The sun had gone down about a few hours ago. Alexandra now felt more calm as she sat down in the sand with her legs pulled close to her chest, Darius sat beside her and they both continued to stare at the ocean, throwing in small talks here and there and surprisingly laughing to jokes brought up by one another. It was like they had known each other more than four months, more like old high school class mates that were holding their reunion and the only thing that had been missing in their midst was chilled drinks and snacks to munch on while chatting away.Alexandra had just finished laughing to one of Darius’s dad jokes that she weirdly found funny when she remember the conversation they had shared while sharing her snacks back at the café close to her company. She didn’t know if it was the right time to speak of it, but was still curios.“So, how’s that dream of yours coming along?” She asked while tucking her hair behind her ear as the breeze consistently pushed it around.Darius t
Alexandra was an enigma. That much was clear to Darius. She was like a spirited away ghost that didn’t want anybody’s help in carrying out its vengeance. Scary at times but passionate and he respected that and some part of him also wished he had the type of passion and burning fire she did. Maybe then he’d have been able to see to it that his mother was brought to justice.Darius admired that about her and couldn’t help replaying the conversation they had held both now and the previous night as he typed in his door’s pass code and stepped in. As the security machine beeped behind him, the male took notice of the fact that there was another shoe at the door. He narrowed his eyes and stepped forward.“Quinn?” He called out and almost immediately a response came from the kitchen.“Yeah? You back?” The voice of his best friend was followed by the sound of culinary. She stepped out of the kitchen as Darius began pulling off his shoes. “You’re back early.” She eyed him. “Why?”“Am I not all
It was dark, void and cold. Darius stirred in his bed, grunting in the process as his nightmare played out.Once again, he was back in his mother’s rented apartment Eleven years ago. As usual, the dream played out like always. He argued with his mother, blamed his father and his mistress for him and his mother’s unfortunate predicament and slammed the door shut in her face, and yet again, regret filled him because of his once foolish actions.Night came as fast as it did in the real world and while all this happened, Darius was well aware, he just couldn’t do anything, fight back or speak the words he actually wanted to say. Unlike the him of eleven years ago, this version of him was different. He hadn’t stopped blaming his father for their unfortunate circumstance cause in reality he was the one whom had put them in that very position. More or less he was responsible for what had happened to Angelina. If only he had kept his heart and eyes glued on the beautiful woman, maybe then he
The due date to leave for Paris had arrived in a matter of days. Busy and occupied by work, Alexandra had barely noticed the days going by.Now seated in the back of her moving vehicle, the blonde quietly watched the buildings go by as they drove towards Lucien’s private marina. Her quiet serenity was interrupted the moment Michael spoke from the front seat. “Ms. Grey, could you please take a look at this?” He requested and passed his usual tablet to her.Alexandra hesitated before collecting it. It hadn’t been more than a week and a half since the accident yet he was already up and moving about like nothing had happened. When the doctors had told her that he was well and okay she hadn’t expect him to be ‘this’ well and okay. What was he, the freaking transformers?Alexandra shook her head and swiped the tablet open. She swiped her finger across the screen while looking at the document shown to her by Michael. It was one of the usual. Doubled taxes, increase in stocks and company inco
Alexandra was startled. She glanced at the roll of bowing employee with slightly widened eyes before glancing back in the direction of Lucien, their employer. The expression on his face told her he saw nothing wrong in the way his employees had welcomed her. But she did.Madam? She wasn’t their madam and there was no need for them to welcome her in such a grand style. The blonde glanced back at Lucien once more, waiting for him to say something before she did, but alas he simply remained quiet and returned her stare like this was an everyday occurrence. She sighed and internally groaned because of Lucien off-ish attitude nowadays. She wasn’t taking too likely to it and would make sure to inform him of this sometime during their sail. Until then, she needed to take care of this little mishap. She turned her attention back to the employees who were still bowing their heads and called out. “I appreciate all the effort every single one of you put into welcoming me, but I’d rather you not
An hour after departure, Alexandra was showed to her room. It was a luxury cabin decorated with all type of fine, expensive and exquisite furniture and a wide view of the water below to top it all off. The room definitely matched Alexandra taste and as soon as she had settled down in her room alone, the blonde got to work, flipping her laptop open and trying to get done whatever small work she could in other to busy herself.Obviously that turned out to be a bad idea as four hours later she began to feel the gravity of boat sickness setting in. Five hours into the sail and she was already sea sick, just how was she going to survive through the remaining two or three days?Thinking about the lengthy time span caused a groan to emit from her throat. But despite the little turbulence in her stomach, she wasn’t going back on her words and her believe stood firm. She was enjoying every second of the sail better than she would have the flight. At least she didn’t have to worry about snakes
The noise outside was loud and alarming. It took Alexandra less than a second to snap out of her sleepy haze and jump to her feet. She jogged towards her door and pulled it open, almost running straight into Michael whom had been rushing to her cabin.“What’s going on?” Alexandra demanded, her eyes following the figures that rushed by every now and then. Everyone seemed to be in some sort of panic, even Michael, yet she did not even know the head of what had transpired the past few hours. “I said what’s going on?” She asked again when Michael seemed a bit caught up with his words.“There’s been a problem in the captain’s deck.” The assistant finally managed to squeeze his words out.Immediately Alexandra caught wind of the word, expression fell. If it was anything concerning the captain then this trouble just might have been bigger than what she thought. A problem with the captain that was causing half the ship to panic was worse than being attacked by snakes. Well maybe not.“Shit.”
It felt like for the first few seconds after her realization, air spotted following through her lungs like she had almost forgotten how to breath and when she did remember how to breath, reality slapped her once more in the face. This had merely been a three days trip to the country of love-Paris, so how come they were sailing towards a doldrums, about to be stuck in its clutches for weeks, probably months. Oh boy, the thought of that was making snakes on a plane sound innocent.“Alexandra.” She heard the sound of her name and blinked. Suddenly, Lucien was standing in front of her with his hand resting gently on her shoulder. His face was now etched with double the amount of concern and someplace deep down; she knew she was the cause of the additional worry. “Don’t space out on my like that.” The redhead added while giving her shoulder a gently squeeze.Alexandra blinked her eyes again, still in somewhat of a daze. “Ah, yeah. Sorry.” She quickly gathered her thoughts and stepped back
