We said goodbye and I went the rest of my day feeling a lot better about the situation between me and Summer. Later she sent me a text about where we were gonna meet up, It's a good thing I looked at the restaurant before going otherwise I would have come in jeans.
I put on my green dress that suited my eyes and looked lovely with my chocolate brown curly hair. I got there a bit early and while I waiting I scrolled on my phone until I sensed Summer sat down at the table."Took you long enough." I said as I set my phone down, but when I looked up I saw Domenic sitting in front of me."First of all Summer has nothing to do with this, she is coming I just told her driver to take a few wrong turns. She wouldn't corner you like this." Stay calm Autumn, you already gave him the satisfaction of seeing you affected by his presence."She wouldn't, but obviously you would." I said as I took a sip of water, my throat suddenly felt as dry as a desert. He scratched his beard and tugged at his ear, it was a habit he had when we were dating. He always did that when he was overthinking."You look gorgeous Autumn, the years have suited you." Gorgeous, he always referred to me as gorgeous. "What do you want Mr.Davis?" His eyes slightly widened in shock."Mr.Davis? I think we know each other enough to leave such formalities aside." The audacity of this man. Just breathe Autumn, stay calm and drink wine. Crap I don't have any wine yet."I don't know you, Mr.Davis. I never did, the man I thought I knew never existed he was simply an illusion. One that was shattered in the most painful way. You Mr. Davis are simply a man who wants to buy my property, one I already made clear I had no intention of selling." Huhh water, water I need water. I gracefully emptied my glass.Domenic's eyes never left mine as he took a sip of water himself."I gave up on buying it the second I saw you, and besides Summer threatened to destroy my collectibles if I tried." I laughed, I didn't mean to, but I did. And he smiled. I imagined that from afar we looked like two normal people about to have dinner when the truth was so far from it."I wanted to thank you... for not telling Summer about... about what I did." He can't even say it."What makes you think I didn't?" I arched my eyebrow at him."Because Summer has no filter, and she does not lie. When she talked to me she did it like she always does, meaning she does not know."I can see it matters a lot to him what Summer thinks of him."I have to be honest with you. Since I saw you I haven't been able to stop thinking about you Autumn." I roll my eyes at him."I feel we have a lot to talk about, please have lunch with me tomorrow.""You really have the audacity to ask me to have lunch with you? Like we are old friends catching up, you have no shame." I grabbed my bag and got up just as Summer walked in, she looked mad."I'm so sorry I had nothing to do with this." She rushed to explain."It's ok, I know," I say as Domenic gets up."What is the matter with you Nicky?" Summer asked him."I'm leaving now, we'll talk tomorrow." He said it in a way it was unsure who he said it to. But it better not be me.The rest of the night Summer kept apologizing for her brother's intrusion while I reassured her it was fine as long it didn't happen again. But something I saw in Domenic's eyes told me that wouldn't be the case. The next day Summer and I went to yoga as usual, and then we had brunch before I had to return to the cafe. When I got there he was already waiting. Sitting in the back corner drinking coffee. When our eyes met he slowly put down the mug and then started to walk towards me. My stupid legs didn't listen when the brain said to run."What are you doing here Mr.Davis? I thought I made myself clear." I say as I mark the distance between us."I just want to talk to you Autumn." God, dig a hole and bury him in it."We have nothing to talk about Mr.Davis." I say as I make my way to the other side of the bar."Can you stop calling me Mr.Davis?" It irritates him, I like it."Will you just go have lunch with me?" He asked as he leaned over the bar. With the cafe door open and the wind blowing, the smell of his cologne traveled all the way to me."No, I won't Mr.Davis, now please leave my cafe. Don't make me call your sister." He smiled at that."I don't know how much you remember about me but I can be very persistent when I want something." Meaning???"Meaning?" I say as calmly as possible. He leaned over the bar and looked me straight in the eyes with determination."Meaning I won't give up. Meaning you will have me here every day until you say yes." And with that, Domenic grabbed his briefcase and left, but this was far from over. And so he came back the next day, and he asked me to lunch and I said no. He came the day after that, his question the same as was my answer. The third day he came Summer was here and he had a bump on his forehead. Apparently, she threw the TV remote at him.Today he didn't come, instead, he sent flowers. Orcuieds. The note said "Gorgeous! Lunch?" A man of few words."I know I promised I wouldn't interfere, but maybe if you say yes he will leave you alone. Besides it's a lunch, not a dinner date." Said Summer as she flipped the pages of the magazine."You are right." I say and she immediately looks up."You promised you'd stay out of it." I smiled at her."I know I just can't stand him anymore, he is driving me crazy." She says as a message comes to my phone."Did you like the flowers? Domenic.""You gave him my phone number?" I say as I put the phone in her face."No, he took it out of my phone. I swear."I text him back. "NO."Too subtle, maybe I needed to put an exclamation point.I tried to go by my days not thinking about him. But it wasn't easy. All of a sudden I even dreamed about him. The tipping point for me was when I came home to find a basket full of sweets I used to love, records of the music I used to listen to, a copy of my favorite book, and my old perfume. The rage suddenly grew inside my chest, my heart was beating like crazy while I took my phone and called Summer. "Where the hell is your brother?" "At this time he is at work, why?" She asked intrigued. "Just send me the address, I'll explain later. And don't tell him I'm coming." I grabbed the basket and made my way to his workplace. Apparently, Summer called and let the security know I was coming so they let me in. His secretary on the other hand wasn't so welcoming, but I pushed past her into his office. "I'm so sorry Mr.Davis I tried to stop her." She apologized. "It's alright Melody, you can leave." He said as he got up from his chair. Damn, why does he have to look so hot in that
Two weeks have passed and sure enough, Domenic has kept insisting on talking to me. He didn't come in person every time but the flowers have kept coming in every day."Dinner?" was the only thing written on the card today. The card I threw away and the flowers I gave to Ms, Robin, it would be a shame to throw them into the trash."Do you wanna do something tonight? See a movie or something?" I asked Summer."Ohh I can't tonight. I have a date?" She said happily."With whom?" I asked as I put down a cup and threw a rag on the counter."A guy I meet online." "Why are you meeting people online? You are Summer Davis Jones for God's sake, men are literally chasing you." I say in disbelief."That is because they are after the Davis Jones part, not the Summer part." I can't relate to that problem but I can understand."And this guy isn't?""Well, he is meeting Summer Danes, so…” Ohh I almost forgot about the last name trick she uses."Right, that word game you play with your last name. I h
We got to an old-looking building, just the look of it gave my mine skin goosebumps. Domenic got out of the car and turned to me."You stay here." He said."Don't be ridiculous." I said as I got out. "Second floor, third door on the left." Said Dominic's security guy and the rest of them, including Domenic and me started running up the stairs. All of a sudden I realized we were going into the place not knowing what was waiting for us in there. "Domenic stop, I know the time is of the essence but we should call the police first. You can't just barge in there, you can get hurt." I said as I unintentionally grabbed his hand."Summer could get hurt." I added."We already called the police Autumn, I'm just not waiting for them." Just as we were about to go in we heard Summer scream and Domenic's man kicked down the door. What I saw next made my blood freeze. Summer was on the ground, blood coming from her stomach as she tried to put pressure on it with her hands. Domenic's man jumped on
Early in the morning, I got up to check on the cafe, which was in perfect order. I don't know how Jess did it but she performed a miracle. I got Domenic's shirt out of the dryer and put it into a paper bag before going to the hospital. I got there just as a nurse was leaving Summer's room. "Good morning, how is she? Did she wake up?" I asked quickly. "She is doing great, she should wake up any moment now." The nurse told me. "Is it ok if I wait inside? I won't disturb her." "Of course, Mr. Davis gave instructions to let you in when you came." He did? "Is he here?" I asked as I looked through the window into Summer's room. "He just stepped out for a coffee. He stayed the whole night." He did. Of course he did. I thanked the nurse and went into the room. When I sat by her bed it occurred to me that I could have bought some flowers. Summer looked pale, her hair a bit tangled. I took her hand in mine and noticed her nails were broken, she must have fought with her assailant. Sudden
I saw him get into the elevator and I jumped in as the doors were about to close. I even surprised him. "Autumn, what are...""What the hell was that?" I interrupted him."What?" He said as he put his arm on the elevator wall next to my head. He was so close his smell surrounded me hazing my mind, but I had to push through it so I walked past him to the opposite wall."I thought we had an agreement, Domenic, we talked about this. We are not friends, one thing is us having to share the same space for Summer, and something completely different is the crap you just pulled off in there." Domenic licked his lips as he walked over to the control board and stopped the elevator."What are you doing?" I asked him as he began to walk towards me, caging me up against the wall with his hands."First of all, I don't remember agreeing to anything you said yesterday, as you recall I didn't say a word. But there is one thing you got right. We are not friends." Domenic said as he drew his body closer
Two weeks later I was standing in the one place I never imagined myself, Domenic's kitchen, trying to save the last piece of toast he just burned."I told you I would do it." I say to him as I try to fish out the toast from the toaster. Iv been coming to his penthouse to help him take care of Summer because she refused to get a nurse, and once I offered it's not like I could take it back. "It's a toast. How complicated could it be?" Said Domenic to which I just waved the burned toast in his face."Does anyone care that I don't even want the toast?" Summer yelled from the living room couch."Fine, I'll make you a smoothie bowl." I yelled back as I moved to the refrigerator and Domenic went to clean the counter. "You don't need to do it, I'll clean it later." I say as I put the fruit on the cutting board. He tossed the bread crumbs aside as he walked over to me from behind pinning my stomach onto the kitchen island as he prests himself against my ass."Since the first time you entered
I didn't come out until I heard the door close. With Summer asleep I decided to cook us dinner. From what Summer had told me, Domenic doesn't have a cook here or a maid. He takes care of everything by himself. This is probably why the fridge was empty, the drawer filled with take-out menus. Ohh yeah and the burned toast. With no other choice, I ordered some groceries and made the dinner by the time Summer woke up. I helped her to the living room. "Eating tomato soup on this white couch doesn't seem like a good idea Summer." I say as I give her the plater. "I just feel comfortable here, how about we put on a movie or something?" "Sure, just don't spill it because I'll be sleeping on it tonight." I say as I get the TV remote. "What movie?" I asked as I sat down next to her. "Whatever, just not horror." Noted. We settled down on a romance movie and ate our dinner, when I was finished I got up to take the plates. "You didn't eat much soup, you didn't like it.?" I asked as I saw he
Domenic got on his feet and went to turn off the alarm on my phone while I struggled to put on the bathrobe. "What are you doing here?" I say as I get up, fixing the robe down my legs. "Last I checked this was my room." He said as he fixed the waistband on his boxers. "You know what I mean, you are supposed to be on a trip. And besides how dare you lay in the same bed as me, not to mention kiss me." I wiped my mouth with my hand trying to shake the feeling of him on me. "I only did what you begged me to do." I did, my God he actually made me beg for him. "I thought it wasn't real, ok? I thought I was dreaming." I said as I went to grab my phone from his hands. But instead of taking it Domenic grabbed my hands and pulled me towards him locking me in place with his hands around my waist. "You often dream of me? He asked, but not in a mocking way, but rather in a gentle serious way. "Let go of me." I say as I struggle against him. "First answer me. Am I the man of your dreams?" He
