May sat in the living room, watching a movie, but her mind wasn't even focused on the movie because she couldn't stop thinking about Mike. Although she already told herself not to bother about him, and that there's also a huge chance that she might never get to see him again, but that's not even helping as she still find it difficult to get him out of her head.
"Focus, May. Focus!" She tapped her cheek, then she tried to focus on the movie she was watching.
She suddenly heard the door being opened and soon Anthony walked in. May immediately stood up to welcome him.
"Hey, you're back." She said with a smile. "How was work?"
"It was okay." Anthony replied, equally smiling. He's so stressed out from work, but seeing May was more than enough to make his stress go away. "I hope you weren't too bored being alone."
May shook her head. "Not really. In fact I..." She trailed off when she remembered that Anthony had warned her to stay away from Mike. Only God knows what he'll do if she dares to tell him that she had let the stranger into his home despite him warning her to be careful. She had thought of telling him what happened, but now she wouldn't dare to speak a word about that.
"You what?" Anthony questioned, furrowing his brow in confusion.
"I...I kept myself busy by doing other things, so I'm good.'' She smiled nervously.
"Good to hear that, I also have some good news."
"Really? But I think you should go freshen up first before telling me about it. I feel bad having you stand there when you've only just returned from work. I found some food stuffs in the fridge, and I was able to make something out of it, so I'll go set the table and we can talk when you return, okay?"
May kind gestures touched Anthony deeply. "You really shouldn't have bothered yourself, May. But I'm grateful that you thought of doing that."
"It's nothing, go get ready while I set up the table." May replied before rushing into the kitchen.
Anthony could only stare at her for a while before leaving as well.
A few moments later, they were now seated in the dining having a meal. The silence between them was a comfortable one, but then Anthony decides to speak and tell her about the good news because he's so damn sure that she would be happy about it.
"May." He called, his voice calm and soothing.
May hurriedly swallowed the food in her mouth before responding. "Yes?"
"About the good news, although I don't if you're going to like it, but it's about a job vacancy I saw."
May instantly adjusted herself in her seat when she heard the word 'job vacancy'
"A friend told me about a coffee shop that needs a waitress, so I decided to check it out, and I think the place is really nice, the pay is also good. I did talk to the manager about you and he says you can come in for the interview tomorrow, but it's okay if you don't want to do it, I'll just—"
"Are you kidding me!?" May exclaimed in excitement. "I would love to do it!" She said, bubbling with excitement.
"Really? You would love to work at the coffee shop?"
"Yes! Thank you so much, Anthony. This really is a good news for me, I just hope I'll get the job." She sighed deeply. "I didn't think I would get a job this soon, and it's all thanks to you." She said, her voice filled with so much gratitude.
"It's nothing, May, and I'm pretty sure you'll get the job, no one will be able to resist your charms." He winked at her, causing her to chuckle.
"Oh please, don't flatter me too much." May laughed briefly before putting on a serious expression. "I have an interview by tomorrow, and I'm not even prepared. I really don't have anything good to wear, what do I do, Anthony?" She asked, starting to panic.
"Er...you don't have to worry, May. I'll take you to get some new clothes before going for the interview."
"Really? What about your job? And I feel like I'm being a bother."
"You don't have to worry about me, I'll sort myself out, and you're not being a bother, okay?"
May heaved a deep breath. "I promise to pay you back."
"There's no need for that, May. You don't have to pay me back, so please don't say that because I feel hurt hearing those words."
"But—"
"No buts, you're not paying me back and that's it, okay?"
"Thank you so much, Anthony. I really don't know how I'll ever be able to repay you for your kindness."
"You can pay me by preparing good meals like this one. You really are a good cook and should consider opening your own restaurant one day." Anthony complement, then he took another bite from his food and moaned in satisfaction. "This is really good."
May chuckled softly. "I'm glad you love it, and you don't have to worry because I'll keep preparing good dishes for you for as long as I'm here." She replied.
While they continued eating their meal, they had a small conversation about other things, and when they were done eating, they both did the dishes before retiring to bed for the night.

"It's time to wake up, Mike....''
"May!" Mike woke up, breathing heavily. He looked around his surroundings in confusion. He was at a bar, and it's pretty much obvious that he'd spent the night here, he couldn't help but wonder what he was even doing there, and then it all came rushing to him; memories of yesterday.
When he had left May's home yesterday, he head straight to the bar because he just couldn't stop thinking about his late girlfriend and needed something to help take his mind off things. He did have a lot to drink that yesterday, but sleeping at the bar wasn't a part of his plan.
"You're finally awake." The bartender said as he walked in.
Mike ran his hand through his hair, letting out a deep sigh. "I'm really sorry if I had caused you any problem yesterday." He apologized. "I don't really remember much."
"It's fine, you're lucky I'm not evil." The bartender laughed. "I did try to wake you up yesterday, but you wouldn't budge, so I had to leave you here. I'm sorry I couldn't take you to somewhere better."
"I should be the one apologizing. I hope I didn't cause you much trouble."
"Nah, asides the fact that you kept on rambling about things I don't really understand, you didn't do anything else, and trust me when I say I've seen worse."
Mike chuckled softly and pulled out his wallet, extracting a thick wad of cash. He handed the bartender a generous tip. "For your troubles." He said with a smile, getting up from his chair.
The bartender's eyes widened as he counted the crisp, new bills. His face lit up with a stunned grin when he realized the enormity of the tip – a staggering thousand dollars!
"Thank you, sir!" The bartender yelled out, his voice filled with gratitude, as Mike turned to leave. The bartender's face glowed with excitement, reminiscent of someone who had just won the jackpot.
Mike got outside and was about getting into his car when he noticed something; he's just saw May and the guy she's staying with walk into the boutique that's opposite the bar.
Mike hesitated, torn between ignoring them and following his instincts. Despite his efforts to resist, he found himself drawn to May. Before he knew it, he was heading towards the boutique, his heart racing with anticipation.
As Mike pushed open the door, the bell above it rang out, announcing his arrival. His eyes swept the store, locking onto May as she browsed through the racks, her fingers trailing over the fabrics. Anthony stood beside her, his eyes scanning the store, oblivious to Mike's presence.Mike's heart skipped a beat as he froze, his feet rooted to the spot. He felt a rush of uncertainty, unsure of how to proceed. Should he approach them, or slip away unnoticed? The air seemed to thicken around him, heavy with anticipation, as he struggled to make a decision.Mike was still thinking of what to do when May suddenly turned and saw him. Mike's eyes widened when their gazes locked, and he instantly rushed out of the boutique."Er...I'll be back, just gimme a sec." May said to Anthony before rushing off, going after Mike.Luckily for her, Mike was still outside when she got there."Hey." She called, and Mike turned to face her. "It's you again." She smiled at him. "What brings you here? Don't tell
"He just annoys me so damn much, Adams." Mike complained bitterly. "I had to fight the urge to punch him right there."Adams looked at his friend and shook his head. "You seem to have too much time on your hands, Mike. You've recently taken over your parents company, and you should be working, not drinking at a bar and sleeping there, also fighting because of a woman, remember she's not May." Adams stated calmly."And who said I wasn't working? I'm really trying my best Adams, but it hasn't been easy, it's way different from when I was working with you. And I wasn't fighting anyone because of a woman." Mike defended."You only worked with me so as to gain experience and prepare yourself for this moment. It's not going to be easy, but I'm sure you've got this, and I'm always here to help you if you need anything." "Yeah, I know that." Mike replied, giving Adams a small thankful smile."So, with that said, I think you should focus on the company and leave that woman and her boyfriend a
Mike's car pulled up in front of Anthony's apartment, and Mike didn't waste any time in getting out of the car. Mike hastily came out as well.May was about going in, but Mike rushed to block her path. "I literally just saved your life but you won't even tell me goodnight before leaving." He shook his head in disappointment.May rolled her eyes hard at his words. "I already thanked you for saving me, now I have to tell you goodnight as well?""Yes." Mike replied.May scoffed. "That's too bad. I don't want you to have a goodnight, not when you're hell bent on ruining my friendship with Anthony!" She fumed."Oh, come on. Don't tell me you're still mad about that. I was only doing you a favor." Mike defended."I don't need your favor, Mike. I don't need anything from you, so please stop doing things that's only going to annoy me okay? I and Anthony have been friends for as long as I can remember, and I won't let you ruin that friendship for me, so please stay away from me. I never want t
Anthony was just dropping May off at work. "I'll be on time to pick you up, okay?" May smiled. "Sure, thank you and have a good day at work." She replied.Anthony was just leaving when a black car pulled up in front of the cafe and Mike stepped out of the car. A huge frown instantly appeared on Anthony's face, and he balled his fists in rage, the event of last night flashing through his mind, fueling his anger even more.Mike only smirked when he saw the expression on Anthony's face, he didn't say anything to either of them, rather he simply walked into the cafe."I should take a break from work today." Anthony said."Anthony! You're doing too much. I thought we both agreed that we're going to ignore him. You're not taking any break from work so you better start going or you'll be late. I can take care of myself." May replied. "It's not like he's going to do anything to me." She added."How did he even know you work here?" "It's just a coincidence. This is where he usually gets his
Anthony's hands stilled on the mop handle as an urgent knock echoed through his home. He hastily set aside his cleaning equipment and took a moment to survey the tidy room, nodding in satisfaction. With a deep breath, he hurried to the door and flung it open."May." Relief washed over him as he enveloped her in a warm hug, holding her close as if his life depended on it.May's composure crumbled, and she sobbed uncontrollably into Anthony's chest. He held her tight, his voice a soothing balm. "You're safe now, May. I've got you." He lovingly pats her hair, while constantly reassuring her that she was safe and no harm will come to her anymore. When May finally managed to calm down, he guided her inside, settling her onto the couch with a gentle nudge. "I'll get you some food and water. You're safe here."As he busied himself in the kitchen, May's whispered mantra drifted through the air: "I'm safe... no one can hurt me..." But her trembling belied her words. No matter what she says to
"Do you know me?" May asked with a confused expression, her voice bringing Mike out of his reverie."I'm sorry, what?" Mike replied, trying so hard to maintain his composure."You just called my name, so I'm asking if you know me." May replied softly."Y...Your name's May?" Mike asked, unable to believe his ears. "Yes, so do you know me? Because I've never seen you in my life, so I don't know how you know me.""I...I just..." Mike trailed, he doesn't even know where to start from. What kind of trick is fate playing on him? How can she not only look like May, but also have her name?May also couldn't tell, but there's something about the man standing in front of her that she just couldn't wrap her head around it.Mike could only stare at her, and she also couldn't resist staring back at him like all the answers would just come to her if she continues looking at him.Meanwhile, Anthony wasn't having any of it. Mike was drenched by the rain, and Adams couldn't believe that it was him standing in front of him."Mike, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be on the flight to London?" Adams questioned in surprise."Let me in first before the interrogation begins." Mike replied. "Right, I'm sorry." Adams stepped aside to let him in.When Alicia saw him, she also couldn't believe her eyes. "Mike! It really is you!" She hurriedly stood up and ran to hug him, not minding the fact that he was soaking wet. "Oh my God, I can't believe it's really you.""Let him go Alicia, he's wet." Adams pulled her away from him."H...how are you here? I really can't believe this." Alicia asked, smiling brightly."It's a long story." Mike heaved a deep breath. "I'm pretty sure we'll get to that, but first come get changed because I don't want you catching a cold." Adams said, then he walked upstairs while Mike trailed behind him."I'll be here waiting." Alicia yelled before returning to her seat.Adams took Mike t
