*AURORA*
[6 AM, pick me up at the airport.]
The sudden glow of my phone screen shattered the silence in the dark room. The piercing light startled me awake. Half-asleep, I rubbed my eyes and squinted at the abrupt message.
For a moment, my heart skipped a beat, and my fingers trembled slightly. That number, that tone—was it him? My husband, Lucien?
The airport? Was he coming back? The thought alone quickened my breath, as if an invisible hand had gripped my throat, leaving me momentarily unable to breathe.
Frantically, I reached for the bedside lamp. The warm yellow light dispelled some of the darkness but couldn't chase away the unease in my heart. I stared at the message, reading it over and over, as if I could see through the screen and glimpse the man behind those words.
Just then, my phone buzzed again. Another message appeared:
[Answer me, Aurora.]
It was him—it had to be. Who else would be so imperious, disregarding the fact that it was the middle of the night, a time when everyone else was lost in slumber, to demand I comply with his wishes?
Just like three years ago, when we were newlyweds, and he had left me without hesitation to go abroad. For three years, he had disappeared without a trace, leaving me to endure endless waiting and countless lonely nights. The memories surged like a tidal wave, threatening to drown me.
I should have been furious—any wife treated like this would have been. I should have called him immediately, shouting into the phone, unleashing all the pain and resentment that had built up over these three years.
But I didn't.
Tears blurred my vision, spilling over and obscuring the words on the screen. My fingers trembled as I typed my reply:
[Okay. Welcome home.]
I admit, in that moment, all the anger and bitterness dissolved. The love and longing I had buried deep within surfaced, growing uncontrollably. If he was willing to return, to be by my side again, then everything from the past—I was willing to forgive.

Lucien's grandfather and my grandfather were best friends.
Their relationship was close and even when they got married to their wives, and had children and grandchildren, the two families became closer.
From a very young age, I was told that I was the perfect match for Lucien.
When we were kids, we would play together, and even go on family vacations together. We were inseparable.
Up until now, those were precious memories.
In high school, Lucien would scare all the boys away from me, telling them I was his wife. Back then,I thought he was only joking but when we graduated from high school, he officially asked me to be his girlfriend.
Of course, I agreed, I had a fondness for him since we were kids and that fondness grew to be love.
Our families were ecstatic when they heard that we were dating.
Our parents said a wedding between the Sullivan and the Diaz would strengthen both families' businesses.
Lucien and I weren't together at that time because of business. We were together because we were in love.
That was until Carla came along.
I met Carla in my second year of college. She was a quiet girl who rarely spoke but when I got to know her, I thought she was nice and humble.
We clicked so well and we became best of friends. We told each other everything. There were literally no secrets between us.
Carla was from a poor background so I always tried to help her when I could. I wasn't helping her because I felt sorry for her. I helped her because I loved her as a friend and I didn't want her to suffer.
But little did I know that all that while, she had her eyes on Lucien.
When I accidentally found the text messages on her cellphone of her trying to get Lucien with different seductive words, she even sent seductive videos of her body to him.
I had felt incredibly betrayed and I ended our friendship.
I confronted Lucien about the texts Carla had been sending him and he assured me that he wasn't moved by her.
But just two months after that, he changed.
He was no longer the Lucien I had known since childhood. He became so cold to me, he told me he had fallen out of love with me.
I had asked if he found someone else, he said no, he just said he didn't want to be in a relationship with me anymore.
I was crushed.
I couldn't accept it.
I loved him so much and then I did something stupid.
I summoned our families and vowed to kill myself if they didn't make Lucien marry me.
Our families, especially his family were furious that Lucien wanted a breakup. They couldn't accept it.
And then they threatened and forced him to marry me. I thought when I got him to marry me, he'd rekindle his past feelings for me. I thought it might make him love me again.
On our wedding night, he said to me.
"I transferred abroad, I'll go finish my studies there. When I come back, maybe we'd finally be a normal couple again."
Even if I was in total despair, I still held onto his words.
I think he just needed three years to find himself and so, I decided to wait for him.
Even if the waiting was tough.
I just couldn't picture my life without him.
And now, the waiting was worth it.
He was coming home to me.
***
I couldn't sleep for the rest of the night.
And once the clock hit 3: am. I started to get dressed, wanting to look really beautiful for him.
At 5: am, I headed for the airport.
I waited, excitedly at the terminal.
Now, I can't worry about letting go of the Sullivans. They were literally all I had.
My heartbeat accelerated when I saw him riding a luggage, out of the terminal.
"Lucien." I waved my hand at him.
He saw me and then I watched as he looked to his side.
A woman walked up to him and held his hand.
I couldn't believe my eyes and my heart fell completely when she placed her hand on the small, visible bump on her belly, as if letting me know that she was pregnant.
It felt as if I had been hit by a car.
The most shocking part of all was that the woman was Carla.
Was I dreaming right now?
This has to be a nightmare. I have to wake up.
They both walked up to me.
"Lucien...How...what..."I was in so much shock to even make a complete sentence.
"Carla and I are together."He informed me, casually.
The words made me feel like a thousand bullet had shattered through my chest.
*AURORA*I gasped."Together? You're married to me!""I never wanted to. Or have you forgotten how you forced me to marry you?""You said...you said when you come back...you said we'd be together again? How could you do this to me? You were with her all this time?"This all felt so unreal.No.I turned to face Carla."How can you do this to me? You..."My friendship with her had come to an abrupt end due to her improper behavior toward Lucien. At the time, I was certain she had exited our lives for good. But now, I see they are two sides of the same coin!Carla, in her relentless pursuit of a life with Lucien, had schemed and manipulated to the utmost degree. What she called "great love" was, for me, a searing agony that cut to the bone.I turned to Lucien, tears streaming down my face, my voice trembling as I demanded, "Is this what you call your studies? Mastering the art of destroying a marriage?""Aurora, watch your tone!" he shot back, his voice cold and dismissive. "In today's wor
*AURORA*I stepped into a bar bathed in dim, sultry lighting and filled with the pulse of raucous music, my heart brimming with anticipation and inner conflict.Settling slowly onto a high stool at the bar, my hands unconsciously twisted together as my eyes cautiously scanned the room, weighing the potential "choices" around me.The dance floor was alive with a myriad of handsome men, their movements fluid and confident under the shifting lights.Yet, I couldn't help but feel out of place in this setting. How was I supposed to take the first step? Was I really expected to walk right up and bluntly ask someone if they'd like to sleep with me? My cheeks grew warm at the mere thought. How would the people around me react? Would they whisper behind my back, labeling me a shameless woman?I swallowed hard, my gaze dropping nervously to the untouched drink in front of me as if it could somehow offer me solace."You can do this, Aurora," I whispered to myself, trying to summon a shred of cou
*AURORA*I slowly shifted my gaze away from Damon, the man radiating a magnetic allure in front of me, and glanced at the phone vibrating incessantly in my hand. A storm of emotions churned within me.It was undeniable—anyone who laid eyes on Damon would be captivated by his unique charm. He looked like he had stepped straight out of a Greek myth, a modern-day Eros exuding temptation with every breath.By comparison, Lucien's image in my mind seemed dull, even laughable. Rationally, I knew I should ignore the call and focus entirely on the man before me, whose very presence made my pulse race.Hesitating briefly, I found the phone in my hand felt as heavy as lead.Damon, as though reading my thoughts, shrugged nonchalantly. That casual movement carried an air of carefree indifference. "If you want to answer it, then answer," he said. His voice cut through the silence like a sharp blade. Though his tone was cold and detached, I caught a flicker of disdain in his gaze. Was that disdain
*AURORA*But I didn't have the luxury of pondering the deeper meaning behind his words. I pushed him away forcefully, my determined gaze signaling him to let go of me.Frantically, I opened my bag and rummaged through it, finally pulling out a check for ten million.Feeling a bit guilty, I placed it on the bed and forced an awkward smile. "Thank you for taking the time. Consider this... payment for tonight."However, Damon's reaction caught me entirely off guard. He didn't show the gratitude or excitement I expected. Instead, a faint, almost mocking laugh escaped his lips. His gaze moved slowly from the check back to me, his eyes scrutinizing me like a peculiar object. His voice, cold and calm, cut through the tension: "This is your solution?"Despite his well-disguised disdain, I caught a subtle flicker of contempt in his tone.It made me question myself—had I done something wrong? How could someone who worked in a place like a bar remain indifferent to such a substantial amount of m
*AURORA*“Are you threatening me right now? How dare you use a divorce to threaten me? You think that would make me abandon Carla?!”I sighed, heavily.“On the contrary, I’m doing this to make you get together properly with Carla. You’re expecting a child with her now. The child is innocent so it shouldn’t suffer for anyone’s mistakes and decisions. I want the child to grow up in a normal healthy family. So we should get divorced and you should go marry Carla.” I advised. My fingers clenched around the steering wheel. It wasn’t easy saying these words but I believed that it was what I needed.I shouldn’t cling desperately to a man who doesn’t want me.I didn’t want to continue to spend the rest of my life inside an empty shell of a marriage.I met Lucien’s gaze in the rear view mirror, it was cold and stern.Shouldn’t he be happy? Wasn’t this what he had always wanted? He scoffed.”And you expect me to believe you really want a divorce. Aurora, you threatened to kill yourself I don’t m
*AURORA*I continued listening in on their conversation.“Grandpa, how can you comfortably do this to me! I am your grandson! Aurora isn’t even related to us. Her family doesn’t even care about her as much as you do! It is unfair!”“Rory was Miguel’s favorite grandchild.”Rory was my nickname and Miguel was my late grandfather.“From birth, we knew that you two belonged together. And how dare you bring up the issue of the Diaz against Rory. That family relationship have fallen apart since Miguel passed, Rory has nothing to do with it! If anything, you should cherish her more after all she had been through. How can you treat her so heartlessly? I just can’t understand it! You used to be so much in love with her…”“I fell out of love with her! People are allowed to do that. I am not the first man who has fallen out of love with a woman!” Lucien thundered.“Fine but remember, if you push through with the divorce, in fact the day you give up the identity of Aurora’s husband, that is the d
*AURORA*“Do not call her that!” Lucien scolded Fabiola.I watched as Fabiola eyed him and then she asked.“When are you going back? Why did you even come back, anyway? You should have remained abroad.”“If Lucien dares to leave again, he’ll stop being a member of this family. You and Aurora would share the Sullivan’s property equally.” Lucien’s father declared.I saw Fabiola clapped her hands, excitedly.“Did you hear that, Rory? You and I will be in charge. I’ve always known we’ll be great women and then we’ll have any man at our disposal.”“At such a young age, your mind is filled with bullshit! I know who you learnt it from though, such a shame.” Lucien spat.Everyone glared at him, including me.Grandpa Sullivan spoke.“Fabiola, we aren’t disowning your brother yet. We’d give him time to prove his worth. Lucien, you’ll go to the company tomorrow and take over the position of general manager.”“What a pity.”Fabiola let out, disappointedly.“Recently, our construction company isn’t
*AURORA*“I’m not spending the night here.” Lucien announced, indifferently.Alma slammed her cutlery on the table, angrily.“Where are you spending the night then? With that goblin? If you dare to leave the house, I’ll have someone get rid of her!”Lucien glared at his mother.”You wouldn’t dare!”“Try me.”I grimaced and continued to eat, watching the drama as entertainment.Even though I hated Carla and Lucien a lot, I didn’t wish any of them death.I just didn’t want to be around either of them ever again. However, I was still curious as to what Lucien could do for Carla though.***************Lucien and I had no choice but to retire to the same bedroom.I was sitting on the bed while he was at the balcony. He had been on the phone for almost an hour now.Since he was loud, I happened to know that he was talking to Carla and he apparently was begging her to forgive him for not being able to go to her tonight.Plus I could tell she was crying because he kept begging her not to cry.
*DAMON*I haven’t felt bad about having a big dick until tonight. When I saw the pain on her face. I realized that even if I badly wanted to fuck her, I should have made her super ready for me.I didn’t want her to feel any pain with me. The only thing I wanted her to feel was pleasure and that was why I hurriedly placed this order.I stared at it, glad that it arrived as fast as I had instructed. As I walked into my bedroom, I frowned, seeing Aurora putting her shirt on, she already had her panties on now.I hurried up to her.”What are you doing?”She looked away from me.I held her shoulders, forcing her to look at me.“What is it, Aurora?”“I’m going home.”I gasped.”You…after all that? You’re going to leave me like this?”I grabbed her hand, placing it on top of my very hard crotch. She shakily took her hand away.”You…you should call your other women.”Staring intently at her sad eyes, I realized what was happening. She felt I was disappointed. Why would she feel that way?Doesn’t
*AURORA*I gasped when he pulled back and swiftly carried me into his arms.I wrapped my arms around his neck as he walked, he ascended the stairs and opened a door.He placed me on the bed and hovered above me almost immediately. As much as I wanted to enjoy myself tonight, I wanted this to be an enjoyable experience for him as well. And so, I pushed him gently and made him lie on the bed.He stared at me with questioning eyes. I smiled and moved down his body.He didn’t stop me, instead he stared at me with a burning desire. He lifted up his hips as I pulled off his sweatpants and briefs. As that huge cock sprung free, my eyes dilated.I took a deep breath, summoning the courage to touch him. He must have been with so many women, I didn’t want to seem inexperienced to him.I curled my fingers around him.God, he was big and thick, hard and so hot against my palm.“What do you want,Mr Dumont?”I asked, teasily. He smiled down at me and that made me a bit bold to do this.“Tell it to me
Carla walked into the private room and up to Lucien who looked pissed beyond words.“Lucien, what did you say to Aurora? She looked devastated.”“I was tired of her acting like a saint. I told her I was aware of what she did that night.”Carla’s eyes dilated.”You…you promised me not to ever mention it to her.”“It’s high time she knows anyway! If you hadn’t sent me those pictures, I never would have found out how much of a horrible person she is.”“Still, I…she didn’t need to know. We’ve all moved on. There’s no need dwelling in the past.”Lucien held her hands.”We all moved on, except her. She keeps bullying you and for that reason, I am going to keep tormenting her. Carla, I think it’s high time you stop worrying about how she feels. Even back then, you told me not to ask her about that night because she had just lost her family and you didn’t want her to experience a terrible heartbreak if she finds out that I knew what she did. You care about her too much. It’s time you stop. She
*AURORA*“I’ve told you countlessly not to bully Carla. Why do you keep ignoring my words? Do you really want to see what I can do to you?”Lucien barked.I slowly sat on a sofa and admired my freshly done manicure.“What did I do this time?”“You intentionally ordered expensive meals so she wouldn’t be able to pay. How dare you embarrass her in front of those people?!”I was tired of defending myself.Since he was always going to think I was bullying her. Then that’s what he was going to hear.“Fine. I bullied her and I was so going to enjoy watching her make a fool out of herself. There! Are you happy?”“You’re despicable.”“No! The two of you are despicable. You two ruthlessly hurt me, you two made a fool out of me, you two crushed me as if I didn’t matter at all.”“You betrayed me first!”He thundered.” Stop acting like a saint when you cheated first!”I frowned.”I cheated first?”“What happened that night, Aurora?! What happened that night at the club close to our university? Will
The women in the room felt envious of Carla.“Awwn, that’s so sweet. He didn’t want to be separated from you.”Ava asked. “You really should introduce us to him. We need to see the man who loves you that much. Men like him are rare.”Carla smiled, sheepishly.”I will introduce him to you guys later when I get the chance.”Carla didn’t like how calm Aurora looked. From the moment she accepted that she was the news reporter Mr Dumont wanted even if she wasn’t so sure, she had been expecting Aurora to look a mess. But she still had that beautiful, calm look on her face.Even now that she was bragging about her boyfriend who was Aurora’s husband, Aurora still looked composed as if she didn’t care.Carla felt so upset. She wanted to see a pained look on Aurora’s face. The waiters came over and handed the ordering tablets to everyone.Carla handed a tablet to Aurora herself.“Aurora, order anything you want, it’s the least I can do for taking the prime-time position from you.”Carla greatly
*DAMON*I was puzzled just like how the others were around me on seeing that card. How did she get it?Even if she was from the Diaz family, and is currently married to the Sullivan family, there was still no way she would be eligible for this card.None of the members from both families were.“The only person I’ve seen with this card is Mr Dumont. It is very rare to see it with just anyone.”“Who exactly is this woman?”“There is no way she can be a lowly mistress.”“I’m so curious to know who she is.”Hearing those words, I felt a sense of satisfaction seeing that Aurora had restored her reputation all on her own.Anytime I think I couldn’t get any more fascinated by her, I get ten times more drawn to her.I watched as the manager led her away, while everyone stared at her with so much respect.I recalled her refusing my help.I didn’t mean to put her in an awkward situation. I was curious to see if she truly meant anything to her husband.I was genuinely pissed that he could deny h
*AURORA*“What sort of drama is this? There is a real and fake Mrs Sullivan?” That voice sounded in the air.I swallowed, recognizing his voice.Damon.I turned around to find him walking up to us.Today, he was dressed, casually in black sweatshirt and sweatpants.I wanted to lie and say he looked less attractive, I wanted to say he looked better only in suits but I had to admit, the man could look majestic in anything.“The polygamy is this city is interesting and it seems like both women don’t even know that they’re married to the same man.”People laughed but I frowned. He knows that I was the real Mrs Sullivan so why was he making a joke about this?I avoided Damon’s gaze, frankly because I hated being in this situation right now.I didn’t want to put up a fight about being Mrs Sullivan because Lucien wasn’t worth fighting for.But at the same time, I didn’t want to be labeled as a mistress.I glanced at Carla who was still looking nervous. After knowing how evil she could be, I
As Carla watched Aurora walk away, the expression on her face turned cold. From the very first day she met Aurora, she had been very jealous of her.She had wondered how someone could be so beautiful. Her jealousy increased when she found out that Aurora was from a rich family and also had a boyfriend who loved her, dearly. She wanted to be Aurora, she wished to have Aurora’s life and so she set out to seduce Lucien. When the public got to know that Aurora wasn’t a Diaz, it was as if the heavens was on her side. It had given her so much joy to see Aurora in pain. And so she made sure to take everything from Aurora, she wanted Aurora to fall so hard that she wouldn’t be able to get back up.In time, she’ll let Aurora know why she was doing this.***********Carla returned to her hostel’s suite to find Lucien already there.“Didn’t you say you were going home today?”Lucien walked over and hugged her from behind, then he gently rubbed her belly.“I missed you and the baby.”A trace of p
*AURORA*What I had wanted to do this year was try to win over my co-workers that didn’t like me.I had wanted to prove to them that I wasn’t someone who robbed Isobel of her life. I had wanted to prove to them that if I had the chance to choose, I’d never snatch someone’s life from them.I had wanted to make them understand that what happened wasn’t my fault. But I realized now that there was no need of trying to win them over. They might only end up finding more reasons to hate me so it wasn’t worth it.Being a news presenter had always been my dream since I was little, it was something I wanted to do, not just for the money but because I had a passion for it.I had a wide range of skills, Alma always said that I was special and that was why I was blessed with so many talents. So yes, with my talents, I had made enough money that could sustain me for the rest of my life.I even had annual dividends from QUEEN’s every year.Financially, I didn’t need to worry at all.I knew Carla was
