirror and felt captivated for a moment. The dress brought out all my curves, I naturally had a good shape. I wore high heels and put on a set of jewelry that I brought out from my bag which made me more charming. I stepped out of my room and walked elegantly and delicately downstairs. Brandon was downstairs too busy with his phone but was stunned when he raised his head and saw the woman coming. He didn't expect me to look this gorgeous. He stood up and ordered his chauffeur to drive me to the banquet. He went to the company immediately. I arrived at the Smith's castle but was still sitting in the car. The entrance of the castle had been occupied by luxury cars. The Smith's family is also one great family in New York, so I had expected that a lot of important guests would be present at the banquet. There were dozens of media reporters present too. Annie Smith was seen at the red carpet holding hands with Daniel Wilson. Wav
Chapter 7Annie's eyes widened in disbelief. “What!?” her mouth drops open.Annie couldn't ignore the feeling that I'd somehow changed. She just couldn't lay her finger on what had changed about me. After all, she had grown up together with Addison and she had always been fighting for everything that was supposed to be hers but no matter what, Addison was always leaving some room for her. But this time, she could feel my hostile attitude towards her. She had no choice, she would have to do whatever I asked her to prove to the guests that she was sorry. “Forget it if you don't want to give up your shares, I'll let the law handle this,” I said, turning around to take my leave. Annie became scared when she heard the law. She wondered if I was going to sue her. She can't let this happen, it will be the end of her. She cursed under her breath. “No, no, sis! I've committed a grave offense to you, I will give up my shares even though it isn't enough to earn your forgiveness.” Annie said,
The airport was a chaos, filled with strange faces hustling and bustling with their luggages to reach their destinations while some were running with tearful eyes to the welcoming arms of their loved ones. Announcements reverberated over the PA system, while some travelers hurried through the terminals. Rows of seats filled with anxious passengers waiting for their flights. The scents of coffee and jet fuel filled the air. Outside, planes taxied on the tarmac under a clear blue sky, a complete opposite to the pain in my heavy heart. “Are you sure about this, Madison?” Nancy, my foster sister held my hands and asked me for the umpteenth time, her voice trembled and her eyelashes damp with tears. I patted her back comfortingly trying hard to fight back my own tears. “Nancy, darling, I've made my decision and there's no turning back. I really have to do this for Addison,” I whispered, the weight of my decision pressing heavily on my chest. Despite knowing my life and career is at s
Today marks the beginning of my new life, a life full of well arranged plans- plans made out of grief and the burning desire for revenge. I glared at the reflection of myself in the glass door of the luxurious restaurant, my heart pounding with fear. I looked so much like Addison Smith, whose identity I just assumed. Few weeks ago, I was still my real self, Madison Spark, a great designer whose dreams could not be crushed in a night. But fate has decided to play a brutal game. Losing my beloved twin sister left my uncrushable world and dreams shattered. With a deep breath to steady my nerves, I pulled down my simple yet elegant blue gown below my knees. I walked delicately into the restaurant where only the clinking of glasses and soft murmurs of people filled the air. My gaze fell on two people chatting merrily at a corner in the restaurant. I felt as though my heart was going to fall out of my chest, my legs became weak but I never planned on showing my weakness before them.
“Uhn…” my eyes widened with my eyebrows raised. I froze momentarily reflecting what I've just heard. It was just like an order from him, his voice was domineering. “Bu...t… B… I stammered, unable to find the right words. I don't even know this man and he wants me to marry him. Isn't that crazy? “Relax, I'm not attracted to you, it's just a contract marriage. I need a wife to avoid an arranged marriage with someone I do not love and you wanna get back at them, yeah? I will let you make use of my resources to have your revenge and we can get divorced after then. So it's a win-win.” He explained. “You are so calculative, who do you think you are?” I scoffed, regaining some of my composure. “I'm Brandon Ford.” He replied. “Brandon Ford? Isn't that the name of the Ford's group CEO?” I mumbled. “Yes, and you are?” He asked coldly. “M…Madison” I stammered. “Madison? I slept off without having dinner. I was so tired that I forgot that I didn't eat all day. Brandon Ford had come to check on me before going to bed, he saw that I was fast asleep and didn't want to interrupt my sleep, so he left. The rays of sunlight directly shone on my face, I wearily opened my eyes and saw that it was morning already. Soon, I heard a knock on the door “if you are awake, come to the dining for breakfast”, I heard the domineering voice and knew who it was immediately. “Why does he care?” I muttered. I had my bath and wore a simple dress. I went to the dining room and met Brandon Ford at the diner, almost having his breakfast. “Good morning Mr Brandon” I greeted. “Good Morning Miss Addison," Brandon Ford replied coldly. Just then, my phone rang and I picked my phone to see the caller, I hissed after seeing that it was Anna, Annie's grandma.
