In the Basement

Liam tapped his fingers impatiently on his lap as the car took yet another turn in the outskirts of the city. It appeared Blake had gone through every trouble to take her far away.

“Liam calm down, I'm sure we'll find her safe and sound,” Mr. Vane said, tapping his shoulder comfortingly.

Liam nodded in gratitude, but he couldn't get rid of the anxiety he felt. “I pray so Sir, I pray so…” Liam replied, his thoughts wandering off.

“Come on, I think we're past the Sir line, just call me dad, I'm practically like your father,” Mr. Vane said, taking Liam by surprise as he looked at him with his eyes wide.

“Are you sure that's okay?” Liam asked, looking at him in confusion.

“Yes, son, it's okay, and no matter what, I know Kyla and the baby will be safe,” Mr. Vane said, smiling at him.

Liam froze beside him at his statement as he turned quickly to look at him, all his attention fixed on him.

“What did you say? What baby?” Liam asked, his eyes wide in shock.
