His eyes widen, and I see panic flash in them. He drives to a lonely side of the road and packs the car before adjusting to stare at me. “I can’t. It’s the full moon and it won’t be safe.”

“I want to be there for you.”

His hand lift to caress my cheeks and my eyes flutter and my body squirms at his touch. “Jaclyn, I can’t, I’m sorry. I do not want you to see me like that. If you do, you might not want to be with me anymore.”

I wrap my hands tightly around his as if my life depends on him hearing me out. “I won’t do that because I love you.”

A look of surprise comes onto his face and his hand on my face grew softer. “You love me?”

What I’ve felt for him had to be love. Anyone with eyes could see, but so many don’t realise it when someone loves them.

Caroline and I make our way back from biotech class and we talk all the way through about the courses and lecturers while adjusting to the life of Uni. It's been almost a month since our resumption and so far adjustment to this life happened better than we expected and we both looked forward to meeting new people and making friends just as we hoped on keeping good grades. Caroline had faced the dilemma of choosing their mate over their career and hearing her side of the tale told me I wasn't the only one who faced such. She’s presently on the phone with Quinton, who complained about her choice of university. He had hoped she would also apply to Cambridge just like him so they could always be around each other, but she broke his heart when she told him her plans. He's still heartbroken about her choice. One reason the Go Project even exists is to give people like us equal opportunities in life, but somehow our mates have a hard time understan

  • Betrayed by the Alpha    68: Not mutual

“You will be safe here,” Dane tells me as he sets my bags down before the large wooden cottage in the woods. I had gathered the little things I had together last night and went to class this morning. After my last class ended, Dane picked me up, and we flew back to Beverly Hill to his private cottage in the woods, where he believed I’d be safer and away from the reach of the rebels in his pack. I did not want to leave the university. My future was at stake, but better my future than my life, and as much as I wanted to grumble, I did as I was told. There was a Kia motor waiting on our arrival at the airport and Dane gets in after the attendant loaded the car with my bags and for the next two hours we drive to our destination. The cottage, despite being in the woods, has a massive security system that cannot easily get bypassed. With a voice recognition lock and facial identification system. The house provided security and comfort

Three more minutes and it will be six p.m., making it three hours later than when Dane usually returned home since we’ve been at the cottage in the last few days. He had been on the search of the rebels in his pack. He told me we would be out before the end of the week this morning and that’s two days away. The full moon was tonight, and he needed to be with me, and nowhere else. He promised to come straight over when he was done with work and his search, but I haven’t seen him. I lower my phone from my ear after the twentieth ring and Dane doesn’t answer. What if something bad had happened to him? What if he never returns? To say I’m worried is an understatement. I’m someone who’d stop calling after the second ring, but with everything happening, I have no control. I’m being crushed with worries and my nerves are raging and my heart pounding in my chest so loud can be heard from a mile away. A forceful knock comes to

Dane told me he warded the house against any and everything supernatural and so unless I invite him, he can’t enter.” I assure Ken, who looked anything but convinced. Ace chuckles and to my surprise, he, step into the house without my invitation. “Well, as you can see, Dane lied!” Ken says, panic in his voice. He had every right to panic. If everything Dane had told me about Ace was true, then none of them stood a chance against him. “Hey, Ken, we finally meet.” Ken drags my hand to his back with his hand and he stands in front of me in defence with his left hand held out as if to cast a spell. Ace smirk, giving Ken a ridiculous look. “You can’t fight me. I’m three times stronger than you.” “But n

Flashback Eight months ago, a month after Jaclyn woke. “People say the moon goddess loves all his children equally. Well, they lied because the moon goddess loves the fire wolf more.” Ken read aloud as he came to take his seat on the couch next to Jaclyn, holding two small textbooks in his hands. “How do you mean?” she asked from beside him, her legs folded in a yoga style and her hands rubbing her knee. “Remember when I told you fire wolves can never be mated or marked, but they can choose their mate and mark them?” when she nodded he continued, “This book confirms it.” “That, never having a mate sounds like a bad thing instead of good,” she said with a displeased scowl. “It’s not. The purpose of a fire wolf is more than finding a mate. The goddess, knowing this, made them unmarkable at least to an extent.” he closed the book and opened the other one, having a brown hardcover back. He did a dramatic throat-clearing before read
