Danielle’s POV:
My father has been in and out of the house this week. He doesn’t tell me but I know he’s been out meeting Alpha Kaden, negotiating pack lands and pack assets. I could tell easily when he moves past me. One whiff of his scent and my wolf perks up in attention, salivating and wagging her tail for her mate. She has been howling insufferably in my ears, forming a pounding headache for the last hour.
‘Ok, that’s enough,’ I finally snap. ‘This is all your fault,’ ‘How is it mine?’ I ask, appalled my own wolf would blame me for something I did. Not that this is the first, still. ‘Did you have to be a bitch and reject our mate?’ she snarls. I roll my eyes. ‘And do you really have to be such a drama queen?’ ‘At least I had the brain to think through things, before randomly blurting out a rejection that could well damage our life!’ ‘Don’t tell me you’re still sulking over that. You know who he is. A guy like that? Nothing good will ever happen with us being mated to someone like him.’ She knows exactly what I was talking about. Months before this we have been bashing Alpha Kaden for his blatant arrogance towards women. He thinks he can have whoever he wants. ‘Face it. We can’t resist the mate bond. He’s right,’ she growls but I growl back. ‘He stole my virginity!’ I can’t believe my own wolf is siding up with that self-righteous bastard. All my life, I dreamed of having my first time in some place romantic, so it would be worth it when I finally give it to someone I loved. Alpha Kaden, as drop dead gorgeous as he is, is not who I had in mind. ‘Oh, please, who would you rather lose it to? Dex?’ she mocks. I chose not to say anything knowing she’d only tease me more. She has this fucked up delusion in her head that I have some feelings for him. Do I? I mentally shake my head. Gross. ‘Fine, and I’ll pretend I didn’t see who you were screwing in your sex dreams,’ She huffs before putting up her mental block. The block hinders my connection with her, making it near to impossible to communicate if she doesn’t bring come out of her damn cage. ‘Fine’ I spat back. Who needs a dramatic, exaggerating horn dog anyway? I think to myself, not that I actually meant it. To be honest, I don’t know what the hell is wrong with me. I am beside myself lately. I have been feeling either overwhelmed or irritated at every stupid thing. Everything just gets on my nerves. My phone rings, and I groan. I let it ring a few more times before I finally grab it off my side table, pressing it into my ear before I growl. “What do you want, Kaden?!” I snarled into the phone. The only other thing getting on my nerves and almost making me self-implode every damn time. “Woah, you need to chill, sis,” “Dex?” I cringed at his call for endearment towards me. He’s been calling me that since forever. Sitting up, I rub my eyes, and yawn. “What’s up?” I ask. “I heard about Kaden.” He says, his voice low. My eyes went wide in an instant. “What?” He isn’t supposed to know. No one should, not until my father decides to announce it to the entire pack. “Everybody knows. You’re now the big gossip in the entire city, labeled as the dark Alpha’s fiancé,” “His what?!” I fake gag at the label bestowed upon me. “So tell me,” I sigh, and proceed to tell him about the events prior to my dad’ meeting with the notorious, deadly Alpha when he cuts me off. “How about you come over and we’ll talk about it?” he offers, and I pause. My wolf partly pulled down her mental block before she scoffs. ‘Great. Just the comfort you need,’ She says, sarcasm dripping from her tone. Rolling my eyes, I shove her to the shadows of my mind when the sun doesn’t shine. ‘Go back to your cage,’ She huffs, returning to her make-shift container where I had been stuffing her for years. “It’s just I could feel you’re stressed.” Dex adds. Whether I admit it or not, I can’t deny that he’s right. I’ve been highly stressed lately because of the dark Alpha, as they call him. “Alright, be there in five,” I say and quickly hang up to head to the shower. I dressed casually as per usual whenever I crash in his apartment. The moment I step out of my room, I find my father standing outside. His hand is raised mid-air as if he was about to knock any moment before I opened the door. He looks me up and down. “Where are you going?” “I don’t need to tell you anything, Dad,” I huff, walk right past him without looking back. “Elle please,” I hear him say but I was already out the door. I haven’t spoken a word to him since he turned down my proposition to take over the pack now that I’m 18. He insisted I needed an Alpha, that I was not strong enough without one and that a pack will never run the same with a female leading the pack. What he said brought me to realize what he was thinking all along. Everything he taught me was simply for show. He didn’t really believe in me nor in my abilities to lead a pack, but looked down at me simply because I didn’t have a meat stick dangling between my legs. I refuse to speak to him ever since, locked myself up in my room for a week. Must be the reason why he suddenly showed up in my door.Dex’s apartment was modest, well-maintained, and ambient as I walked in. Not a thing was out of place, everything is spotless.
He lives in a huge condo in the city, and I often come down here for ***flix and chill while we fight over the characters and whether or not the ending was worth it. My eyes circle his apartment. I noticed a camera sitting on the table across his comfy sofa. Walking over, I was about to take it when a voice reached my ears. “Look who’s finally here,” I whip around before a smiling Dexter met my gaze. Finally, some peace and a friend to share it with, I thought.Danielle’s POV:Everything that happened afterwards slipped by in a haze. We were both drinking, and I don’t remember half of the Arcane movie he made me watch before I passed out. It was something about family members who’ve lost their way before they found each other again, and that’s when he lost me.Hmm. Strange, I remember talking to Dex about Alpha Kaden and my father’s plans on marrying me off to him for some alliance. When I came to, it was dark outside, and I was already in Dex’s car’s passenger seat. “Wakey wakey sissy,” I hear Dex whisper into my ear. The smell of his perfume brought me back to my senses.“Will you stop calling me that?” I snap at a surprised-looking Dexter leaning his arm on the wheel. He was in the same white fit shirt and shorts when I came to his apartment.“God, I’m sorry, what time is it?” I groan, touching my temple and rubbing small circles to soothe it. I close my eyes. I have this worst headache ever. My head is pounding and for some reason, my

My father freezes instantly, his one hand up in mid-air as he had been keeping me up to teach me all about the basics and whatnot on becoming his pack’s Alpha.“I beg your pardon?” He raises an eyebrow,“For the last time, Dad. Can’t I enjoy my youth far away from here before you hand me over the title?” I sigh, sitting down on his fancy leather couch. I folded my arms across my chest.“I want to travel, see the world, maybe even go to university. Dad, you know I always wanted to be a teacher.” I hear Dad sigh, heavy footsteps coming to me before the couch dips as he takes a seat beside me.“I know that. You told me a thousand times.” He chuckles. I pout.“But we’re talking about the pack.” He says.“Of course. More important than your own daughter.” I mumble.I know I was being a bitch. Danielle’s POV:I groan and will my body to move, only to find moving so much more difficult when you spent the last night heavily drunk. And with who I can’t even remember. Hell, I can’t even remember at all what had transpired last night and why am I in this room? Did I crawl my ass back to bed only this isn’t my bed. My bed is fuchsia in color and is covered with fur, yet why am I seeing cool gray and with a lot of red stains, I might add. Groaning, I force my body to sit up, rubbing my eyes.Hangover’s a bitch, that much I could say.“Good morning, mate.” I jump and yelp, the shock of a deep, gravelly voice sending me back and I fall flat on my ass to the bloody carpeted floor. What the—I quickly snatch the duvet up when my eyes drop on my naked breasts. Turns out they’re not the only ones naked because so is my cutely shaved vajayjay. Getting up, I wince, my mouth shaping into a small ‘o’, realizing what I had done. What he had done.“What are you doing here?!” I all but scream
Danielle’s POV:He growls menacingly, cutting me off. A smirk plays on my lips. So he is afraid of something. The feared, most despicable Alpha is afraid of rejection. I continue, “reject you, Alpha Kaden Kyson of the Blood Hounds Pack.” Leaving the hotel, I am carrying my heels with one hand and the other my purse and phone. Glancing around, I furrow my brows when I realize I am not in my father’s territory. I feel eyes glaring daggers at me from somewhere above, and I look up, only to make eye contact with the same asshole I rejected. His strange onyx eyes glinted mischievously as he stared down at me.“You will be back, mate.” I remember him say calmly and confidently after he’d pinned me on his bed, planting kisses everywhere on my skin before I shoved him off. The truth is, I was shocked with the way my body reacted to his touch. Inexplicable sparks danced across my skin, erupting from all the places he had touched. “Admit it. You cannot escape the bond,” he purred. I shake
Danielle’s POV I rejected him because he’s an asshole who stole my virginity and my innocence. So why the hell is he here? “Dad?” I scrunch my brows, watching Alpha Kaden walk in. His head nearly hitting the door with how tall he was. He towered over us, including my father. I whip to him. “What is this?” “This,” my Dad gestured both of us to sit. He continued, “Is a negotiation.” I shake my head in refusal. “Alpha Viktor,” Kaden spoke, yet I kept my eyes fixed on my father. “Thank you for the invitation.” “You know what this means,” My father says, repeating the same words Kaden said in the phone with him. My brows furrowed tighter. Clearly, I am the only one left out. “Can you please tell me what is happening?” I ask, frustrated that my Dad will leave me out such important information that would have to require him to invite his biggest rival, Alpha Kaden, into our home. My father gestures for us to sit. Kaden takes his, and I huff before walking over the couch and plop
Danielle’s POV:I jump, whipping around when the towel is snatched off my hand. “Kaden!” I growl at him, but he smirks at me, his eyes trailing slowly down my naked body still dripping wet. “Get out!” I snarl, my eyes darting to the other towels before he stepped into my line of vision. “Let me get one thing clear, mate,” he growled the last part as if to intimidate me, but I glared at him head-on. His brow raise. Leaning in, he breathes in my scent and growls. “You will respect the mate bond, it is sacred.” I scoff at his words. “Did my father sent you in here to change my mind? Well, bold move mister, but it is so not working,” I roll my eyes at him and shove him away, meaning to move towards my bathroom closet to get a damn towel because I’m bloody cold when he drags me right back in the same position. What the hell is his problem? “I am your mate,” he snarls. “So? I rejected you.” I say a-matter-of-factly, loving the way his lip twitched in his anger with my defiance
