Chapter Thirty Two

"What happened?" Ezula asked, sensing that David needed to talk about it. "If you don't mind sharing, of course."

David took a deep breath. "My nanny died in her sleep peacefully the doctors say but I really wish she had died in a car accident instead." He said, his voice a little shaky. "I know it sounds awful, but I can't help but feel like it would have been karma if it happened like that."

"It's not awful." Ezula said, his voice reassuring. "It's just human. We all have these complex feelings about the people in our lives. Especially the ones who have hurt us."

"It's just... " David began, but then stopped feeling he'd say too much if he started now.

"It's okay if you don't want to talk about it right now." Ezula said, sensing that David was uncomfortable. "You don't have to share anything you don't want to."

"Thanks." David said, feeling a bit relieved. "I appreciate that. I'm just not ready yet."

"That's perfectly okay." Ezula said, a gentle smile on his face. "You can take
