Chapter 2

Today marks the beginning of my new life, a life full of well arranged plans- plans made out of grief and the burning desire for revenge.

I glared at the reflection of myself in the glass door of the luxurious restaurant, my heart pounding with fear. I looked so much like Addison Smith, whose identity I just assumed.

Few weeks ago, I was still my real self, Madison Spark, a great designer whose dreams could not be crushed in a night. But fate has decided to play a brutal game. Losing my beloved twin sister left my uncrushable world and dreams shattered.

With a deep breath to steady my nerves, I pulled down my simple yet elegant blue gown below my knees.

I walked delicately into the restaurant where only the clinking of glasses and soft murmurs of people filled the air.

My gaze fell on two people chatting merrily at a corner in the restaurant. I felt  as though my heart  was going to fall out of my chest, my legs became weak but I never planned on showing my weakness before them. These were the betrayers who caused Addison's death, Annie Smith - her foster sister and Daniel Wilson - her supposed fiance.

“Hi Addison! I'm glad you could come” Annie Smith said immediately she spotted me, a malicious smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

I picked a chair and sat in front of them. “I'm here, please get to the point” my eyes hardened and narrowed into slits as I glanced at the two betrayers right in front of me.

I knew they were up to no good when they asked to see me. I just came to see the kind of people I'd have to deal with in the future.

Annie smiled, pulling a document from her bag. “Sign these papers, Addison,” She said, sliding the papers across the table.

My eyes narrowed on the papers with my hands clenched into fists, my dark-blue eyes sparkled in anger. “Are you saying I should give up my part of father's shares?”

“Oh! Yes. It's the only way we can keep the company moving. You should know better Addison, after the scandal you caused. Were you expecting to still own a part of the company?” Annie  scoffed.

“So let me get this straight, you framed me, stole my fiance, ruined my reputation and you want me to give up my part of the company shares to you? You think you deserve it? What right do you even think you have to ask me to give up my shares to you?” I retorted.

“Addison, I have every right to ask you to give up your shares to me. Have you forgotten I'm Annie Smith? And you are just an adopted bitch who doesn't know where she belongs.” Annie Smith thundered, dissatisfaction written all over her face.

Was she expecting me to give up easily? Was my sister that weak that she might have just given up the shares to her already?

“Calm down sister” I scoffed. “Just so you know, I'd rather live on dirt than give you anything other than this loser of a boyfriend.” I said, averting my gaze to Daniel Wilson.

“Watch your words, you slut! You should be begging Daniel now. We all know how you spread your legs for any man who looks your way. You even slept with some of them a few days before your wedding with him. Why did you do that? Was it for money? Sweetheart, do you think this adopted bitch is more of a gold digger than a slut?” Annie laughed, giving me a deadly look.

My heart raced, a mix of anger and hurt swelling inside me. I could no longer suppress the  burning rage inside of me.

I raised my hand to slap Annie Smith, anger blazing in my eyes. Unfortunately, she dodged at the last second, and my hand struck a man  who was about to have his seat behind her.

He raised his head to look at who had dared to slap him. His eyes locked with mine, his face darkened and his hazel blue eyes were burning.

“Oh my God! I'm so… so so… sorry”, I stuttered and stumbled over my words.

I couldn't bring my face up to see the man whose demeanor was so cold and intimidating.

“Darling! angry that I came unannounced? His voice was smooth and soft as he averted his gaze from me to Annie and Daniel. “I  just thought you might be in trouble.” He gazed fiercely at Annie and Daniel with a killing intent.

My jaws dropped and my eyes widened  in disbelief as if a sudden jolt of electricity had coursed through my veins leaving me momentarily stunned.

“Darling?” Daniel and Annie Smith muttered, their entire body became impossibly still.

“Yes, that woman, the one you've been calling a slut and a gold digger is my future wife” the man said coldly, moving closer to me.

This man's appearance didn't look ordinary. He had a very powerful and domineering aura. He was young, handsome and more likely very wealthy. But he's not someone I know, how come he's helping me? I thought to myself.

I snapped out of my thoughts when he grabbed my wrist and headed towards the entrance of the restaurant.

As we got outside the restaurant, the cool breeze brushed against my face and gently played with my long brown hair sending soft strands dancing around my cheeks. I slowly withdrew my wrist from his grip.

“I'm so sorry for what happened today, I hope you can let it slide. But why did you do that? I mean I don't know you, but you told them I was your future wife” I asked curiously.

“How ungrateful” he scoffed. “Well,  it seems you will have to repay my favor since you don't know how to appreciate people.” He said, his forehead furrowed with deep lines.

He thought he had helped me and expected me to at least be grateful and not questioning him.

“Oh!... I'm sorry, I was just curious. Thanks for helping me today.” I slightly bowed my head and forced a smile.

“Too late.” He said coldly, his eyes steady and unexpressive.

What's wrong with this man? Why is he being unreasonable?

“If it's too late, then I'll just take my leave.” I turned around to leave but his cold voice stopped me in my tracks.

“What do you think you are doing?”

My heart pounded, and my legs felt like jelly. I turned around to face him, trembling “I'm going to my house, what do you think?” I said, trying to sound confident.

“I admire your confidence, leaving when you are indebted to me?” he muttered, showing no emotions on his face.

“Mr. Man, you want me to repay you? Sure I will, is this enough?” I asked, stretching out a stack of dollars which I took from my bag to him.

“No”, he giggled.

“Not enough? Do you need more? Then I will just add to it” I brought out another stack and stretched it to him.

“I don't need your money” He thundered.

“Then, what do you want? How can I repay you?” I asked, almost losing my temper.

“Marry me.” He replied.
